21.01.2022 More than 90% of the materials used to make Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre’s astounding summer decorations came from Reverse Garbage. They're made by students from Design Centre Enmore TAFE. This local collaboration is a fantastic example of how with a little bit of creativity, reuse resources can be given new life and hold their own against brand new installations. We hope other shopping centres and corporates will be inspired to follow suit. Find out more about how th...is all came about and see some making photos here: https://reversegarbage.org.au//sustainable-shopping-centr/ See more

18.01.2022 Win a class incursion by making a 100% reuse Christmas tree. Everything from the tree to the decorations must have lived a life as something else before it hits the tree - bottletops, CDs, old Christmas cards, packaging, old toys. It can be any size and any shape - as long as there's nothing new! This will be a great chance to talk about how much waste we make and where it goes. It will also allow students to get creative and think about how they can reuse old disregarded items. Open to early childhood and school age. Entries close 11 December 2020. Click below for all terms and conditions.

12.01.2022 Fabulous example of reuse here. This NAIDOC banner is from years past. Tuck up the date and it can be used for years to come. And knowing this team of clever creative reusers, when NAIDOC week is over this banner will be converted into a hammock, a swing or a tent! Great work guys! We have more of these NAIDOC banners if you want to prepare for next year. $7 each.... Always was. Always will be.

12.01.2022 Halloween inspiration from the Smith family.... They bought a Chinese lantern here, and painted them with a mix of fabric and acrylic paints to turn them into this Halloween decoration. Looks so good that they came back for more today and found a sack full of ghoul (mannequin parts) to add to their cemetery head stones and zombies. ... I'll send those through also.(next week) Halloween is big in our suburb (Beaumont Hill) as it's a fun opportunity to walk around the local neighbourhood and talk to neighbours you don't get to see often. Mum, Kim, loves Halloween for the community atmosphere but hates the fact that all store-bought decorations are plastic, disposable and expensive. "Repurposing purchases from your lovely organisation and some of our own waste (boxes, timber) has kept the kids entertained through COVID." Thanks Kim. BTW, we still have lanterns and sacks of ghoul for $15.

11.01.2022 How would you put these together? And keep them together. If this table of treasure sets your mind spinning, you need to come along to our Assemblage Sculpture workshop starting 21 October. More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/324945258605874/
