25.01.2022 This week we were completing some reticulation repairs in North Beach for Stephan. Stephan was finding his old reticulation controller could work on manual override however couldn’t be programmed to work on automatic. We installed a new 6 station Rainbird TM2 reticulation controller with a system test, resistance test of all valves and master solenoids, along with a 3 year domestic warranty.... These controllers are the go to for irrigation contractors for their reliability, durability and ease of use for both the contractors and home owners. When completing the resistance test on the station solenoids, we noticed both station one and two had no resistance at the coils, suggesting either a cut cable or two ‘’burnt’’ out coils. We located the two solenoids directly next to the water meter. They were in extremely poor condition, and we suggested to Stephan it might be wise to instead of replace the coils only, to replace the entire valves and diaphragms. We use Irritrol 25mm BSP solenoid valves, these quality US made solenoids are outstanding in performance and water flow. Back up at the controller unit we programmed and set the controller for Stephan, along with changing a few of the micro risers in the garden bed beside the driveway. 24.01.2022 The team at Ryan’s Reticulation is back in full swing after the Christmas break, and this week was a busy one completing reticulation repairs in Innaloo for Darryl. Darryl’s job was one of the most tedious we have had to complete for a while now, not only did he require a new reticulation controller but none of the solenoids in the back garden or lawn had any resistance or lectrical readings. We definitely had our work cut out for us. Adam and I installed a new Rainbird TM2 c...ontroller initially, we then went on to locate the solenoids in the back garden with the Armada Pro 800 valve locating tool. Thankfully we could locate the solenoids relatively easily however this wasn’t where the problem was located somewhere between the solenoids and the new reticulation controller was a cut common wire. Utilizing the valve locating wand again we can send an electrical current down the common wire to trace where the signal stops, the wand picks up the signal until there is a cut or a break in the cable. We located the cut wire underneath a medium sized shrub, where the roots had grown throw the conduit and split the cable. A bit of skill is required and experience with the wand to do it this way, not to mention a bit of sheer luck as well! 24.01.2022 This recent call out we had required a reticulation controller replacement in Hocking. Samantha was having a few problems with her reticulation controller to say the least. She kept on noticing her lawn and garden was wet on her non watering days, there had been no rain, not to mention that the winter sprinkler ban from the 01 of June - 31st of August was still in place. Samantha didn't think too much about it until her water bill came in at over $800!... 23.01.2022 Here we have a reticulation job in Ballajura we completed last week. Our client wanted reticulation installed for a small garden area in his back yard. Unfortunatley we were unable to utlise the existing reticulation system for the front yard as both sides of the property have concrete driveways and paths.... 23.01.2022 Ivan was having troubles programming his reticulation controller and needed some urgent reticulation repairs in Carramar. He was finding that no matter what times or programmes he set into his old Holman Rainscape, the reticulation was still coming on at odd times and days when it wasn’t supposed to be. The dial on the Rainscape was also extremely stiff and barely able to operate or select settings, which is unfortunately a very common occurrence and fault with this particula...r model. We spoke with Ivan about a potential upgrade to a new controller. 22.01.2022 We received a call from a customer who needed reticulation repairs in Iluka. Neville wasnt too happy when every time he turned on his reticulation system the sprinklers on station 4 continuously popped up, no matter what station he put on these station 4 sprinklers just kept coming on. This is an all too common problem in the reticulation field as with everything, without proper maintenance and care items will fail. ... In this particular case the station 4 had not only a faulty coil but also a seized diaphragm, not allowing the solenoid valve to shut off when it should hence it staying completely open, no matter what station was turned on with the reticulation system. We replaced the old solenoid valve with an Irritrol 25mm solenoid and slip fix. These solenoids are the best in the business and the go to choice for reticulation contractors due to their durability and reliability. After 24 hours of the PVC cement curing, we returned to test Nevilles system and all was back to normal. Its extremely important to let the PVC cement set otherwise the water will push the wet glue into the valve, causing it to be stuck open and we will be back to square one! 20.01.2022 We recently got a call from a client needing reticulation repairs in Ocean Reef. To say our client Gavin needed help with his reticulation would have been somewhat of an understatement. He had sold his house pending settlement, unknowingly with a reticulation system that didnt work. Upon arrival we ran