25.01.2022 What does it take to make Michelob ULTRA's most sustainable low-carbon aluminium can? Thanks to our partnership with Anheuser-Busch and Novelis - a dash of aluminium made with zero-carbon smelting technology, a pinch of recycled metal, a bunch of awesome people and voila! So next time you enjoy a cold one, why not make it responsible too?

24.01.2022 Our company was founded this week in 1873. And for each of those 147 years, we have been in it together. #COVID19 #coronavirus

24.01.2022 As #PrideMonth wraps in the United States, we wanted to take a moment to thank our LGBTI+ employees, and all our employees, around the world. From Australia to Canada to the United States to the UK: know that we support you wherever you are and whatever you do every shift, every day to make our business stronger.

23.01.2022 Last month, we teamed up with the United Food Bank, Mesa Chamber of Commerce, Ball Corporation, Cand Aid, and Oskar Blues Brewery in Phoenix, Arizona to donate over 18,000 cans of clean drinking water. Its one way were helping our host communities cope during the #COVID19 pandemic because were all in this together. https://www.riotinto.com//covi/we-are-all-in-this-together

23.01.2022 Sometimes, all it takes is an idea and wanting to help people. Plus a motorbike workshop. And some formidable engineering skills. Thats how Mick Caratti, Chairman of Lycopodium our engineering partner based in Perth, Western Australia and his team built a ventilator in just two weeks. The real beauty of Lycopodiums design? The quick turnaround and low cost means they can get this life-saving device to those who need it most, fast. https://bit.ly/36uNX5C

23.01.2022 Across the world, in all the places we call home, were working to have a lasting, positive impact. One of the ways we do this is through our economic contribution - $45.1 billion globally last year. This contribution has never been more important than it is now. As we look to the future, whatever that future looks like, we will do our part. Because well always be in this together. https://bit.ly/36pTYkb

22.01.2022 Today, we honour the brave Canadians in uniform, past and present, whose service and sacrifice have helped protect the values Canada holds dear. #RemembranceDay

21.01.2022 On a typical day here at Rio, we have teams tracking grizzlies in British Columbia, uncovering diamonds 200 km from the Arctic Circle, near Yellowknife, and helping make beer cans more sustainable (with our low-carbon aluminium!) in Quebec. Maybe that’s why we were once again named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2021. A huge thanks to our 10,000 employees across Canada the pioneers who come to work every shift, every day and produce materials essential for human progress. https://bit.ly/3lu1VeX

21.01.2022 Our Argyle diamond mine, in the Kimberly region of Western Australia has closed, but its legacy lives on. Not only in the jewellery prized the world over, but on the land, and with our employees. We think of it as a new kind of happily ever after. Read more about Argyle’s past, and its future: https://www.riotinto.com//argyle-a-new-kind-of-happily-eve

20.01.2022 Diamonds aren’t forever a new podcast from Good Weekend Talks, all about the myth and magic of our beautiful Argyle diamonds. Give it a listen! http://ow.ly/Ujxz50Cjrnq

20.01.2022 Across the business, were doing everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19 like protecting remote communities who may be at greater risk not only because they lack healthcare infrastructure, but also because its tough accessing basic supplies. We recently donated 6,000 litres of locally made hand soap to remote Indigenous communities across Australia with special thanks to Matic Transport for delivering these critical supplies. And to help keep kids and teachers safe when schools reopen, weve donated more than 600 litres of soap and cleaning products to nine schools and child care centres throughout the Pilbara, Western Australia. 19.01.2022 From copper and titanium dioxide to glycerine and isopropyl alcohol at our Kennecott (Utah, US) and Sorel-Tracy (Quebec, Canada) sites, were taking steps to start making hand sanitiser. We plan to have this available for our employees and contractors on site, which we hope makes more available for the communities around these operations. Because were all in this together. #COVID19 #coronavirus

