18.01.2022 The Brigade would like to extend our thanks to the Gisborne and District Community Bank Branch - Bendigo Bank for the grant to replace our hose washer. Our current hose washer is very old and no longer up to the task, as well as wasting a lot of precious water. Canvas hoses are washed after every use to remove dirt, soot and chemicals thus to prolong their life, and to reduce firefighters exposure to these contaminants.

16.01.2022 We will remember them.

05.01.2022 Grassfires can start anywhere and spread quickly. If a grassfire starts, walk at least two streets back from the fire. If you live two or three streets away from grassland and a grassfire starts, stay where you are. Never drive if you can see smoke or fire. Thick smoke will make it hard to see and traffic jams and accidents are likely.... Keep roads clear for emergency services. http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au//grassfires-near-cities-and-town

03.01.2022 Victoria is one of the most fire prone areas in the world. If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest or long grass, then you need to plan ahead for the fire season. A written and preferably well-practised plan will help you remember what needs to be done during a crisis.

02.01.2022 Vale Roger Barrows It is with great sadness that we advise that our esteemed former member Roger Barrows passed peacefully on Sunday and was today laid to rest at the Riddells Creek cemetery with Fire Brigade honours. Roger joined the Brigade on 14 February 2005. He remained an active firefighter throughout most of his service, he also served for a short period within the non operational ranks. He remained a member until 9 July 2019 which was just short of 15 Years.... Roger was a very active firefighter and responded to numerous calls. With Roger being retired, he always made himself available to respond to calls. Following the devastating fires in 2009 Roger was awarded The National Emergency Medal. He was also the recipient of the Country Fire Authorities 10 year long service medal, which was presented to him in June 2015. Roger was an extremely well like and respected member of our brigade and we have expressed our deepest condolences to both his family and his friends. May he rest in peace. See more