through both physical and electrical testing procedures, coming to the conclusion that Gavin needed 6 out of the 7 solenoid valves on his system replaced, along with a whole ...new multi core cable run from the front of his property to the back right hand corner. We started with tracking the solenoids with an Armada Pro 800 valve locating system, whoever installed the system did a great job of hiding them! All the valves were located and replaced where needed with top of the range Irritrol BSP solenoids. Next we moved onto running a new multi core cable to the furthest solenoid as somewhere over the 60m stretch it had been cut or frayed, luckily we could secure it to the main line running to that particular solenoid. We returned the next day once all the PVC cement had dried and the system was fully functional and running perfectly. Settlement was in 2 days and Gavin was delighted that that was one less thing he had to worry about. 19.01.2022 Here at Ryan’s Reticulation we do a lot of works on rural and acreage properties, and this week was no exception completing some reticulation repairs in Gnangara Hayley has a beautiful property in Gnangara, set on 7 acres of pristine whisper quiet trees and grass along with fruit trees and vegetable patches, however the properties irrigation system wasn’t working properly to water this beautiful landscape. Hayley was finding that her current reticulation controller wasn’t fu...nctioning as it should, with some of the features of the12 station system playing up. The controller was roughly 14 years old and due for an upgrade, as a preferred Rainbird installer we installed a 12 station TM2 reticulation controller with the WIFI compatible module, along with a 3 year warranty. 18.01.2022 This week we were contacted by Bert Snr who required some reticulation repairs in Mariginiup at his rural property. After completing a large overhaul of his son’s reticulation system that was a similar size on Badgerup road in Wanneroo, Bert Snr thought it was time he did the same. Sitting on 6 acres of beautiful prime land, however the reticulation system wasn’t quite up to scratch. The system itself was nearly 40 years old, running all 50mm valves except for 2 smaller ga...rden areas. Two of the 50mm valves needed to be replaced as they were seized open, absorbing all of the gigantic pressure being pumped out from the bore. Adam and I also replaced the two smaller 25mm valves in the vegetable patch and garden around the pool as they were poorly performing due to being completely filled with iron and debris out of the bore. After this, we moved onto replacing and adjusting some of the damaged PGP gear drive sprinklers scattered throughout the property. These pop up sprinklers are similar to what you would find on a local park or oval and are best suited for these types of applications. To say it was a long day would be somewhat of an understatement but we got there in the end and now both Bert Snr and his son’s irrigation systems are running at peak performance for the season ahead. 17.01.2022 On another busy summers day we were completing some reticulation repairs in Gwelup for Judith. Judith originally contacted us wanting a new reticulation controller installed as her old Rainbow which was 24 years old was no longer operational. 16.01.2022 This week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Sorrento for Leon. He was finding that due to a recent power outage in the area his controller unit had set off the irrigation and his station one of the sprinklers wouldn’t shut off. Luckily enough for Leon we could get out there that afternoon to help with the situation. With the Hunter X-cores, as was with the case with this particular job, they are renowned for what’s called fusion in the circuit board when a surge... of power enters the controller just prior to a blackout. If the controller is hardwired through an RCD (majority of the time in with the lights RCD in the main switchboard) it can be prevented however this wasn’t the case for Leon. As a preferred Rainbird installer, we changed the Hunter X-core over to a Rainbird ESP-TM2 6 station controller. We also provided Leon with a cause of damage report for his insurance, making it that much easier to process the claim on his new controller unit. We replaced half a dozen pop up sprinklers in Leon’s front lawn also, as we noticed on the system test there was extremely poor coverage and the lawn had quite significant dry patches in certain areas. Leon was certainly happy he didn’t have to leave his mains turned off for any longer than a day. 11.01.2022 This week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Stirling for Candace. Candace initially contacted us requiring a new tap timer, as her old Holman wasn’t operational anymore and she was finding every time she tried to turn it on, nothing would happen. As a preferred Rainbird installer we suggested the Rainbird Automatic Digital PRO Tap Timer. These tap timers are by far the best of the domestic market at the moment, not only does it have all the reputable Rainbird ...features, it's also easy to program and operate for the home owner plus allows for 30% better water flow than less reputable tap timers. Although they are a little bit more expensive than what you would find in your local hardware store, the quality and durability far outweighs having to change over cheaper models every year or having them malfunction in the middle of summer whilst you’re on Christmas holidays! 