19.01.2022 Ive always been interested in wildlife and the outdoors. I grew up on a large nature reserve in Far North Queensland where I was always barefoot, outside and in my element. I think I always wanted to get into wildlife research and management: once mum found me down at the back of the garden throwing all my soft animal toys over the fence. When she asked what I was doing, I said Im releasing them back into the wild! Ive worked for a few different organisations, but the... thing that drew me to Rio Tinto was the fact that were the ones who get to create the programmes. Were the lucky ones who get to think up the ways to research the wildlife in the area and meet the values of our Traditional Owners without compromising our sites profitability. And thats always been something I find really interesting. Being able to manage our land, rehabilitate it properly and see good results, not only from a conservation point of view, but also from a community point of view thats just massive. Harry (hes the one on the left) is part of the Threatened Species team at our Weipa operations in Queensland, Australia, and one of many people working to take care of the plants and wildlife we share a home with. We think thats massive too #IDB2020 #biodiversity

19.01.2022 For Dr. Naomi Abdallah, being winched from a helicopter is a regular day in the office. Shes part of CareFlight Northern Operations all-female doctor team, providing emergency aeromedical care to communities throughout Australias Northern Territory including the Gove Peninsula, where our bauxite operations are based. Were investing A$500,000 in CareFlight Northern Operations so that Dr. Abdallah and her team can continue to help those who need it most part of our A$1.1 million commitment to support the communities in East Arnhem, in the north eastern part of the Northern Territory during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. https://bit.ly/368tIL2

19.01.2022 While hand sanitiser and other protective equipment is in high demand, one thing that isnt in short supply is ingenuity. Six of our sites in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States are now making their own weve already produced around 7,000 litres. This means we have enough to use ourselves, freeing up other supplies for communities to access. Just one way were doing our part, because were all in this together: https://www.riotinto.com//s/the-gel-that-keeps-us-together

18.01.2022 I was talking to the kids about what was going on and that for some people this is an especially hard time. I asked them, what could we give them to help them make it through? And the kids said lets give them our Wi-Fi password! [Editors note: there are days we think Wi-Fi is more important than food, too.] But then we spoke more, and they came up with the idea of putting care packages together. People in the office had donated toiletries they collect while travelling, ...so we used those, and of course we included toilet paper too. Ava wrote a card for each of them and decorated the bags too, and then we dropped them off in our neighbours letterboxes. One of the older ladies on our street lives by herself so she was feeling especially isolated but when she saw the care package she was so overwhelmed. She stopped by to thank the kids (she kept a safe distance of course) and it was a really lovely moment to show the kids the impact even small acts of kindness can have on the people around us. Lacey works at our office in Brisbane, and Ava is her special helper. They both agree: we are all in this together. #COVID19 #coronavirus

18.01.2022 We love copper. Its tough but malleable, 100% recyclable, corrosion-resistant and its antimicrobial properties can even help keep us safe. What makes our copper blush? Our Kennecott operation in Utah, in the United States, is the first copper mine in the world to be awarded the #CopperMark, the industrys new responsible production assurance program. This means our operations have been independently assessed and meet the highest environmental and social standards for copper. And a huge congratulations to our team at Kennecott, whose hard work helped make it all happen. Its all enough to make anyone blush. https://bit.ly/31tB8rA

17.01.2022 The Argyle Sakura is one of six hero diamonds in the penultimate Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender. It’s the largest Fancy Vivid pear shaped diamond offered in 37-year history of the tender. Our Argyle diamond mine in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia produces virtually the entire world’s supply of rare pink diamonds - earlier this month we left the underground portal at Argyle for the last time, as our mine transitions to closure.

17.01.2022 The safety and wellbeing of the people we work with, and the people in our communities, is our number one priority and this extends to the home. On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and every day we’re taking a stand against domestic violence. Find out more about how we're playing our part in supporting families experiencing violence --> https://www.riotinto.com//lets-talk-about-domestic-violence #OurActionsMatter #OrangeTheWorld

16.01.2022 Meet Gheorg, a friendly little robot that helps kids manage anxiety. Hes the brainchild of Dr. Louise Metcalfe, one of the Australian entrepreneurs were supporting by way of the Future Minds Accelerator, launched with BlueChilli and Amazon Web Services. We have committed A$10 million of Rio Tinto funding to Future Minds, a four-year programme backing education programmes that help young people learn new skills. Learn more about the 14 Future Minds start-ups here: https://www.riotinto.com/news/stories/future-minds #WorldYouthSkillsDay

16.01.2022 NAIDOC week is a time to celebrate the rich history and culture of the original custodians of the land, for whom Australia has always been home. Always Was, Always Will Be. At Rio Tinto, it is also a time of sober reflection. The destruction of the rock shelters at Juukan Gorge was wrong. It must never happen again. We will listen, learn and change and rebuild trust with Traditional Owners, Indigenous Australians and all Australians. We have a long road and a lot of work ahead of us, but we are committed to doing everything we can to get there.

