22.01.2022 Are you a farmer in the Qld Central Western region and interested in being a participant in joint research project between between Penn State University, Monash University and Newcastle University? It's investigating how agricultural communities and individuals are experiencing transformative resilience in the context of disasters. The researchers are particularly focused on the following questions: ... What actions are being adopted in communities that have experienced catastrophic disasters to facilitate transformative resilience on an individual level and community level? What are the gendered impacts of climate-induced disasters in farming communities? What are men and women’s roles in climate change adaptation and mitigation? Do women and men have the same opportunities and access to resources to undertake adaptation and mitigation practices? What are the gendered impacts of COVID-19 in farming communities and how is this impacting the building of transformative resilience? This research is being conducted in three diverse geographical areas of Australia impacted by different types of disasters. These areas are in the CWQ (Qld), northern coastal regions of NSW and northern Victorian communities. Similar research will also be conducted in the US.
