23.01.2022 What to look for !!!! The appearance of gold bearing quartz veins can vary enormously, HOWEVER there ARE some really good indicators that may be visible to keep a ln eye open for,.... MANGANESE-OXIDE minerals. ... These BLACK, Metallic looking areas of these quartz Veining is produced by the oxidation of minerals that are often exclusively associated with gold bearing quartz veins and IF PRESENT, are often a fantastic sign that gold can be present and DEFINITELY worthy of crushing and panning some to look for some shinny yellow !!! :-). 23.01.2022 CRACKING THE PROSPECTING CODE: All the 'Different Rocks' of 'Different Ages' occur TOGETHER and have been given local 'names' for the respective areas, like the goldfields in Western Australia is geologically known as the 'Yilgarn Craton'. This is done to simplify the way to reference different geological areas quickly. Below is Geology regions summary map of W.A. to help with knowing some of these names that are referring to different areas in which the rocks are all similar (and usually very different to the surrounding areas).

16.01.2022 CRACKING THE PROSPECTING CODE: GREAT course tonight everyone !!!! ...and remember, "Gold rides into Town on an Iron Horse " !!!!!! :-)... Here's another good example of a IRON-OXIDE rich vein that was loaded with nuggets. The iron-oxide portions of the vein that is on the surface may rust away (weathering) much faster than the quartz portions,.... hence 'Salt and Pepper' .... leaving almost only quartz,... but don't be afraid to spend some time CRACKING some quartz rocks on the surface to see what it looks like inside.

14.01.2022 SPOTTING GOLD AREAS IN 'OLD' CREEKS !!! CRACKING THE PROSPECTING CODE: Gold wants to 'settle-out' from a flowing creek the 1st chance it gets,.... remember, the Specific Gravity of gold is a whooping 19.32 !!!! and it doesn't like to travel if it doesn't have to !! :-)... Areas with nice sandy banks / bars are usually the LAST spot gold would be found, whereas the areas of more IRREGULAR rock / pebble sizes indicates a 'drop in the energy' of the water flowing down a creek, which in turn allows the gold to settle-down and accumulate. Traditional / 'text-book examples' are often very hard to find in the 'real world', so what do you look for to have a much greater chance of finding gold,... look into the sides of the creek banks. Areas that show layers of the 'mixed' rocks are quite often the historical locations of the low energy spots where the creek previously flowed. I found this great example in one of the prospecting Facebook pages (sorry, can't remember which one now, but have a look through some of these pages as there's some really good ones out there!!!). I always run my detector over these spots in the creek banks, as these can not just have some old hidden nuggets, but these areas will always pre-date industrial times, so no trash :-). PRESS "LIKE' if this information is helpful or comment on any other topics you'd like discussion.