16.01.2022 Students at Globe High School in Globe, Arizona, wanted to make sure local hospitals had the safety equipment they needed to respond to the #COVID19 pandemic. So they teamed up with FIRST, a global robotics community, to come up with a way to 3D print face shields for doctors and nurses. The shield frames can be sanitised and reused, and the plastic face cover can be replaced as needed. Genius! The team hopes to produce around 100 face shields a week. As partners of the Globe High School Robotics programme, we couldnt be happier to see them pioneer progress.

Ho Ho Ho ! https://bit.ly/3gV79yK

15.01.2022 Pleased to share our Q4 2020 production results: https://bit.ly/35UYhVo We have delivered a strong safety and operational performance in the face of the significant global challenges of COVID-19. Our 2020 performance reflects the resilience of the business, and the commitment and flexibility of our employees, customers, communities and host governments. Jakob Stausholm, chief executive. We are working to restore trust with the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) people.... Some important progress has been made as set out in the joint statement issued in December following a meeting between the PKKP and Rio Tinto boards We are focused on making sure that we build a more inclusive and diverse work culture, which will require sustained effort over many years. We continue to manage the risk of COVID-19 as countries tighten restrictions and work to fight against a resurgence of the virus. Our absolute priority is to maintain significant levels of support and care for our employees, contractors, and host communities, particularly with the re-emerging risk for our operations and projects in Canada, the United States, South Africa and Mongolia.

14.01.2022 In a way, its always World Day for Safety and Health at Work here at Rio. Every shift, every day nothing is more important. Because weve always been in this together #worldWHSday2020

14.01.2022 What do you see when you look at a pile of scrap metal? Waste? Not Diane. With a bit (ok, a lot) of hard work and a great team behind her, Diane a retired equipment operator from our Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories, Canada turned a few kilometres of electrical cable into 30 tonnes of copper, which she then turned into a C$94,000 donation for the Yellowknife Women's Society. We were happy to provide the decommissioned cables from our Diavik Diamond Mine to Diane, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. Thrilled to see our pioneering spirit alive and well!

14.01.2022 To all of our mums (and those we love like mothers) across the world thank you. We will always be proud to stand in your shadow. Happy Mothers Day.

14.01.2022 Shelters and local organisations protect and empower those experiencing domestic and family abuse. And today, on the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, we want to thank them. We’re donating C$360,000 to 12 local partner organisations in Canada to help them keep up the incredible work they do, day in and day out. #16Days #OrangeTheWorld

14.01.2022 tous nos employs aux quatre coins de la Belle Province et tous les Qubcois, nous souhaitons une bonne Fte nationale du Qubec!

13.01.2022 Scandium oxide can power hospitals, data centres and factories, and is even used in aeroplanes. We just figured out how to extract it from the by-products produced by our titanium operation in Sorel-Tracy, Canada heres how: https://bit.ly/2YRxu8Z

