25.01.2022 As we know this year is flying. So when was the last time you changed your toothbrush? If you are needing to change your brush soon our best advice is to use a soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head and a flexible neck because this will most effectively remove plaque and debris from your teeth. Try to replace your brush at the first sign of wear-and-tear or every three months, whichever comes first.... It is also recommended that if you have just had a cold, to replace your toothbrush so you don’t get reinfected by the germs in the bristles. -Source Australian Dental Association #renwickdental #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #centralcoast #centralcoastdentist #changeyourbrush #teeth #sick #healthy #goodhygiene #change #soft #tooth #brush #hygiene #dental See more

25.01.2022 Fluoride. Why is it important? While brushing with fluoridated toothpaste is the most effective way to receive fluoride, taking it through tap water has a considerable effect on the ability of your teeth to fight decay. If you need a fluoride top-up, and most people in fluoridated areas won’t, your dentist can apply high-fluoride products such as gels, foams and varnishes to your teeth.... Your dentist may also suggest the use of fluoride supplements, particularly in areas where water fluoridation isn’t practised. Overall, the benefits of fluoride are considerable. It remains the most cost-effective, fair and naturally-occurring way to keep your teeth healthy. And remember, to make the most of the advantages it affords you, you need to brush twice a day, maintain a healthy, balanced diet, and visit your friendly dentist on a regular basis. -Source Australian Dental Association #renwickdental #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #centralcoastdentist #fluoride #goodhygiene #toothpaste #gel #foam #water #checkup #booknow #call #teeth #healthy #benefits See more

25.01.2022 With social distancing becoming the new normal of 2020 we are wondering, what is it that you're missing? Is it travel, eating out, having family and friends around for a party, handshakes or hugs? When teeth are socially distanced, you might start to miss a few things, depending on whether you are missing one tooth or more, and whether or not it’s a chewing tooth or front one! ... You might become conscious about smiling, miss eating food easily, or even certain types of food. Because of advances in dental technology there are many options to bring both function and smiles together, whether it be a denture, a bridge or implants. Talk to one of our dental team about your options! 24.01.2022 2020. Our profile pic with the band aid was posted on March 31. It represented how much we hurt along with the community over all the changes COVID-19 brought as well as our willingness to provide emergency care during uncertain times. It’s been 6 months now, and here at Renwick Dental, we have been able to return to a new normal and offer our full range of dental services, albeit with covid safe practices in place. We are thankful to be local business and for all the... support we have received from the community this year we are grateful: -To have our doors open -To have our team together -To be able to see our patient community Some of our staff and patient community have had difficult challenges this year. Because of COVID-19, some have lost businesses, lost jobs, or are struggling to stay afloat. Some are facing challenges and changes with family members who have died, struggling with mental health or with cancer and treatment, palliative care or ageing parents who are far away or in nursing homes feeling isolated. Thankfully, some have been doing ok - working from home, busier than ever, welcoming new babies, or still studying. If you are a patient with us, or have been for a long time, we want to journey with you. If circumstances have changed, let us know. We want to not only look after your dental health, but offer it with care, compassion and kindness. If we are able to help look after your oral health and your smile, we know the positive impact it can have on your overall health and well-being. Even when life changes, we want to still be here for you. . . . #renwickdental #centralcoastdentist #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #covid19 #change #difficult #circumstances #kindness #nursinghome #staff #dental #dentalservices #covidsafe #isolation #oral #health #oralhealth #mentalhealth #cancer #babies #patient #journey #community #localbusiness #care #compassion #wellbeing #smile #hereforyou See more

22.01.2022 Another year older, another year wiser. He might wear the badge for being the oldest dentist on the team, but Scott ages like a good red wine. Scott has been with Renwick Dental since the 1990s, and many of his patients are still coming regularly to see him. He has maintained strong and lasting relationships with his patients, and keeps them at ease in the chair with confident diagnosis and treatment planning, explanations and reassurance. Add his special music and a joke... or two! In partnership for the last 16 years, Scott and I (Jeanne) have worked together to develop Renwick Dental. In this time, there has been computerisation of records, growth of the dental team, renovation of Ourimbah, development of our brand, website and social media. We have embraced scanning technology into our clinical work, even while adhering to old fashion quality service. We consider word of mouth to be the biggest compliment. Scott has been a mentor to me and others at work. He leads by example, and in partnership he has always been respectful and treated me as an equal. As both female and junior by more than 10 years, the respect he has given me has taught me to also value this and learn to give this back. COVID-19 was a test for this leadership to navigate through difficult times. As team leader, Scott led with diligence, decisiveness, and the ability to be calm under pressure. He has shown the ability to adapt not just in the 2020 year but through all the years he has worked at Renwick Dental. If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in 2020, it’s having Scott around and we appreciate when good things don’t need to change. . . . #renwickdental #centralcoastdentist #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #scott #cooper #teamrenwickdental #wordofmouth #grow #digital #technology #brand #website #social #media #covid19 #partnership #leadership #mentor #respect #diligence #adapt #change #valued #appreciated See more

