14.01.2022 26/1/18 Skate arena development update Sorry no news from Cr Matic as yet.

13.01.2022 The Substation Gallery and Studio (aka Hands on Art) on Enoggera Terrace was host to a recent community event in November 2013 with Red Hill Action Group holding its inaugural Art Auction. This was a great opportunity for local artists to exhibit their fine art and for local people to get together, appreciate and own these fabulous works. Local artists that contributed works were... 12.01.2022 Further information regarding the skate arena development. Below are details of issues and mitigation strategies that were discussed and forwarded to Cr Peter Matic in early December 2017. We are still waiting a response.... https://drive.google.com/open

11.01.2022 As you are probably aware, the court case that Reading Cinemas initiated with the Brisbane City Council and the developers of the Skate Rink has been settled. We are not privy to the specifics but essentially the development is going ahead. Carolyn has been in touch with the Brisbane City Council to find out whats now happening with the submission we put in last year. We are expecting to hear shortly (but dont hold your breath). When we do well be in touch. Attached is a copy of an article from last weeks Westside News.

11.01.2022 28/4/18 Skate Arena Redevelopment Next Saturdays meeting falls on a long weekend and many of you may be away. ( well planned Cr Matic!!!) If this is the case, can I just please ask that you rally as many neighbours, friends or even enemies, as you can, so there is a strong physical presence at the meeting.... I am happy to present any written concerns should anyone want to leave with me before the meeting- please RHAG to arrange. You can also formally write to Cr Matic with your concerns. It also appears that the letterbox drop area was very limited, another cunning

11.01.2022 16/1/18 - Skate arena development update Thanks to everyone who has contacted us regarding this development. We do want to clarify that the development has been approved, as described , that being with no provision for staff or patron parking. ... We cannot change this, or petition council to change this approval. What we can do is raise concerns with council regarding the impact this will have on local resident and businesses, and request effective management of traffic and parking to mitigate the impact. Cr Matic was contacted yesterday with a request for a public meeting to allow locals to voice their concerns and plan a way forward. We hope to hear back from Cr Matic today.

09.01.2022 Looking for a great way to support a local business, who supports the rescue and rehoming of cats, kitties and the occasional ex-race horse, and also lets you show off your creative flair and card making skills, then come along to an event this Thursday night 23rd at 6.30pm.

09.01.2022 5/2/2018 - Skate Arena Redevelopment Update We heard from Cr Matics office today and were advised that he has met the Councils Traffic and Transport department on site. The Traffic and Transport department are putting together a plan/ suggested approach to managing the traffic/ car parking issues. ... It will take several weeks for this to be forwarded to Cr Matic. Previously Cr Matic advised that he was going to meet with locals, so our expectation is that this will happen once he has the Traffic and Transport departments plan/ suggested approach. Stay tuned!!

08.01.2022 Dont forget the community meeting tomorrow 3.30-5.00pm to discuss the redevelopment of the skate arena. This maybe you only opportunity to voice your concerns.

08.01.2022 9/2/17-Skate Arena Development update Cr Matic called today to provide a detailed update. He confirmed that he had met with the Transport and Traffic department on site recently. They have looked at the current parking situation and are putting together a suggested plan for a community meeting. The plan only covers Enoggera Tce from Musgrave Rd to Arthur Tce. It does not cover the residential side streets like Mannion, Jay, Surrey, Arthur, Nott etc. The residents on these str...eets need to make a formal submission to the Council. The submission would include explanation of the issues and suggested ways to address the situation. The submission will be assessed and all residents of the street will then take part in a consultation process. Cr Matic is planning on having the community meeting on a Saturday a week or 2 before Easter. The Paddington Ward office will advise through a letterbox drop. All feedback provided at the meeting will then be considered the Transport and Traffic people in finalising the plan for Enoggera Tce, between Musgrave Rd and Arthur Tce. We recommend that we ask at the community meeting for close residential streets to be considered as part of this plan. It seems short-sighted to just be addressing car parking/ traffic issues for such a short section of Enoggera Tce and not consider all the close by residential streets. Cr Matic estimated that the whole process should be able to be completed by the end of the financial year. He advised that it is early days with the redevelopment of the skate rink site so there is time to work through the perceived parking and traffic issues before the new business opens its doors to customers. We encourage you all to attend the community meeting and have your say. Keep a look out for notification either through a letter in your mailbox or an update from us.

07.01.2022 Break-in Jay St Red Hill- Update from Jay Street resident Just wanted to make you aware - last night we had someone go through our cars and garage area and potentially try to access the back of our house. We think this happened around 4 am. Nothing of major value was taken but we are still doing a stock take. ... Timely reminder to keep things locked and keep a eye out on the street

