25.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure teaching these 10 Coaches the ins and outs of coaching weightlifting. This was the first of its kind specifically for coaches and will be the start of many after the success of today! 24.01.2022 Great news from Mark McGowen on how WA will plan to move back towards our new normal. . For us, this means we will be opening with restrictions on the 18th of May. This will include Barbell Club Sessions with limited numbers, Small Group and Personal Training. Unfortunately, Open Gym access is out of the question until phase 3 is announced. . We will adopt a booking system for the barbell club to limit barbell and plate use to one per person and continue the incredibly str...ict hygienic protocols we start started prior to shutdown. . 19.01.2022 Reflection upon covid shutdown, yesterdays comp, record member numbers and barbell club attendance and the recent overall atmosphere has made me so appreciative of how incredible the #RevBBC community really is. Community doesnt grow by accident and it sure isnt an easy task to build. But when it works, it truely is something amazing to be apart of. Thank you to our #RevBBC family. You are my WHY.

19.01.2022 Do you truely want to improve your technique or get stronger? Simply completing the reps or the the exercise is not enough, you need to put the effort and intent in to every single rep. - Every single rep is an opportunity to improve yourself, but only if you treat it as such. - Cutting your pull? Weak and slow turnover? Then this is what you need to be focusing on with your light weights, pull an empty bar as high as possible, turnover an empty barbell as if its your 1RM. We...ak in the bottom position? Sit in the hole every damn rep! - Sure, accessory exercises are going to help as well, but nothing compares to the real thing. Go into every session with a goal, what you are working on and how you are going to implement that. Going through the motions will get you nowhere fast! - Beginner lifters, make sure you are discussing your intent with your coach, with so much going into learning new movements, it is hard for you to prioritise what is most important for you. 16.01.2022 We all know that Consistency trumps everything. It doesnt matter how Good your program is, the coaching you are receiving, the training environment, it all means nothing if you arent showing up regularly. - The simplest tip to be consistent is to set regular training times and days, and simply - show up! Too often we get caught in the tomorrow trap if you do not have set days. Its ok, ill catch up tomorrow. Before you know it, you only get one session in and the tomorro...w trap, turns into the ill just start next week when I can get a full week in trap. - If you ever partake in a team sport, its simple. Training is Tuesday and Thursday Night, you play Saturday. Take this approach to your training and it is simple to prioritise. Be hard on yourself and keep these days, dont shuffle and change to make other plans, this is de-valuing how important it is to you. Team sports - Dont show up to Thursday night training, Saturday, you dont play! Weightlifting - Dont show up during the week, you wont hit that PB that you want! And hell, we all want those PBs! 13.01.2022 Sports Dietitian Arianne discussing creatine supplementation and why this is beneficial for strength sports What is Creatine?... Creatine is a compound which is produced naturally by the body and which we can obtain by including meat and fish in our diet. Creatine is stored in our muscles as creatine phosphate, and has an important role in energy production. When we train, we use up a molecule called ATP to produce energy having increased creatine phosphate stores in our muscles helps replenish ATP so we can produce more energy. Why is this beneficial? If we have more energy we can do more work, more volume in training and also delay fatigue. This can lead to a wide variety of performance benefits which have been linked to creatine supplementation, including: Increased strength and performance in high intensity, short duration activities Increased power output Increased lean body mass Decreased recovery time Who should supplement with creatine? Anyone undertaking any sort of strength or power based sport will benefit from supplementing with creatine. If you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet you will also benefit from supplementing with creatine, as your muscle stores will generally be lower compared to someone who regularly consumes meat. How do you supplement with creatine? Creatine monohydrate is the only type of creatine that is worth taking - taking 5 g per day is optimal dosage and it doesn’t matter what time of the day you take it.
