23.01.2022 Good Morning Rhodes parkrunners, I thought I would write a quick note to everyone. It has now been just over a month since parkrun has been cancelled due to COVID19. It has been a very challenging time and I know I am not alone when I say I miss parkrun and our community at Rhodes. Normally at this time of the year, I am busy gearing up to celebrate our anniversary, this year will be our fifth anniversary (first weekend in May) but I dare say unfortunately this year we probab...ly won’t be able to celebrate in person. Clearly, we wouldn’t have got to the five-year mark without an incredible number (3221 to be precise) of volunteers, as well as a number of unofficial volunteers that assist in the smooth running each week. I would also like to make a special mention of all the current run directors, Simon and Lisa Nash, Sebastian and Erika Archer, Adrian and Annette Ferris, Mark Lehane, Mike Richardson, Nicole Petrin and Ercan Boduk. I would also like to acknowledge all the past run directors that have also contributed to Rhodes parkrun. Together we have had 262 events and have clocked 61,751 individual times. The decision to start running again will be made by parkrun Global team, based on medical, scientific advice, and operational factors including impact on volunteers and the event team. Originally we were going to shut until the end of April, however, it is highly likely that we will remain closed through May at a minimum. I will keep you updated with any further details when they become clear. But everyone’s safety is foremost in our minds and we don’t want to jeopardise anyone’s health. I hope you are all staying well, and together we will get through this. Hamish Campbell Event Director Rhodes parkrun. PS I have attached an image of the start line at event number 3 and a photo from our last physical event. PPS Some of us have formed an unofficial virtual run each weekend feel free to join us https://www.facebook.com/groups/245794499923388

21.01.2022 Well done to the 24 Rhodes parkrunners posting (not) parkrun times this week. Lets aim to get into Australia's top 5 parkruns by end of September. This week's number 5 was Hastings Foreshore parkrun with 48 participants....well within our reach! https://www.parkrun.com.au/rhodes/results/notparkrun/

19.01.2022 Whilst we are not yet sure exactly when parkrun will recommence, one of our locals has kindly shared two videos recorded on the course, with us. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/4QwZ06gOPh4 https://youtu.be/MSZULB7zt0U

18.01.2022 Dear parkrunners, This is to remind you that our global parkrun organisation is encouraging parkrunners not to turn up to their usual parkrun course at parkrun time (8am) on Saturday. The primary reason for this is the wellbeing of our community in these uncertain times and also to protect the great reputation which parkrun has in our local community. On a positive note, the August parkrun volunteer update from James Kemp, our Global Operations Manager said that situations are changing on a daily basis and we hope to see the return of some events in the coming months. Stay safe and we hope to see you back at parkrun soon.

17.01.2022 It’s Volunteers week 18-24 May - a big thank you to all our volunteers you’re the best!

15.01.2022 Happy Friday Rhodes parkrunners. We’d like to share the latest update from parkrun HQ. Whilst it is impossible to say exactly when we can re-commence our favourite activity to start the weekend, we will return. https://blog.parkrun.com//covid-19-coronavirus-update-14-/

11.01.2022 Well done to the 33 Rhodes not parkrunners who posted times this week and congratulations to Steven Kim for taking first place with a sub 20 minute time. The numbers are increasing and this week we're in 10th position Australia wide. We're still aiming for a top 5 position, so please don't forget to submit your time when you receive your weekly email on Saturday. https://www.parkrun.com.au/rhodes/results/notparkrun/
