16.01.2022 Branding the ewes with their tag numbers makes pedigrees at lambing a cinch! The vast majority of our ewes are quiet enough to read the numbers off their tags, but there is a small percentage that are just too skittish. This makes life easy

14.01.2022 Poddy Lambs is something I don’t do. I mostly just don’t have time, but I also know full well how much of a nuisance they can become. I am willing however to spend many days fostering lambs on to ewes who have lost lambs. This Charollais ewe unfortunately lost triplets. However here she is after 4 days, successfully raising two unrelated lambs off two other sets of triplets.

13.01.2022 Had to call in the Big Guns this weekend! Got a mob of ewes lambing at the moment (120 in the mob) 63 of them have lambed in 7 days we have tagged 112 lambs so far. And only 3 sets of triplets.

08.01.2022 Bucket Mouse Trap. So many stories and videos getting about of the mouse plague. If you think you even have one mouse in your garage/garden shed/wherever, GET ...ONTO THEM. Winter is coming. Seriously. And those furry critters are going to be looking for somewhere warm & dry...aka your linen cupboard. This is a very simple trap that literally takes minutes to make. Catches multiple mice in a sitting and hardly needs rebaiting. Public post. Feel free to share. See more

07.01.2022 So we had to bag up the Mettwurst, soppressata, and Charcoal Tank Calabrese. Sad not to be checking it twice a day.

07.01.2022 In several years we’ll splash out and buy a big flash sheep handler. In the short term we improvise and get through it all eventually. With seven different operations to do to each sheep (drench, multiple vaccinations, brands etc) there is no possible way we could have done this up the race!
