21.01.2022 GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY A global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. Currently 40% of the world’s population do not have access to a basic handwashing facility... The COVID-19 pandemic provides a stark reminder that one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of a virus is also one of the simplest: hand hygiene, especially through handwashing with soap. To beat the virus today and ensure better health outcomes beyond the pandemic, handwashing with soap must be a priority now and in the future. #GlobalHandwashingDay #HandHygieneforAll

19.01.2022 Today we say goodbye to our Nurse, Carolyn - aka Caz. Caz has been with us at Risdon Vale Family Practice since our opening in August last year and has played a massive role getting us up and running as she has been Nurse, Practice Manager, Nurse Manager, fill in Receptionist, and friend to us all. We’d like to thank Caz for all the hard work, time, care, and heart that she has put into our practice and team while here. Her daily smiling face will be missed dearly as sh...e goes onto her next adventure in completing her Masters in Child Play Therapy. Good luck, Caz!!

17.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Things will temporarily look different down here at RVFP. Our ceiling in the waiting room and consult room 1 (Dr Emilie Willcox's room) is being replaced as it is feeling tired and a bit worn out, gravity has sadly taken its toll :) From tomorrow (Wed 22nd July) you will be entering the practice from the back door. Follow the signs and our lovely staff will be there to assist you. If you have any concerns or you need wheelchair or disability access please phone the practice on 6146 3900 and we can assist you. We thank you for your patience :)

14.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Tasmanian women - 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 85. Research shows that breast cancers detected through BreastScreen are lower risk than breast cancers diagnosed in women who have never screened: when breast cancer is found early through breast screening, treatment is easier and more successful.... 08.01.2022 Important coronavirus test information Any Tasmanian who has been referred for a coronavirus test by their GP in the past few days and has yet to receive furthe...r contact should call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange their test. A technical error has affected the GP referral system for Tasmanian Department of Health coronavirus testing clinics, and referrals made between Thursday 20 August and yesterday have not been properly processed, and test bookings may not have been made for some patients within the normal timeframes. Anyone affected by this should continue to isolate and contact the Public Health Hotline. The Department has also notified GPs and requested that they re-process any referrals that may have been affected. GP referrals to Tasmanian Department of Health testing clinics are the only GP referrals that have been affected. All other referrals have been processed as normal. The Department sincerely apologises to any patients who have been affected by this issue, which has now been resolved.

07.01.2022 This is a great reminder for all of us about just how easy corona virus spreads, produced by Unicef. In Tasmania we are very blessed by our current position, however we may also need to consider mask use later down the track.
