25.01.2022 A beautiful winters evening at Cottesloe, Northerly wind ,head high swell and a few guys out having a ball. It was pretty bleak just before this photo was taken, then the sun popped out for a few minutes and created a bit of magic.

23.01.2022 Well this is exciting- as a small fast turn around shooter/ editor i have a bunch of case studies i would love to share with you. I shared one here on the world record skinny dip attempt event from 4 years ago-I am doing lots of variety from anamorphic corporate shooting to 3d motion tracking workflows. And even chasing action with gimbals and drones- and how best to pre design shoots for optimum shot ratios and coverage. And then bring that in to a complete production. everything is typically backboned by interview audio. 21.01.2022 I have been working on a fascinating renovation documentary. Its a massive skybox going up on Stirling Highway in Claremont. Mounted on a heritage-listed building. It is going to be a fascinating blend of old and new with some spectacular screens integrated into the design One aspect I am focused on is moving away from music montage style videos and integrating layers of story into audiovisual communication. 20.01.2022 How to EASILY Make Video production work for your business. Matt Holder here. I have been running Reflex FIlms - A Video production business based right here in Perth - for the last 15 years. 13.01.2022 A lightwind wave sailing session on Perths Northern Reefs in Jan 2019. Thank you Thomas Hoffman for the aerial shots. The motivation for this edit was to try and share the feeling of how amazingly the rails and rockerline on Windtechs Superb Magic Bullet Wave boards are working. To put this in perspective you have a 90 kg guy on a light wind day here having a pretty good time an average waves with little power. Thomas aerial angles let you see how efficient and loose the board is.

11.01.2022 Behind the scenes yesterday on another Cooking with Tenina shoot. (number 2 for 2019) Today I was running 2 cameras, 2 sets of mics and all lighting (hence the basic but effective 2 light set up) We were enlightened with the knowledge from French now local Patisserie chef louis Boeglin. Louis has worked in Michelin starred restaurants and is the precision master (as you have to be as a patisserie chef). Tenina was on fire and delightful as always hosting, presenting and ...imparting her wealth of cooking knowledge. Its such a pleasure to work with great talent. She is the "Queen of Thermomix" - but is much bigger than thermal blenders. Having published multiple books and running a thriving subscription business (The insiders club). And her food tours are a blast. #bali #singapore #asia We have a fantastic working relationship. Tenina has trust in myself as the shooter and editor. While she consistently delivers entertaining and genuine presentation to camera. 11.01.2022 In video production a powerful way to engage your audience is with a spokesperson. As humans we are designed by evolution to respond to other people talking. (after thousands of years of sitting around campfires). But if its badly shot, lit and (SUPER IMPORTANT) has bad audio (the MOST common way to push your audience away) then you are going to negatively impact your percieved brand value. ... At the same time you need to balance this with cutaways to add layers of communication and interest. These need to be shot with skill, art and love. I was on a a shoot this morning at Kings Park and the light was gorgeous. This was shot in Cinemascope / anamorphic and I have to say I am loving this look. Kings Park is a redonkulously excellent location to shoot as it offers a crazy variety of angles and perspectives. (Also i didnt know there was a Seaplane landing and taking off on the Swan river)
08.01.2022 Cinemascope/ Anamorphic shot reel- this look is addictive as it creates a subtle otherworldly feel. What Anamorphic adaptors do is give you the depth of field fall off of a tele lens but with the field of view of a wide angle. Coupled with a some camera movement on a slider or Gimbal these can look like SUPERCINEMA. And the flares are out of this world. ... Voigtlander 25 f.095 and Slr magic compact 40 in action here. Dedicated anamorphic lensesare VERY expensive- but with some work arounds adaptors can do a great job. I am planning on shooting a lot more anamorphic in future. 04.01.2022 Double Rainbow over Scarborough - 27 May 2020. This was only around for around 30 seconds - And some of the most punchy saturation and contrast I have ever seen in a rainbow. The perfect combo of light, rain, and a dark sky in the background to make those colours pop. ... I was driving home from school pick up but this one could not be ignored. So I pulled over, whipped out the iPhone, and grabbed a bunch of different frames. And then it was gone ...

03.01.2022 I just finished a video showcase project for a new house build in Mosman park. I wanted to make this to look different and as cinematic as possible. And certainly we didnt want the square video look - which constrains real estate wide angles so badly-so we went for "Cinemascope" Using todays technology we were able to use adapted anamorphic lenses, drones, gimbals and sliders while keeping the budget at a win win value point for all creators.... By using the technology available to us today, having a designed and disciplined approach and leaning on 15 years of video production set craft we were able to create some nice production value. having a client that was open to backing themselves in for presentation to camera was great too. This should be a solid long term brand building vehicle. 02.01.2022 I had a work trip to Northam to see a client last week. As well as shooting commercially I also love to shoot for fun. And Northam was too interesting not to get the cameras out (The Phantom 4 pro and ground-based Cinematography). It is always great to be able to help regional centers showcase what they have to offer. If you are after an interesting day trip (or overnighter) this is a fantastic option with lots to see and do.
