19.01.2022 We're back!!! Dust off your Doboks - We resume training Monday 22nd June. We have some strict return to training rules we must follow. We will discuss in further detail on Monday, however please see below an outline of these rules:... * 1.5m social distancing applies at all times. * No physical contact. * No one to enter the venue without an instructor present. * All persons entering the venue must complete a health questionnaire requiring them to acknowledge that within the last 14 days they have not had relevant Covid 19 symptoms, been overseas or been in contact with someone that has or is suspected of having Covid 19. * The name, address and contact number of any person entering the venue will be recorded and a record will be kept for 28 days. * Students and parents must not attend if they are unwell. Any person presenting with symptoms will be asked to leave immediately. * Hand sanitiser will be used by each person when entering or leaving the venue. * Any training equipment will not be shared and if used will be sanitised before further use. * Students will be required to bring their own water bottle. The use of drinking fountains and taps will not be permitted. If you would like to trial with our branch, please contact Sabum Matthew to book in as we must adhere to maximum venue numbers. 19.01.2022 Mini class- Attached is a spell your name workout for the warm up. Instead of your name, use the name of the street you live on. If the street name is 4 letters or less, do it twice! Complete your previous pattern twice. Complete your current pattern twice.... Look at your stances, look at the start and finish of your techniques. Can they be improved? Of course they can! The basics are so important, so work on doing them well. 10 Side Thrust Kicks ( both legs), 10 Front Snap Kicks (both legs) 10 back kicks If safe to do so and you have enough space, 1 step jumping front snap kick. 20 Mid Section Punches in Horse Riding Stance. Moving forward in a forward stance, practice your raising blocks. Moving backward in a forward stance, practice your low section blocks. We should hear your Keeyup from here! 18.01.2022 Mini class - Jogging on the spot for 30 seconds. In 5 second intervals jump as high as you can with your knees tucked up. Make sure you Keeup with each jump. 15 jumps minimum!... Stretch your arm across your body, pull your elbow towards your chest with your other hand and stretch out. Hold for 20seconds. Switch arms and repeat. Touch you shoulders with your fingertips and rotate forward in a circular motion for 20 seconds. Do the same thing but go the opposite direction. On the spot 20 stationary lunges. Swap legs, another 20 lunges. Horse riding stance, 20 squats. Another 20 squats adding in a front snap kick after every squat, alternating legs. Deep breathing... in through the nose, out through the mouth. Slow your heart rate down. Regulate your breath. Focus and control- When you're ready for board destruction you need to focus your techniques on a specific area. Find an area that has enough space for you to do proper technique. If you have someone in your household to hold a focus pad or small pillow, ask for their help. If not, select a non-breakable target. For this exercise we aren't looking for full power, only focus and control. Start with 5 Front Snap Kicks each leg. Aim for your focus area. Look at your technique. Is your knee raised up and bent before you extend your leg? Are your toes pulled back? Did you hit your target? Are you looking at your target 100% of the time? Repeat with side thrust kick, back kick, turning kick and a kick of your choice. Also repeat with knife hand strike, mid section punch and back fist. 15.01.2022 We are on the countdown for our start back date - 1st February.... For those students who would like to get back into training a bit earlier, Sabum Owen from Rhee Tae Kwon Do Springfield has generously invited our students to train at his branch. The first night back is tomorrow, Tuesday 12/1 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Along with the normal Covid Safe plan in place, all students, instructors and parents watching with need to wear a mask until 21/1/21(children aged 12 and under are e...xempt). 15.01.2022 Mini Class- With the cooler weather upon us, stretching is even more important to warm up your muscles and promote flexibility and uninhibited movement for our techniques. Jog on the spot for 30 seconds.... Roll your shoulders forward and then backwards for 20 seconds. Raise your arms above your head and stretch as far up as you can. Bend down to touch your toes. Bend your right leg up to your chest, hold it as closely as you can and balance. Now do the same with your left leg. Lift your leg up straight out in front of you with your toes pulled back. Hold for 10 seconds. Now out to the side. Now behind you. Change legs and repeat. Core strength challenge- Planking! Get into planking position and hold for 10 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds. Planking position and hold for 20 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds. Planking position and hold for 30 seconds. Rest for 10 seconds. Planking position and hold for 60 seconds.... keep holding... hang in there... push through the pain... and rest. Well done! Slow motion Shadow Sparring- This allows you to look at your techniques and practice different combinations. Make sure you include blocks as if you are sparring an opponent. You have heard our instructors counting in Korean during class, so all future black belts should learn it also. 1 Ha na... 2 Dool 3 Set 4 Net 5. Ta sot 6 Yo sot 7 ILL gop 8 Yo doll 9 Ah hop 10 Yol Warm up - Yol x Sit ups Ta sot x Push ups ILL gop x Squats Net x Lunges Yo doll + ILL gop x mid section, high section and low section punches in Horse Riding stance Complete your current pattern twice through. Right back stance guarding block Front Snap kick 20 each leg Once you have done the kick, go back to guarding stance so you're not moving forward. Left backstance guarding block Side Thrust Kick 10 each leg Foward stance - right leg at the front High section block, low section block. Making sure you bring your fist to your shoulder at the start of each technique. 20 of each Forward stance - left leg at the front High section block, low section block 20 of each Jogging on the spot... jogging on the balls of your feet.