13.01.2022 In collaboration with the Paraburdoo Drive In and Tom Price Drive In, you are invited to an evening of entertainment and refreshments over four nights, as we celebrate the communities where we live and work. The safety of our employees and host communities is our number one priority, which is why we have taken the precaution of pivoting from the traditional, large-scale Picnic Day events to an alternate format, where we can better ensure the effectiveness of Covid-19 health a...nd hygiene measures. This decision was not made lightly and has been guided by the WA Government decision to postpone Phase 5 de-escalation, the cancellation of other large events such as the Perth Royal Show, and the feedback we received through the community survey. Another change weve made this year is our increased commitment to working with local businesses and community groups and continuing to invest back into the communities that support us. We are proud to partner with Chillin at Katies, Crave Juice Bar, LE Photography, Nameless Jarndunmunha Festival, Nintirri Centre, Paraburdoo Amateur Swimming Club, Paraburdoo Motorcycle Club, Paraphanelia Band, Pilbara Food Services, Pilbara kitchen, Roadies Burgers, Smokey Ds, Tom Price Emergency Services Cadet Corp, The Pickled Bean and Wrapped Creations. 12.01.2022 I’ve always been interested in geology. It all started when I was little and spent some time in Bahrain, where my father was working. I was so fascinated with the oil pipelines as any little girl would be, right? But when it came time to choose what to do after school, despite my deep love of all things rocks, the career counsellor said I might take a different path. He told me to go into computer science and study at the local college. But, me being me, I applied to study... geology overseas in the UK instead. I had to find my own way into the mining industry, because we didn’t have any encouragement early on. Thankfully, times are changing. Maybe not as fast as they should, or as fast as we would want, but they are changing. And I’m part of that change. I encourage women to mentor women. And I have an eagle eye for spotting female talent. I focus on sponsoring and supporting women to go for roles they might not think they’re ready for yet, or aren’t seen as traditionally for women I make sure they know it’s possible, and they shouldn’t count themselves out before they’re even in the running. Because someone tried to do that to me once, and I think after 23 years in the mining industry, I’ve certainly proved him wrong. Sinead Kaufman is the managing director of our copper and diamonds operations. This week, she was included in Women In Mining - UK's list of 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining. Outstanding work Sinead! https://www.womeninmining.org.uk/wim100/

12.01.2022 Forty years ago, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, four diamonds in a dry creek bed ultimately led our geologists to a massive diamond deposit. Our Argyle diamond mine would go on to reshape the global diamond market with gems coveted because they are as responsible as they are beautiful. And it all started with a glimmer and a vision. This week, we leave the underground portal at Argyle for the last time, as our mine transitions to closure. We are proud of the role our diamonds played in so many lives and celebrations, and thank the generations of employees who made it all possible. We are equally proud of the role Argyle has played in the Australian story. Here’s to our next chapter.

12.01.2022 It’s that time of year again our seed collection program is back up and running in Weipa, Far North Queensland, Australia, home to three of our bauxite mines making up Weipa Operations. Every year, we collect around 60 different species of plants and grasses that get planted into the soil to rehabilitate the mined area in Weipa. For us, rehabilitation is an important part of what we do. https://www.riotinto.com/news/stories/planting-the-future

12.01.2022 If we had stayed in Brisbane it would have meant Id be away from my family for longer. So we made the decision to move 4,500 kilometres from one side of Australia to the other on April 1. When I told my youngest daughter she thought it was an April Fools Day joke. But we did this because I didnt want to leave my family for so long. So taking them with me, moving closer to site I thought that was a great idea. So now Im on a two weeks on/two weeks off roster. Ive bee...n kept well informed by Rio. I think the safety measures in place are good spacing on planes, only two people allowed in a light vehicle, and wet messes are now only allowing a certain number of people in at a time. Social distancing is very important up there we take it seriously, and thats important. It was my choice to go to Busselton. For the past 8 years or so my only dealings with Western Australia were the mine site and Perth airport. We liked Busselton because its a quiet little town, making it much easier for all of us to get around. Were living in a great spot down on the marina. The family member of a colleague owns the property. So we thought we could help him out by renting the place. Our family has been in isolation since we got here. Weve been lucky to be able to do some fishing off the deck and have been catching a bit of bream thats keeping our girls entertained. Im actually spending some really good quality time with my family on this new roster, which is great. Ray is a drill supervisor at our Hope Downs 1 iron ore mine in the Pilbara, Western Australia. For the better part of a decade, he has been part of our national fly-in-fly-out workforce, travelling from the east coast of Australia to the Pilbara. But with travel restrictions in place, Ray and his family moved to WA so they can spend as much time together as possible. https://bit.ly/2zPHbeJ

