24.01.2022 It’s a total joy to announce that James Perrin and The Overview Effect podcast program is joining us on The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow as a program partner. James will be our Fireside Conversationalist with our guest speakers at each event, and will be recording these discussions for The Overview Effect which will be released online in the coming weeks.. The Overview Effect is the name for the cognitive shift that astronauts experience when viewing Ear...th from space the way they see the world changes and they come back to Earth profoundly connected to nature and community. What would our world look like if we lived from the perspective of this ‘Overview Effect’? James begins each podcast with this question, which he poses to influential thinkers, environmentalists, humanitarians, and business people who are working on the big problems of our times. Check out: https://www.climactic.com.au//overview-effect-with-james-/ James is a chemical and environmental engineer, and an advocate for environmentalism and ethical business, with experience in sustainability, innovation, and food manufacturing across Australia and New Zealand. He daylights as the Sustainability Manager for Stone & Wood Brewing Co, and is also a doting father, occasional long-distance runner, obsessive gardener, and self-confessed nature lover. + + + + + + + + The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow A series of free events hosted by Renew Fest and Resilient Byron. 23.01.2022 Joyality and young people are coming to Renew Fest 2021, Mullumbimby!!

21.01.2022 You don’t have to be best friends, but are you good neighbours? What does being a good neighbour mean when it comes to a crisis? How do you find this out before disaster strikes?... What potentials for thriving exist if we are good neighbours? How can we re-imagine the village in suburbia and in our townships in ways that put ‘people care’ and ‘earth care’ at the centre? What makes communities hum in rural and semi-rural areas? The quest to answer questions like these is at the heart of Resilient Byron’s mission, and is at the heart of conversation we will host with them throughout The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow. See you there! + + + + + + + + The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow A series of free events hosted by Renew Fest and Resilient Byron. Join the growing conversation. Get inspired. 13.01.2022 We are so excited to launch the Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow - in collaboration with Resilient Byron. . If 2020 taught us anything, it was that we have big problems that need fixing. . We think 2021 offers a fresh start, so to get us inspired we're gathering community groups and local changemakers for an afternoon of big ideas about how we can transform our neighbourhoods and local community. Will you join us?... . We’ve asked five local big thinkers to each share one concrete idea that they believe will help create resilience and regeneration. Then you’ll get to share your own ideas and together we’ll figure out what we, as communities, organisations and changemakers, need to make the Byron Shire the blueprint for local and regional positive change. All of our ideas will then be showcased and further workshopped at Renew Fest in May 2021. . Dates / Locations / Guest Speakers: . Feb 13 - BYRON BAY - Delta Kay Feb 27 - BRUNSWICK HEADS - Zara Noruzi Mar 13 - BANGALOW - Richard Jones Mar 27 - BALLINA - Catherine Ingram Apr 17 - FEDERAL - Mandy Nolan We’d love you to join the conversation. 09.01.2022 We are thrilled to have Mandy Nolan join us as a special guest for the fifth event on The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow. This event will be held in Federal on the 17th of April. Mandy is one of Byron Shires most loved public personalities. Her freedom of expression is prolific, and is filled with humour, artful intelligence and raw humanity which is hugely appreciated. Not sure how we could consider resilience in this community without her.. Super buoyed... to hear the news that she has announced she will be running for preselection as the Greens' candidate for the federal seat of Richmond!! Woot Woot!! Mandy Nolan is a true renaissance woman. Comedian, Author, Journalist, MC,KeyNote Speaker, Humour Therapist & Comedy Instructor. Nolan is as at home on the stage as she is on the page. Able to captivate audiences from a diverse socio economic, age and gender demographic: from the rough and tumble of a late night comedy clubs across the country to the considered and measured corporate performances for VIEW Club, or Sydney’s Parliament House or Olivia Newton John’s Invitation Only Private Party. Check all that she does!.. www.mandynolan.com.au + + + + + + + + The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow A series of free events hosted by Renew Fest and Resilient Byron. 08.01.2022 What if the trucks stop coming? It’s quite a predicament to consider hey and it’s the kind of thing we need to talk about and start planning for, as part of The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow.... Catherine Ingram, our guest speaker at the Ballina event and resident of Lennox Heads, has written about this very question in this week’s ECHO newspaper (check it out page 4). Here’s a bit of what she says: What if the back-to-back crises of the bushfires and the pandemic are seen at some point as the good old days? Anyone paying attention to climate collapse, growing economic uncertainty, social unrest, overpopulation, and the poisoning of land, air, and sea by human industry is likely worried. Anyone who understands the scale of extinctions within the living world, the exponentiality of rising heat, and the specter of millions of climate refugees whose home regions can no longer grow food is probably living with a sense of foreboding. You feel it, right? I feel it, too. Yes we feel it and we are looking to the Roadshow to consider this predicament and how we face it, with others feeling it too. + + + + + + + + The Byron Shire Resilience and Regeneration Roadshow A series of free events hosted by Renew Fest and Resilient Byron. 08.01.2022 Mini-bus needed! Can you help?

07.01.2022 Resilience and Regeneration start at home. It starts local. Your backyard, your street, your neighbourhood. But it also relies of having a home, for all of us -- access to shelter that keeps us safe and warm on the inside, and the outside. With a massive price bubble that began during COVID and is still ballooning, housing in the Byron Region has become something of a hot topic, and even a catastrophe.... Mandy Nolan, who is our guest speaker on 17 April at Federal, is this weeks feature in the ECHO answering our question of: How do we create more resilient communities in 2021? She writes about some hard truths. This event will be held in Ballina on the 27th of March. Catherine is one of the advisors and ambassadors of Resilient Byron. The depth of her thought-fulness has led her to consider bravely with her eyes and heart open, the dark knowledge of what we are facing as a human race in these times. Her essay ‘Facing Extinction’ has been... downloaded well over one million times since it was put up two years ago. You can find it here www.catherineingram.com/facingextinction/ Catherine is also an international dharma teacher, author and former journalist. She has led silent retreats and public events called Dharma Dialogues for the past thirty years. Catherine has served on numerous boards, for human rights causes.