20.01.2022 Archives: Partners by Scott A staff member asked me one Christmas, Do you and Jeanne buy one another Christmas presents? My reply, nah, we are like an old married couple! (jokes). I was in partnership with Drs Andrew Moran (Andy) and Ewen Gault from 1994. In 2002, Jeanne joined the practice as the first female dentist to our team. ... Jeanne fit into the ethos of the practice well and learnt a lot of practical dentistry under Andy’s guidance. When Andy semi retired in 2004, he passed the baton to Jeanne who became the youngest partner at age 27. It’s already been 16 years that Jeanne and I have been partners and through those years my boys have grown up, and Jeanne started her family about 5 years ago. We also saw Andy retire and sadly, Ewen pass away from cancer in the year 2009. We’ve seen many seasons and the photos show the change in the building where we work (swipe right) and signs we are older now! 2020 has been a challenging year, but our history and partnership is part of the strength we’ve been given to face these challenges. We know each other’s abilities and there is a high degree of trust. We both want to look after and lead our dental team to deliver an honest, quality service. And we want to make a positive impact and contribute to the local community. We are always welcome to constructive feedback or ideas from the community of how we can improve so comment below or have a chat with us- we are local business and welcome the conversation! #renwickdental #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #partners #partnership #archives #history #throwback #swiperight #trust #local #business #family #dentistry #quality #service #dentalteam #team #community #welcome See more

20.01.2022 What’s in a name? Since July 2018, we have been known as Renwick Dental because it reflects our original location, our history, and values. Our Location... 19.01.2022 Meet Steph. I first met Steph in 2006. We hired her to be trained as a dental assistant. Her former job was as a barista and we always joked that she could at least make good coffee. Steph learnt to be an excellent dental assistant, deciding one day in her early 20s that she wanted to quit and go travel. Over the years, Steph would find work as a dental assistant both in the UK and back home with us; somehow slotting into our employment needs in between her trave...ls. In 2014, Steph decided she wanted more in a career, and resolved to apply for a place in dental school. For the past 5 years, Steph has been at Charles Sturt University to study and train to become a dentist. She has still worked for us, whenever she has been around the Coast, typically over summer holiday breaks. Steph has recently finished her final exams and we are more than a little excited for everything she has accomplished. Her story reflects the strong relationship she has built with Renwick Dental through the years, and the support and encouragement we seek to give our employees, to explore and develop themselves both professionally and personally. 19.01.2022 Archives: Dental team 2004-2020 by Scott Over the years, Renwick Dental has welcomed and farewelled several dentists into the practice. Notably Dr Lawrence Stearn and Dr Andrea Lakatos who worked with us for a considerable period before family and life situations drew them back to Sydney around 2016. ... Over the last 10 years, we are so grateful to have the wonderful Dr Suzette Tabucanon and Dr Alastair Brown during which time they have both started families and put down roots. They are committed to and have grown together with our dental team in the last decade. Dr Caitlin Crowley moved from Bathurst to the Central Coast to join us in 2017 and Dr Valentine Dantel moved from Queensland to join us in 2020. We are also very glad to welcome them into our work family. Jeanne and I are fortunate for our team of like minded professionals and staff who work together. Together, they learn and encourage each other with the differing skill sets they bring to the practice. They do their best to provide quality treatment with care and compassion. 16.01.2022 Can you have privacy and a social media account? As health professionals, we have obligations to our registration body and dental association regarding what we post on social media. Most importantly, those obligations are to protect the privacy of our clients. We will always ask for written consent if we can post a picture of either our staff or clients and while it’s really heartening to hear people’s stories or reviews you may not find a lot of them within our posts.... What you will find is insight into Renwick Dental: who we are, what we do and what’s new. At times, you will get snippets into the behind the scenes of our professional face. And at other times, information that will help you in achieving better dental health. We truly appreciate our online community and those who follow us on our social media channels. Remember that you can choose to disclose if you are a staff member, a patient or how you are connected to Renwick Dental when you comment or engage on social media. 11.01.2022 Have you previously had radiation therapy, or are planning to undergo radiation therapy? Have you seen your dentist for a dental check up and treatment plan? "2 weeks ago, it was confirmed that my dad has stage 4 brain cancer, and while the prognosis is grim, he wants to undergo radiation therapy as soon as possible. At a time when my family and I are grappling with the shocking news, I was also busy figuring out a dental plan for him. My appointments for 2020 are now l...imited. I appreciate all the support from the team at Renwick Dental and all my patients for their understanding and urging me to spend time with my dad. Thank you!" Dr Jeanne Chong Did you know that: 1. Radiation therapy destroys some of the small blood vessels in the bone, thus making it more difficult for bone to heal. It is recommended that teeth with a poor prognosis should be extracted, with time to heal (at least 2-3 weeks) before radiation therapy. In the future, it is best not to extract teeth from an area which was irradiated. 2. Radiation therapy can cause a dry mouth (xerostomia) or soreness and redness of the soft tissues (oral mucositis). A dentist can recommend products containing fluoride, calcium, phosphate to help remineralisation of the enamel, or gels to assist with the dry mouth. It is important to continue good oral hygiene with regular brushing and flossing to maintain the health of the gums and teeth. Regular visits to the dentist will help you to stay on top of your oral health. For all those who have known someone with cancer, or are going through the cancer journey themselves, we are here to support you and walk alongside to ensure optimum care for your teeth and smile. . . . . . #renwickdental #wyomingnsw #ourimbahnsw #centralcoastdentist #centralcoast #dentalteam #dentists #workfamily #news #cancer #radiation #therapy #thankyou #family #support #hygiene #fluoride #brush #floss #healthygums #teeth #checkup #treatmentplan #care See more

