21.01.2022 ****UPDATE: Questions submitted********** Hi dog friends, I finally get my little head around for 2 questions - concerning the lighting to pressure the council of Moreland to get this installed. Please let me know if you are happy with the below questions or if you would like any amendments. Cut off time will be the 23.05.2019:... 1. When will the lighting be installed at the dog park and the path from Charles str to the park? The park is not usable as it is too dark. This can create safety issues for the dog owners as well as making it harder to supervise the dogs properly. 2. Is there a possibility to install lights based on solar power? Here the link of the last council meeting agenda. if you open the word doc you can read the exactly motion of Sue on page 890. https://www.moreland.vic.gov.au//agenda-next-council-meet/ Ok, have a nice Sunday evening and a great week ahead! Cheers Karoline :)

18.01.2022 Good afternoon dog friends, I know, I still owe you a little report of the last council meeting where I have raised the questions about (a) getting lighting installed and (b) if it can be solar. The response was that they will consult during financial year 2019-20 about a redevelopment of the whole area (Velodrome, sports fields etc); public toilets were also in the discussion. ... There is no budget allocated for lighting nor, it would seem, can any budget be expected before FY 20-21. I was a little bit disappointed but not suprised as Henry one of the dog daddies already called the council before the budget meeting the Monday, which was before the public council meeting. He asked the question as well and he got told that they would not consider to install any lighting this year. OK! My feeling that they just are tring calm us down by talking about this masterplan and will be kind of just ceasing this project, if we dont keep pushing! I am happy to be part of it but I would need the support of the dog community. Some ideas we have been raised is to keep pushing and keep asking questions; also coming as a big group with clever signs (there were a couple of groups doing this on the night). That night it was just me with my partner there... this doesnt really put the pressure on them. Alternately, maybe we could have a Fundraiser and install "Guerilla Lighting" i.e. construct our own solar lighting? Not sure if they can get stolen but... (I.e. https://www.ebay.com.au/i/222302911542?chn=ps) Or we just let go and see if they are going to develop this park? But still might be a good idea to raise other issues dog owners have. Paws regards Karoline

06.01.2022 Good day doggo friends! Moreland Councilor Sue Bolton were emailing and calling me to provide me an updated concerning the light situation at the park! At the last Moreland council meeting on the 08.05.2019 Sue Bolton managed to to get a motion passed for council to investigate lighting the dog park and the path from Charles St to the park. From the officers comments in response to Sues motion, THERE WASNT ANY INTENTION TO THE LIGHT OF THE PARK!! Sue Boltons motion was imp...ortant to indicate the support of the council. The motioned passed unanimously. - which is good but we need to keep pushing on it! Next step: We have until 23.05.2019 to write a submission to the council why it is important to have lights at the path and at the dog park. Which I will draft and publishing here before sending it off - so everybody can add opinions. Second step: the next council is on the 12.06.2019 - 7 pm - Sue strongly recommended to come as a group and ask the councilors in question time when it will take action to have the lights installed. Happy to hear from you and other ideas and suggestion. Ciao ciao Karoline
