25.01.2022 We are facing our biggest test to date - but we can and must rise to this challenge. From midnight tonight, we are asking that for the next six days people st...ay home and only leave for essential items like groceries and medical supplies. By going hard and going early, we are giving ourselves the greatest chance at protecting our community. Please continue to share our updates with your family and friends. By working together we WILL get through this.

25.01.2022 Last week, Novita kid Reece and his physiotherapist Lindsey Boucaut made an appearance on Channel 7's national breakfast program, Sunrise. Reece was diagnosed w...ith cerebral palsy at three weeks of age, but later doctors discovered that he had his own unique syndrome, consisting of among other things, hypotonia (low muscle tone), which impact his mobility and muscle strength. The prognosis from doctors was that Reece would never walk. With thanks to early intervention therapy from the NDIS and Novita, Reece has overcome all the odds and is now singing, dancing and jumping his way through his childhood. Have a look at Reece's story that featured on Sunrise below, or find out more at the blog here: https://bit.ly/33I42Wg See more

22.01.2022 SA Health are sending text alert messages to people who have entered South Australia from Victoria since the border restrictions changed on 9 July. These mess...ages advise people to get tested in the first 24 hours and on day 12 of their 14 day self-quarantine period. These messages will be sent daily to SA residents who have returned from Victoria and are self-quarantining. Some essential travellers crossing the border will have received the text alert, however, essential travellers only need to be tested if symptoms develop (even if symptoms are very mild). There is a higher risk of COVID-19 in South Australia because of the current outbreak in Victoria, so its important that anyone who develops symptoms of COVID-19 seeks testing immediately: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidtesting

But under our plan, we are reactivating it into a thriving health precinct that is also playing a central role in our fight against COVID-19. In a few hours we'll be revealing the latest facilities that have been completed. Stay tuned!

18.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID-19 TESTING INFORMATION Please only attend a COVID-19 testing site if you have COVID-19 symptoms OR have been instructed to get tested by SA Heal...th. Visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidcontacttracing to find out if you are impacted by the Parafield Cluster AND are required to get tested. We are working hard to extend operating hours of clinics and put on more staff. If you need to get tested: Please be patient with staff who are working hard to organise logistics and collect samples. Be prepared for delays by bringing water and snacks. If you are attending a walk-in site, bring sun protection (sunscreen, hat, umbrella) and a chair. Keep 1.5 metres between yourself and others in line and wear a mask if possible. Do not take other people with you to get tested, other than those you need to care for. Motorists are reminded to not queue across intersections, ensure that you leave enough distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you, drive slowly through the testing sites and ensure you have enough fuel if waiting in line at a drive-through clinic. After your test: Go straight home. Avoid contact with other people. Stay in self-isolation until you receive a negative test result (in certain cases you may be required to remain in self-isolation or self-quarantine if directed to do so by SA Health or SA Police, even if you receive a negative test result). Information on how to self-isolate/self-quarantine: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidisoadvice If you are well but worried, contact the SA COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line on 1800 632 753

16.01.2022 Ready to get back to the gym post-iso? Be sure to follow these tips from physios around Australia to make your return without injury as smooth as possible. Wa...rm-up and cool-down properly using stretching, foam-rolling and icing techniques to aid in your recovery. Drop your pre-iso weight by 20-30% and gradually increase the weight over four-eight weeks depending on your age and fitness level. Get your form checked by a professional and ensure you are controlled and slow in your repetitions. Don't go too hard, too early! Build up to your pre-iso levels as your muscles and tendons will have likely shrunk, making you more susceptible to injury. Check in with your local physio to avoid injury and manage your return to full capacity. For more recommendations from APA Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist Julie Campbell, MACP, and Brooke Patterson, APAM, on returning to the gym, head to https://ab.co/2XPA3Z6 #StayFitSaturday #gym #choosephysio #weekendworkout

16.01.2022 From Friday 19 June, restrictions are easing for indoor group fitness classes. Classes will be able to increase numbers if they are held in rooms that allow for... the increase: If space only allows for 1 person 4 square metres, indoor group fitness classes remain limited to 10 people. If space only allows for 1 person per 7 square metres, indoor group fitness classes can have up to 20 people. This does not include the people employed or engaged to work to run the activity. All participants are required to provide their name and phone number or email address. The person conducting the activity retains a record of those contact details and produces them at the request of an authorised officer. To work out the capacity of a space at 1 per 7 square metres: Multiply the length by the width (in metres). This gives the total area in square metres. Divide this number by 7 to know how many you can fit in at 1 per 7 square metres. If the number is over 20, the limit of 20 still applies. Businesses and organisations involved in a defined public activity must complete a COVID-Safe Plan.
