We have had so many new orders online and Im used to seeing faces in-store so I just wanted to say thank you for following and for your support of @retreatlifestyleau . I opened Retreat 16 years ago and never imagined I would be trying to keep my business afloat through a pandemic.... At the start of the year I had a friend help me get a very basic website up. Im a little old school and knew I needed to get with the times but it was out of my comfort zone. Once I found out Retreat would close due to COVID restrictions, my wife, who can pretty much accomplish anything she puts her mind too, gave the website a makeover and I couldnt believe the success. 10.01.2022 STAY LIT! What is the best way to care for your candles? Here are a few candle tips to get the best from your home fragrance!... The first time you light your candle is the most important. Ensure that you leave your candle burning until the top surface has liquified. This will prevent candle tunnelling throughout the rest of the life of your candle. With each use, do not allow candle to burn less than 1 hour or longer than 4 hours. (This is why we recommend having numerous candles to burn around the house; once you blow one out, you just light another). If the candle wick shifts, wait until after your candle is lit and the wax is warm but not hot. This is the best point to reposition your candle wick to centre. Never move a burning candle. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid and jar is cold before handling. Never leave your candle unattended. Keep candles away from pets and children, and away from draughts and curtains. Glass may become hot. Protect the surface you burn your candle on with a wooden base or small plate. Do not use lid to extinguish candle. Prevent soot from forming on the glass by keeping wicks properly placed and trimmed. Never allow the candle flame to come in contact with the side of the glass. Do not use if glass is cracked, chipped or broken. If candle has multiple wicks, they must all be lit every time the candle is used. Never introduce liquids or foreign objects into candle and keep it free of wick trimmings, matches and any flammable materials. If the glass becomes blackened while burning, extinguish candle, allow to cool and clean with a dry paper towel. When not in use, keep candle covered to avoid dust build-up. Use a candle snuffer to properly extinguish a candle flame. If not available, blow gently and steadily on the flame until it is extinguished. Some days it definitely feels like there are more twist and turns than others. I just didnt have my spark these last two days and whats frustrating is I cant quite put my finger on what it is. I had an awesome day yesterday with Jagger and JJ even I didnt tick anything off my to do list, the weekend celebrating Jamie was one of the... best. Why do I feel this way? Maybe its because I want a date of when I get to hug my Dad or see my family again. Maybe Im homesick. Maybe I miss my friends more than I realise. Maybe I just want to see smiles when I go out. Maybe Im feeling for those who are suffering more. I took myself downstairs today and tried to breathe it out. Breathing just didnt work today. So I cried. I cried and I cried and I cried. I cried until I couldnt cry anymore. I try to find the positive in everyday because there is always something to be thankful for. A friend said it perfectly, In case you were feeling Mehhhhh, today or tomorrow, or every day at the moment, because this shit is unprecedented and were all learning ways to adapt and get the best from ourselves.
