01.05.2022 At approximately 4am this morning #NSWAmbulance tasked the Westpac #RescueHelicopter to transport a patient from #Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital to John Hunte...r Hospital. The elderly male, suffering from a serious medical condition, was stabilised by hospital staff and then, due to weather conditions, was transported by road ambulance to the Tamworth Base and airlifted to #Newcastle. 18.04.2022 The Westpac #RescueHelicopter was tasked this afternoon on a time critical inter-hospital medical transfer from #Armidale Hospital to #Westmead Hospital. The #Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team stabilised the elderly male patient prior to escorting him in flight to #Sydney.

We are lucky to have retrieval #nurses in the John Hunter Hospital Medical Retrieval Team who play a crucial role in our #InterHospitalTransfers, and of course the nurses we work with in Hospitals right across #NorthernNSW. Ali and Matt are two such nurses, part of the John Hunter Medical Retrieval Team, who escort patients in flight from regional hospitals to the John Hunter in order to receive further specialist medical treatment. Ali has work...ed in Critical Care Services since 2011 and attributes her career to the amazing team from the John Hunter Hospital Adult and Paediatric ICU's. Post graduate undertakings in Adult Critical Care and Trauma, Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing, Aeromedical Retrieval and ongoing Masters in Public Health have helped gain knowledge in how to deliver quality care to those when on retrievals. "The retrieval nurses care deeply about our community, especially those who live in regional or remote areas and are disadvantaged by the distance to large metropolitan hospitals. The Hunter Retrieval Service wants to improve survival and health outcomes for the critically ill in our state, and support treating clinicians in our referring sites. It's an honour to care for our patients and we can't do it without our local helicopter service, Ali said. Matt is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Adult and Paediatric Intensive Care Units at John Hunter Hospital, and has many years of nursing experience at the bedside and as a Clinical Nurse Educator. "It's a privilege working on the retrieval service as it allows us to provide critical care to those living in regional communities. It's great working in a tight knit team where you feel like you’ve been able to make a difference in people’s lives for both adult and paediatric patients on what is often their worst day, Matt concluded. 23.03.2022 The Westpac #RescueHelicopter was tasked earlier today to a serious single vehicle accident at #SaltAsh, with a car into a pole.Local #NSWAmbulance #Paramedic...sarrived on scene and carried out initial treatment on the male driver before the arrival of the #Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team. The man was released from the vehicle suffering lacerations and a broken leg and was transported by road to John Hunter Hospital. See more

28.02.2022 Overnight the Westpac #RescueHelicopter was tasked to a property at #Scone where a female sustained pelvic and lower back injuries in a horse riding accident. T...he patient was treated on scene by local #NSWAmbulance #Paramedics before she was transported by road to rendezvous with the helicopter at Scone Hospital. The #Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team took over treatment, stabilised the woman and escorted her in flight to John Hunter Hospital. See more