11.01.2022 We had a meeting about keeping high touch areas cleaner, and later that day it just came to me: there are about 20 doors around here that we need to keep closed to stop the dust from moving through but closing all those doors means a lot of contact. I thought: I bet I can find a way to open them without touching the handles. So I came up with the idea for this step a bracket with an upturned lip for traction, and red and silver tape so you cant miss it. And now we can ...open doors with our feet! I guess were calling it the Spencer Step, which is nice. Ill be honest, I usually come up with the idea for something, make it first and think about the planning later! Im working with Chrisden [an electrical maintainer in Weipa] and we are coming up with a plan so we can share it with our colleagues all over the world, so they can make their own. Here at Weipa, and I know other places around the world too, if we were to get sick and not be able to work it would have a big impact on our community. And you know, anything I can do to stop that I feel good about. Because it helps and it means I am doing my part. James is a second year apprentice electrician at our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland in Australia. Hes also a bit of an inventor too. Now thats what we call pioneering progress.

11.01.2022 After all the hard work and dedication and sacrifice, sometimes the only thing you can say is thank you. So from all of us to all of you thank you. Proud to be in this together.

11.01.2022 So pleased to be able to partner with people on the frontlines of the fight against Covid-19. Thank YOU, St John Ambulance Australia NTs Nhulunbuy Ambulance Station!

10.01.2022 Fantastic to have welcomed the Honourable Mlanie Joly to our Arvida Research and Development Centre in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, QC, yesterday. The Canadian government announced a C$5m investment, supporting improved traceability for Canadian aluminium. Thanks for the visit, Minister, and for the support! #madeinCanada #sustainability (Photos: Hon. Mlanie Joly)

10.01.2022 This year, our Pilbara Mining Operations team took the top spot at the annual Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC), held in Perth, Western Australia. Our Supply Chain Services team took third overall. Both teams also took out top 3 places in other events including Firefighting, Road Crash Rescue and Confined Space. The teams were tested on their emergency response skills in challenging, life-like training scenarios. Now in its tenth year, MERC continues to be an excellent development opportunity for our emergency response teams. Well done to those who competed and thank you for keeping us safe, year after year.

10.01.2022 Health, safety and wellbeing are always our top priority. And in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, in Canada, home to part of our aluminium business, weve donated approximately C$100,000 of personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hospitals, medical clinics, and health services to help doctors, nurses and staff fight #COVID19. The 25,000 items we donated include N95 masks, goggles and hand sanitiser. A heartfelt thanks to all the frontline medical staff out there were with you, and were all in this together.

10.01.2022 Safety, health and wellbeing have never been more important. So were following government guidance as well as advice from medical experts. Here are some of the things were doing: Fewer FIFO people at sites Temperature and rapid screening tests at airports Updated bus, light vehicle and flight seating arrangements to allow social distancing Increased frequency of cleaning at high-touch areas... On-call service for employees to return home for health or family emergencies Employee assistance programme to support our employees mental health Temporary medical clinics in place Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2WRlpQZ #COVID19 #coronavirus

10.01.2022 As #Pride month wraps, we continue to celebrate the freedom to be ourselves, and the idea that whoever you are, and wherever you live, you deserve to feel comfortable bringing your whole self to everything you do. #PrideMonth

#16Jours #OrangezLeMonde

08.01.2022 All we want for Christmas is zero-carbon aluminium, of course. Lucky for us, ELYSIS has officially wrapped up construction of its Industrial Research and Development Center in Quebec, Canada. The centre will work to scale up the breakthrough technology that eliminates all direct carbon emissions from the aluminium smelting process. Ho Ho Ho! https://bit.ly/3h5LunL

07.01.2022 COVID-19 has really called on my knowledge and experience. Everything Ive learned has come into practice during this pandemic. Ive been at Rio for almost a decade before that I worked close to ten years for other mining companies in Peru, where I was born. Infectious diseases are a very important topic there. I was very lucky to attend a university with an internationally recognised centre for the study of infectious diseases. My professors there were remarkable microbio...logists, infectious disease specialists and epidemiologists. I used to think that one day I would be a university lecturer! But my career took a different direction and I am so glad it did. Today, Im working with our business to make sure we are doing absolutely everything we can to keep our people and communities safe every shift, every day. Wherever they are and whatever they do. Mental health is also really important because its an anxious time, not only for our employees but for their families. Its a huge responsibility, and an important one but honestly, to me nothing is more important. And Im so glad I can help. Dr. Oswaldo Ortiz (pictured with his children) is one of our global team of medical professionals helping us respond to #COVID19

