This are the must common categories and ways to get out of them or get the spot less notorious (some stains may not be able to be totally removed): Water-Based Stains non-oil-based food and beverages, blood, vomit, ink, latex paint, and cologne.... What to do? 1. Remove the spill as much as possible without pushing it into the carpet, physically removing solids with your hands and blotting liquids with a white cloth. 2. Prepare a solution of 1 cup of warm water and teaspoon clear hand washing soap. 3. Using another dry clean cloth, blot the stain using the solution, then absorb the liquid with an additional dry clean cloth. Repeat this process until stain is removed, then blot with water and allow to air dry. Oily Stains Oil based foods, varnish, cosmetics, and oil-based paint fall into this category. What to do? 1. Treat these carpet stains with a citrus solvent, without saturating the carpet. 2. Create the cleaning solution mentioned above and perform the aforementioned blotting and absorbing process. Coffee, Tea & Urine What to do? 1. Begin treating the stain as you would for water-based stains. 2. Create a solution of 1 cup of vinegar with 2 cups of warm water, then treat the area again with the blotting and absorbing cycle until the stain is removed. Pet Urine This is one of the hardest stains you will ever remove from your carpet. What to do? 1. Remove as much of the urine you can as soon as you discover it by absorbing it with a towel. 2. Treat the area with a carpet cleaning solution, especially one for pets that uses enzyme action as its primary active ingredient. Thoroughly treat the area with the enzyme solution and let air dry. The odor should go away as the cleaning solution dries.
