21.01.2022 Well, a whole heap of hours later. Timmy's Trumpet has left the building. Sourced the missing parts, got it all back together and working. Finished it off with hours of detailing, like the tank badges, engine badge, period cabling and switching, reflectors, decals, etc. Tim opted for the classic look with round mirrors and pea shooter exhausts. The seat will be going back to the upholsterers to sort those bumps out. Not good enough. Black ignition leads with NGK period caps to follow and the right silencer has to go to the chromers at some point after Timmy modified it to accommodate the kickstarter stroke. Nice fabrication work indeed. A beautiful restoration brought back to life and ready for riding. Enjoy it

16.01.2022 Just finished The Buderim Barbers spin sign. Forgot to take a before pic but there is a shot of the old base and topper so you'll agree it was time for a serious make over. We kept the old hand painted spinner blade, re-made the frame with a beautiful old ornate cast iron base and finished it off with a coat of black and new toppers and decals to finish. Fitted a brass drop locking pin on a chain so it can free spin or be locked off, subtly hidden between the toppers. Came up great and Rachael was stoked.
16.01.2022 The '32 Indian Chief rolls out the door. This gem had a slide on the left damaging the front guard, the tank and tearing the rear guard. The footboard, stand, levers, seat, bars, etc all needed repairing. Special thanks to Peter from Kustom Paint for the excellent colour matching service. The paint repairs came out great. 15.01.2022 This fork leg has just come out of a bike that the local Suzuki main dealer done an accident repair on over 10 years ago. Shame on you. If you want your bike repairing properly use the smaller guys. These people, myself included, give a shit and do the job right. One side of the triple clamps was left undone, probably where the fork was bent and they couldn't get it back together properly and had slid through and was sitting against the underside of the handlebars. Lucky he kept it upright for this long

13.01.2022 This rare gaming wheel has been stripped and professionally restored to a high level. 12.01.2022 Terry's Cagiva Elefant came in for a heap of work and a mini make over. Came out great and heaps of years still left in the ole girl.
12.01.2022 Firstly lets discuss the benefits of having a piece like this restored. Very very important. By doing this Nicky @ Bent Plastics Maroochydore has, Supported 2 small local businesses Stopped more waste going to landfill and saved more new timber from being used Saved a family memory, to be passed on Educated her children that this throw away society is wrong and there are still trades persons out there to do this work... Essentially ended up with a far superior timber piece at a cheaper price than replacing with some mass produced Chinese shit. It's a no brainer. Get stuff restored Came out great. This family piece from the 60's was believed to be pine at first, but after stripping and sanding was fortunately found to be a pale hardwood, possibly beech or Victorian ash. Nicky wanted the piece to be darker and had already sourced her own fabric. We tinted the timber with walnut and finished with 2 coats of quality wax and a buff. Beautiful upholstery courtesy of Mick @ Rosemount Upholstery.

10.01.2022 After the success of the last Industrial Draughtsman Stools I advertised, I decided to make some more and here they are. The people that bought the last ones said that after going and seeing what was on offer in the shops for the same price it was a no brainer. These have lasted 60/70 years and will do the same again. 08.01.2022 Been a week on the spanners. Aprilia Tuono 1100 RR for full valve clearance service. This bike has a full main dealer service history and should have had this procedure done twice already. 06.01.2022 Some people often ask and question why their paintwork is the priciest part of their restoration project. Here is an explanation why with some pics, so it makes more sense. Thanks to Keith for this job - enjoy And to the doubters. Try doing it yourself, that is once you have gone out and purchased all of the equipment. Very labour intensive and most of the time goes into the prep. It's not like you have turned up with a nice new tank for me to paint
05.01.2022 What's been going on at Relics. Flat chat at the moment with numerous qoutes, etc, where peoples have been stuck inside and clearing out the shed. A good few jobs out of it all. 50's fridge for a complete make over. 60's gramophone to get going. Some fabrication work. Lots of motorbike work as always. Fired up the '73 RD350 which I've been picking away at. Powder coated some more bits. Rebuilt the carbs. More parts ordered for that. My ZXR 750 paintwork which I've been tripping over for the last 4 years is finally all repaired and in primer. Still to be hand rubbed before paint and decals. 40 hours in that all ready. Lots of plastic welding on damaged fairing panels which has to be done both sides to work properly. Very time consuming but will be worth the effort for the end result.
05.01.2022 Ian from Brisbane had me fix and restore a wonderful mid century Parker expander table and chairs. Two of the chairs had been glued before but had failed, so strip them back and start again. The lacquer on this family piece had worn through on the table centre leaf, and had picked up some water stains so we decided to tone everything with Brown Japan and 7 coats of clear sanded between every second coat and a polish to finish. The display cabinet also had some nasty water stains in the timber which we disguised before clear coating. The front door had to have the lead glass un-soldered to replace a broken pane of glass. Mirror was a nice easy clean and tint.
05.01.2022 The ole Kriesler Multi-Sonic plays again. Thanks to Toby Croce for the electronic repairs and parts needed. 2 blown transformers and a heap of capacitors out of tolerence. I cleaned up the cabinet, stripped and polished the turntable which was gummed up and playing slow, cleaned all the trim and original mesh and repainted the knobs. Decals and missing parts to finish. Can't believe how the top lids came up after a cut and polish. Here it play on the other post. Picture of parts changed to get her running
04.01.2022 Nic also had this display cabinet brought back to life. As the glass had been pushed in and the cabinet had to be paint stripped it was easier to remove everything before starting. Paint stripped and sanded, gaps filled, conditioned and tinted, 3 coats of wax, hardware polished and lacquered, glass refurbed and fitted. Good to go
03.01.2022 The owner of this 1982 Suzuki 1100 Katana has been riding this up until a couple of years ago when it got stood down and pushed aside with a few running and riding issues. The corrosion had got into lots of things so we decided to pull her right down, get some chroming done, replace all the nuts and bolts with stainless steel and work through everything from one end to another. This included re-finishing the swingarm which had picked up some dings and battery acid stains, str...ipping and rebuilding all the brake components. Re-blacking the engine casings, all switch gears and clocks rebuilt, re-blacking wheels, polishing all alloy parts, carby kits, and on and on and on. Looks pretty smick now and ready for its new home in his living room. Enjoy So interested peoples might want to know how much chroming costs are now. This small batch (see pic) was $690 and 4 MONTHS. 03.01.2022 Tahu brought his pride and joy in for some tyres and a full service. While it was here we repainted the belly pan in satin black and fitted new decals.
