16.01.2022 Podiatry fact of the day! The 52 bones in your feet make up one quarter of all the bones in your body. When they are out of alignment, so is the rest of your body.

16.01.2022 Following on from our post a few weeks ago about painful corns, another typical presentation we see in our clinics often are interdigital corns. . . . .... . Interdigital corns commonly form between the lesser toes due to constant rubbing and friction. . . . In the video our podiatrist Matthew runs through a simple solution to treating interdigital corns with the use of a silicone to create a wedge to separate the toes and stop them rubbing together and prevent the corn from forming . . . If you have noticed a painful corn developing, you can make an appointment to see one of our podiatrists on 1300 880 942 See more

14.01.2022 At Rightfoot Podiatry, we often see patients who have diabetes. . . . It is important for people who have diabetes to look after their feet in order to avoid diabetic foot complications, such as foot ulcers. In the provided images you can see the use of felt padding around the ulcer to deflect pressure away from this area in order to help it heal. This is a common treatment used for patients with ulcers on their feet. We can also offer custom orthotics and footwear to offload... foot ulcers. . . . If you are a diabetic, a foot check in our clinic involves: Assessing the foot shape/structure. Testing reflexing and sensation of nerves in your feet. Assessing blood flow to the feet (using a Doppler). Dermatological assessment- skin integrity, callous, involuted or thickened nails). . . Once the assessment is performed, the podiatrist can give a recommendation on how often you should have your feet checked and the importance of regular routine appointments in order to avoid diabetic foot complications. . . . If you would like to make and appointment or find out more information on what podiatrists can do for people with diabetes, give us a call on 1300 880 942 . . . . #diabetes #foothealth #footulcer #podiatry #podiatrylife See more

10.01.2022 Choosing the right shoe to suit your feet can be difficult. . . Certain foot types require shoes to accomodate their foot shape to offer the right support. .... . . Swipe to see a video displaying how different footwear can affect the way your foot functions. This particular patient has a high arched foot and has experienced lateral ankle sprains on numerous occasions. In the images of footwear, you can see how structurally unstable and flexible the black shoes are which are increasing the risk of this patient injuring his ankles. . . . Stay tuned for more information about different foot types and how to pick the right shoe for you! All of our clinics have a wide range of footwear and an experienced podiatrist is available to help fit the right footwear to suit you. See more

09.01.2022 If you suffer with bunions this taping technique is a great way to straighten them out and reduce your pain. Start with a strip of strapping tape that is split into two on one end. Then wrap the two split pieces around the toe. Pull on the opposite end of the tape to straighten the toe and stick down. You can add two or three layers, see what works for your foot!

08.01.2022 It’s NAIDOC week! Our clinics sit on Bundjalung and Gumbainggir country. This week is a very important time for all of Australia, with the theme of ‘Always was, always will be’. Everyone is invited to celebrate and recognise the history of Australia. Recognising that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are committed to doing our part to recognise the traditional owners of the land we live on, and do all we can to close the health gap faced by our Indigenous peoples.