07.01.2022 30 May Skate Arena Redevelopment Update As outlined in the post of 16 May, if residents wanted a review of parking/traffic in their street, they would need to approach the BCC. Despite prior advice from the BCC, they now state that there is no formal process to instigate this process.... This process is currently underway for Jay St, Mannion St, Cochrane St (between Jay/Broadway and Musgrave Rd) To help you with this, should you want to approach council, below is a suggested process. Prepare a letter box drop for residents, outlining the development, the potential issues for your street, potential mitigation strategies (every street will have their own particular issues, therefore mitigation strategies need to be aligned to those particular issues*) and a date for a street meeting. Talk to all residents in the street; explain the process to instigate any change (BCC will not initiate any action and will only act on residents input) giving them a copy of the flyer, encouraging them to attend the meeting. Hold the street meeting; reiterate the issues and the potential solutions. Perhaps have a pre-prepared submission to council that can be updated at the time of the meeting with the (hopefully) agreed mitigation strategy. Print and have all residents sign it. Advise residents that BCC will still contact all residents seeking their input into any changes even though they have collectively signed the submission. BCC will also require the majority of the residents to be in agreement with the proposed changes before they will consider implementing the said changes. It also needs to be made clear that any requested changes will still need to be considered by council, and any changes agreed to by BCC may not necessarily be aligned to the residents needs. The process, from requesting changes, to having any such changes made, may take many months. * There is no parking for staff or patrons what does that mean for you and your street? Patron capacity is 350 for cinemas, plus bowling alley, plus there is mention of a bar. Opening hours are 10.00 to midnight 7 days a week. Patrons/staff may be returning to their vehicles as late as 12.30am. What noise will they create, especially is there is a bar on site? Where will you and your visitor park if patrons/staff are parking in your street? What will be the increase of traffic in your street? What safety issues are created or exacerbated?

07.01.2022 27/4/18 - Skate Arena Redevelopment Many of you may have received a letterbox drop today from Cr Matic, advising that a community consultation has now been arranged. It will be held on Saturday 5 May, 3.30-5.00pm at Ithaca Hall, near the corner of Kennedy Terrace and Arthur Terrace. ... We encourage as many residents to come along to and voice your concerns over the traffic and parking concerns. You will note on the attached picture of the notice that Cr Matic is defining this discussion to only be about parking allocations along Enoggera Terrace. This limitation in no way addresses the wider concerns from residents outside of this area, and this needs to be voiced. Thanks Kim Secretary RHAG

06.01.2022 Hi You may be interested in the charge.org petition that had been started complaining against the legal action that Reading cinemas have commenced against the skate arena redevelopment. These petitions are toothless tigers, but I added my comments ( as Im not signing this) to point out how uninformed some people are. ... 05.01.2022 17/1/18 Skate arena development update We have managed to catch up with Cr Matic and can advise: * Cr Matic talked to the BCC Traffic and Transport branch yesterday. They have our material ( as previously posted on fb) and will be doing an audit of the street parking signage as an initial step. They will be looking at the parking/ traffic issues, opportunities/mitigation strategies and how these sit with allowable traffic rules. ... * Cr Matic will keep in contact with the Traffic and Transport branch and expects the be able to provide us with a further update next week. * This update will also include details about organising, and timeframes for consultation/ public forum for interested residents and businesses. Please feel free to share this information, our email address and Facebook contacts with others. Thanks

03.01.2022 Some of the work up for grabs at the auction

03.01.2022 The Brisbane City Council has recently approved a development application (DA A004791465), to convert the burnt out skate rink on Enoggera Terrace into a 5 cinema complex (355 seats), with 2 indoor bowling lanes. The new business will operate from 10am to midnight, 7 days a week. The development is good news; especially as the cinema complex will be contained within the existing building envelope (no change to the building footprint and roof, and the heritage façade will be r...estored). The development does not include any provision for parking for either staff or patrons as the developer has advised that the cinema complex is expected to be patronised by the local community who will either choose to walk, cycle, catch a taxi or ride share. However, not everyone will walk, cycle or pay to be driven to and from the site. For example, on hot and humid days, when parents take their children and their friends to the bowling alley (particularly during school holidays) or when people are running late for the movie start time, patrons will drive and hope to park. It might just be that walking any distance is too far for some so they will drive and hope to park nearby. People with special needs also need to be considered. Local residents already experience issues with trying to park near their homes. Many houses do not have off-street parking and therefore residents must use street parking. Local businesses also experience the same issue, with customers and providers not able to easily access their premises. Many local streets are also used for rat running and this also impacts on residents and businesses. The Red Hill Action Group has spoken with Cr Peter Matic from the Brisbane City Council and has processed some mitigation strategies to these parking and traffic issues. Cr Matic has referred this information to the relevant area within council for consideration. This is not to say that all or any of these strategies will be implemented. If you are interested in more details, have suggestions or ideas, or would like to be involved in discussions with the Council, please contact the Red Hill Action Group via email [email protected]. Please also feel free to contact Cr Peter Matic independently (3403 2520) or the BCC ( 3403 8888). We will provide periodic updates via this page.

02.01.2022 A snippet that may be of interest! Inner-city Brisbane streets could become increasingly parked out under Brisbane City Councils plan to introduce several new parking permits for residents. The council has proposed changing the 22-year-old Regulated Parking Permit Local Law, following the Brisbane Parking Taskforce report tabled in council in December 2014.... Several new parking permits for Brisbane residents have been proposed under a parking permit amendment. Several new parking permits for Brisbane residents have been proposed under a parking permit amendment. The permit system was introduced in Brisbane shortly after the introduction of the central traffic area in 1961, according to the report. Within the residential parking section of the report there were nine recommendations to change the local law, of which five were drawn on as part of council's proposed amendments. It is understood there was discussion during an internal council briefing about the permits applying to an entire suburb rather than just specific streets, as it is under the current system. https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au//20141201-brisbane_parking
