12.05.2022 If you're sitting in front of your computer all day working, you probably experience back pain ofter. I recommend doing the "Standing Cat-Camel" as a work-related backstretch. I'll tell you how so read on: Step 1: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and knees bent slightly.... Step 2: Lean forward, placing your hands just above your knees. Step 3: Round your back so that your chest is closed and your shoulders are curved forward. Step 4: Then, arch your back so that your chest opens and your shoulders rollback. Step 5: Repeat several times. TIP If your job keeps you in the same position all day, Remedia Therapy suggests doing 2-minute stretch breaks to reverse that posture at least every hour. #RemediaTherapy #SportsMassage #Whitfords

28.04.2022 You might be hearing or using this term every time, but really, what is it? Let's talk about KNOTS. A knot is a muscle fiber or fibers thinned out or stretched out and twisted to form a knot. It is our body's defense mechanism to protect muscles from obtaining injuries. However, it can also cause injury if not treated! The muscle can be snapped like a rubber band if stretched too far.... Knots also prevent proper circulation and nutrition to muscles, which can cause ATROPHY. A knotted muscle have a hard time draining toxins and bacteria, which can lead to different problems. Massage helps and maintains proper muscles functioning, so don’t delay take charge of your body! #RemediaTherapy #SportsMassage #Whitfords

13.04.2022 Do any of these lines sound familiar? You have to hold a stretch to get the benefit. Don't bounce in the stretch; you'll tear your muscle. If you don't stretch before a workout, you'll hurt yourself.... I often see athletes and exercise enthusiasts stretching incorrectly, despite their good intentions. That can be risky, and no one wants to get injured. If your posture or activities are a problem, make it a habit to stretch those muscles regularly. If you have back pain from sitting at a desk all day, stretches that reverse that posture could help. - Ivan #RemediaTherapy #SportsMassage #Whitfords

24.03.2022 A feeling of tightness across the hips comes from tension around the hip flexors. The hip flexors attach the femur to the pelvis and spine. These muscles allow you to bend at the waist and raise your leg. Your Hip Flexors are one of those muscle groups that we don’t often notice tightening up. Yet they can have a significant impact on the rest of your body. When tight, they can contribute to knee pain, lower back pain, sore hips and even pull you out of posture. Some of the... main hip flexors are the: Iliopsoas (Iliacus & Psoas) Rectus femoris Tensor fasciae latae (TFL) Sartorius Here's a simple stretch showing you a great way to open up the front of your hip and loosen off those hip flexors. Make sure you squeeze the glutes and abs to get your bum to tuck in! This is more important than having your leg way behind your body. Engage the muscles first, then see how far you can stretch! Hold for 30sec x 3 on each leg as a starting point. You can progress up to 1 min and 1:30 as you become flexible :) Enjoy! #RemediaTherapy #SportsMassage #Whitfords

20.03.2022 WFH Tips While Self-Isolating During the COVID-19 Outbreak How's everyone getting on at this stressful time? For those that are working at home and doing office work, it can be tricky to get the right posture and position especially if you are used to having the specially designed office chair and specific desk height. Doing the same at home is so important, use pillows and cushions to support your lumbar spine, or to sit on and make you higher next to the desk. Also, use... books if you are happy with the chair but what you laptop higher in front of you so that you don’t start hunching over. Most importantly, remember to take regulars breaks and keep moving! If creating a mobile workspace helps you concentrate, set up a few spaces in your house where you can work. This may help your posture since you’ll change up your seated position. Giving yourself a set amount of time in each location may help you manage your time as sitting for long periods of time in a compromising position can do lasting damage. Keep as positive and productive during this time and always pop me a message if you have any questions! #RemediaTherapy #SportsMassage #Whitfords