10.01.2022 This week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Alexander Heights for Jeremy. Jeremy had recently had a new bore bump installed and required a small extension from his existing system to a garden bed in front of his pergola that was originally paved and would now require landscaping, plants and reticulation. We recommended Martin Cuthbert Landscapes for the landscaping part, however we were more than happy to complete the irrigation side of things. ... Adam and I ran 25mm class 9 PVC for the main line, along with 19mm poly with 300mm risers and umbrella caps for the new garden bed area. The bore was putting out exceptional pressure so there was no need to be sparse with the placement or coverage of the sprayers. When you have water pressure like this it’s better to have more than less. On the rough landscaping sketch Jeremy was intending on having a few fruit trees, the existing shrubs along with a few ground covers with this in mind overhead spray irrigation was the way to go along with flood bubblers to the fruit tree locations for an additional soaking. We also fixed a handful of gear drive sprinklers on the front and rear lawn areas along with some micro sprayers on either side of the property and around the spa. Jeremy was pleased with the finished product and was keen to get the landscaping project finished. 09.01.2022 We were recently contacted by Anne who needed reticulation repairs in Madeley. The repairs required were for both her controller unit and one of her solenoids. After some work diagnosing and fault finding we discovered that her master solenoid had completely seized whilst open. This resulted in having a charged mains water line throughout her property.... 06.01.2022 This week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Ridgewood along with an installation for Colleen. Colleen had a few repairs that needed to be done on her original system, as well as an extension that was required for a new lawn installation we would be doing at the end of August. Initially however, we needed to fix the ongoing problem with her station 3 solenoid along with the master valve that was shorting the entire system.... We located the master valve beside the water meter and gate valve that was easily replaced with a 25mm Irritrol BSP master valve, however the station 3 solenoid wasn’t as easy. We utilised the Armada Pro solenoid detecting wand to try and locate the solenoid but it was playing hard to find for us. With the majority of solenoids we can locate them in under half an hour with the wand, but over an hour of searching and the location of all 4 other solenoids, we couldn’t find the elusive number 3. Just before we were ready to throw the towel in we got a signal under the decking. The carpenters had installed the raised deck directly over the solenoid. We cut it out and replaced it, along with cutting out a ‘hatch’ with hinges in the deck for future inspection or repairs. Colleen was delighted with the end result and we will be returning to complete the new reticulation and lawn installation in a few weeks. 03.01.2022 Last week we were contacted by a customer that needed reticulation repairs in Connolly. Julia contacted us regarding her reticulation system that needed some urgent attention. She explained on the phone that her system had extremely high water pressure that would blow the tops off her sprinklers, something that is just about unheard of when dealing with reticulation systems on mains water.... To our surprise when we fired up the reticulation system upon arrival the first station, in the first 10 seconds blew the heads straight off 2 sprinklers! To say we were stunned would be somewhat of an understatement! Here at Ryans Reticulation we can always find a way. Our suggestion to Julia was that we replace all the standard pop ups with PGJ gear drives to begin with. 02.01.2022 Our client Martin is a regular customer of ours and when he contacted us last week needing a few minor alterations to his reticulation in Burns Beach, we were more than happy to help! Martin had just had a water filtration system installed to his water meter, however this had severely impacted the reticulation system. 02.01.2022 Last week we were completing some reticulation repairs in Wembley Downs for Luke. Initially Luke contacted us in regards to requiring a new reticulation controller as his old Orbit Rain Dial had malfunctioned. This particular model was over 20 years old so it had most certainly served its purpose and done the job. As a preferred Rainbird supplier we installed a new Rainbird TM2 6 station with the WIFI compatible module. Last week we were completing a reticulation installation for James, he had a property developed in Eglinton that required a front and rear installation. Like with all our new installations, we met James onsite prior to the quotation to work through exactly what type of system he would require, how many stations, reticulation controller options, assessing water flow rates and where the pla...cement of prelays would be required. Once the quotation was accepted a date was organised for works to begin. Having the groundhog trencher machine makes life that little bit easier especially with established lawns and gardens.