07.01.2022 At our Diavik Diamond Mine, were partnering with the Yellowknife Womens Society to support its COVID-19 isolation shelter with a C$150,000 contribution. Our support lets the shelter provide housing and food for vulnerable men and women who would be at special risk if they contract COVID-19. Proud to support the communities where we live and work, all over the world because we are all in this together. https://www.riotinto.com//Rio-Tinto-supports-COVID-19-isol

06.01.2022 This #VeteransDay, we thank the all the men and women serving in America’s Armed Forces, and remember that our freedom is built upon their sacrifice. To all who serve, who have served, and who plan to serve thank you.

06.01.2022 At our Rio Tinto Gove Operations, in the Northern Territory of Australia, we welcomed our Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) teams with care packages. Its a tough time to be away from family and friends, and sometimes even small things can help. #COVID19 #coronavirus

06.01.2022 Today, on International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we celebrate many things: our employees, our partners, our families, our friends. The freedom to be ourselves. And the idea that whoever you are and wherever you live, you deserve to be safe, and feel safe. Every shift, every day. Heres some more of what #IDAHOBIT means to us, from different corners of our business: https://bit.ly/2WCv8u5

04.01.2022 She’s known locally as "Iceland's first lady of aluminium", but we just call her Rannveig. Last year was a big one for Rannveig not only did she celebrate her 30-year anniversary at ISAL (our aluminium smelter in Iceland) where she’s spent 24 of those 30 years as General Manager, but she also won the 2020 S&P Global Platts Global Metals Lifetime Achievement Award. In Rannveig’s own words: "It was a great pleasure and honour to receive the award. It’s fascinating to work in this industry to produce a metal that is green, recyclable and has an increasing use for the benefit of all of us in this world. But really, what’s kept me in the industry for so long? It’s the people.

04.01.2022 Famille. Familia. The Fam. Whanau. . . . . . There are countless ways to say family, and even more ways to define it. But one thing is always true our families are there for us, even when theyre farther than wed like. So today, on the International Day of Families, were saying thank you. Because however you say family, were all in this together.

03.01.2022 Hope Haven womens shelter in Labrador West, Canada, realised they needed to find a way to help victims of domestic violence who also needed to self-isolate. So our Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) made a fully furnished housing unit available to them; we are also ensuring Hope Haven staff have the protective equipment they need, so both they and the women they serve are protected from the coronavirus. Because were all in this together. https://www.riotinto.com/news/stories/hope-haven #COVID19 #coronavirus

03.01.2022 Daniel (hes the one in the middle) loves working with people, but he knows that working with machines can help keep his team safe. These days, because we need to keep our distance, Daniel and his team in Western Australia started using technology like drones and cameras in the mine pits to change the way they did things on site, so they can keep working together, staying apart. Find out what else were doing to keep each other safe : https://bit.ly/368bn0B

03.01.2022 On this, the 50th anniversary of #EarthDay, we recognise connection to country - a physical, spiritual and emotional relationship with the land. In Weipa, where weve been mining bauxite for more than 50 years, we work hand in hand with Traditional Owners to ensure we rehabilitate the land, as much as possible, to its original condition. We have more to do, but in Weipa and everywhere else around the world, we want to be part of the solution.

The tireless efforts of frontline workers, those who have gone above and beyond to support their communities and all of the people we’re privileged to work with each and every day. Wherever you are, near or far, a #HappyThanksgiving from our family to yours!

01.01.2022 Weve been changing the way we do things on site to stay safe and keep our operations running safely. In Gove in the Northern Territory, Australia, where we mine bauxite weve started running virtual safety interactions. The coolest part? Our Chief Executive was able to join one recently from the other side of the country because theres nothing better than staying connected, even when we have to be far apart.
