24.01.2022 Do you remember the Slip Slop Slap ad from the 80s? Well, the message is still just as important today. This week is National Skin Cancer Action Week, and as we head into summer it is a timely reminder to Slip Slop Slap (& Seek and Slide) when outdoors. With 2 in 3 Queenslanders being diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, we must protect our skin by:... - Slipping on protective clothing - Slopping on sunscreen - Slapping on a broad-brimmed hat - Seeking shade - Sliding on sunglasses To find out more, visit, https://cancerqld.org.au/cancer-prevention/sun-protection/

24.01.2022 Happy 18th Birthday and have a wonderful Redland District Special School Graduation Night Miss Courtney! I’m so proud of you!!!

23.01.2022 The LNP have announced their plan for health, it will deliver a repeat performance of the Newman Government, the playbook never changes! We don’t want to see a return of a Government that sack doctors, sacks nurses, shuts hospitals (like they did to Wynnum Hospital) and closes mental health beds and mental health facilities - we should never forget the closure of mental health facility, the Barrett Centre - shameful! Our Palaszczuk Government has worked hard to rebuild our frontline - and thank god given Covid. We can’t trust the LNP and we can’t afford to sack frontline health staff in the middle of a global pandemic.

23.01.2022 UPDATE From November 1, up to 40 students at a time can be on the dancefloor at their formal As with the rest of stage 5 & 6, this will be subject to a COVID safe check.... Our 2020 school leavers have had an incredibly rough year and I'm glad they’ll be able to boogie albeit in smaller numbers. See the rest of our Roadmap to Easing Restrictions here: https://bit.ly/2Sib8d5 #schoolleavers2020

22.01.2022 "Industry exposure, real employment - it just cannot be beaten." - Travis Ryan, conservation and land management trainee at Barung Landcare. In the Redlands we have had fantastic Skilling Queenslander for Works projects on both island and mainland in construction, conservation management and hospitality. The next round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work funding will support more than 80 community projects.... This will help connect more than 2,000 jobseekers, like Travis, with the training they need to secure long-term employment. #qldjobs

21.01.2022 What a privilege tonight to speak at the launch of our Championing Redlands Coast, an initiative of our Redlands Coast Regional Jobs Committee. Our Palaszczuk Government established 6 committees across Queensland - one of those here in Redlands! The work undertaken by the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce as leaders of the Regional Jobs Committee is exciting, lots achieved to date and working together we’ve got lots more to do! ... Together we will drive economic prosperity and jobs for our children, grandchildren and future generations in existing and new industries. To find out more visit: https://championingredlandscoast.com.au/

Congratulations to Claudia, Maria, Joshua and Ed from Faith Lutheran College Redlands and Edward, Jacques and Bryson from Sheldon College! 15.01.2022 Cancer touches many. I never imagined going into this election campaign, with another campaign going simultaneously for my fiancé Shayne to kick cancer to the curb! Tonight it was special to be at the leading branch of the Cancer Council Queensland, Redlands branch to support the launch of their new Cookbook! The support the Council provides to those with cancer and their families is amazing. If you’d like to support them you can order a cookbook via their Facebook page Cancer Council Queensland, Redlands Volunteer Branch

13.01.2022 Decided to finally go and check the filter box (it making a bit of a heaving noise) and it’s clear to see why! Winter neglect, toads , smelly stuff and more, I was pretty sure I was going to put my hand in and find a friendly python - thank goodness not!!

12.01.2022 Churches and other places of worship are places where communities gather, and where Queenslanders gather in faith. From 4pm this Tuesday 17 November, restrictions on the number of people who can gather in places of worship will ease to one person per two square metres both indoors and outdoors, so more people can observe their faith together and serve their communities. #covid19

11.01.2022 Newsflash A new Mobile Police Beat is destined for Redlands! The Premier's announced 25 new mobile police beat vans one of which is coming to Redlands! ... This new initiative will mean that local police are more visible, more often, in our local community. Once deployed the new mobile police van will be out and about across the community, ready to swiftly respond to community needs. It means the community will see police more often on active patrols in and around Victoria Point and the Redlands, which is a win for community safety. From their mobile police beat, police will be able to take crime reports, victim statements, conduct field interviews and boost safety with a more visible policing presence. These mobile police vans take police to the community and it does mean that people in local communities will see more police, more often.

08.01.2022 Why wouldn’t you want to live in Queensland? Following the expert health advice including our strong borders has kept us safe. Things would have been very different if Deb Frecklington and the LNP got their way and opened up our borders in July just as Victoria’s 2nd wave was ramping up.

08.01.2022 Mini Muddies Redlands Touch Association is back a great skills development program for our little ones!

08.01.2022 Legacy and providing opportunity for our community is something I’ve worked hard at and will continue to do. Skilling Queenslanders is a program that provides opportunity and jobs! It is a program that was cut by the LNP while Deb Frecklington was the Assistant Treasurer under the Newman Government. Today it is back thanks to our Palaszczuk Government giving of opportunity, skills, mentoring and community assets! ... Today on Lamb Island I met the newest recruits in hospitality and conservation management - the quality of skills being developed in catering and land management through the Community Garden and Recreation Club with these trainees is stellar! So proud to see programs like this benefiting Redlanders and our amazing community! Thanks to Running Wild- Youth Conservation Culture and Night Ninjas Inc. for the work you do in making this program such a success!! #luvredlands

03.01.2022 Fun Fact: QLD has seen a 54% decrease in beverage container litter since our Palaszczuk Government introduced Containers for Change. Not only are we protecting our environment with 2.4 billion containers recycled through refund points, this scheme has also: created more than 700 new jobs, and ... put $300 million back into the pockets of charities, community groups and businesses. Last week was National Recycling Week, so better late than never to pop down today to our Redland Bay Return-It QLD facility with a decent haul of Containers for Change QLD

02.01.2022 Covid-19 Vaccines have landed today in Queensland. The Queensland Government working with the Australian Government has a plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to Queenslanders.