09.01.2022 Dental x-rays are important for a number of reasons. The main reason is they can be used to see areas of decay that can’t be seen visually by the dentist while having a general check up. Dental x-rays can show: - Wisdom teeth if present and how they are positioned in the mouth. ... - Areas of decay especially between the teeth. - The shape of the root or the presence of bone to assist with diagnosis, planning and treatment for root canals, extractions and implants. Especially now with digital technology, having a dental x-ray involves an extremely low amount of radiation and the images are processed quickly to allow the information to be obtained during your appointment. 04.01.2022 Archives: 8 Renwick Street, Wyoming (photos 2003) The original owner Dr Andrew Moran opened for business on 11th July 1977. Assisted by 2 nurses Debbie and Vicki, 5 patients were seen on that first day. Soon after opening, Dr Moran decided his work week would consist of 4 days, and he would open late on Mondays and Tuesdays. It was the first dental surgery on the Central Coast to offer late hours. Today, the majority of our dental team operates on a 4 day working week and w...e continue to provide late night appointments Monday to Thursday, which have always been popular time slots for commuters and busy families. As a business, we are open for appointments Monday to Friday. The original house stood until 2003 when Dr Moran’s vision of a purpose built dental surgery came into being. 02.01.2022 What’s your favourite drink? For all times of day and for your teeth, water - yes, good old-fashioned, straight out of the tap water is the best! Many drinks out there have high sugar content or acidity which can lead to tooth decay or erosion. Be aware of what you are drinking and read the labels. ... You can quickly tell if the product you’re consuming has sugar or acid by checking for words like: -honey -rice syrup -organic dehydrated cane juice -citric acid (a flavor enhancer) -sodium benzoate (a preserving agent); generally if the ingredient ends in an ate, it’s an acidic preservative of some kind. It’s still ok to have a wine, soft drink, juice or whatever drink you enjoy ... but consider it all in moderation. Use a straw and dilute juice by adding water. Consider the frequency of consumption through the day and week and the impact on your teeth. Remember that water hydrates, and has the benefit of fluoride which has been proven to protect your teeth and reduce decay. Water is the best drink for your teeth and it’s free! Cheers! 02.01.2022 When should I introduce my child to a dentist?
