For some, today is about mourning of the lost time, life and quite possibly a part of the self. What is important is leaving a space for people seeking asylum and people from refugee backgrounds to decide what today is about. ... The theme for this year is #WithRefugees. For us, who were forcibly displaced, it means to unite in solidarity. For people, who supports us it should invite them to reflect on the ethics and approaches to advocacy. Celebrating the World Refugee Day #WithRefugees means knowing how to be an ally, foregrounding the lived experiences and treating people with dignity and respect.
