18.01.2022 This week is Speech Pathology week! There are currently 1.2 million Australians living with a communication disability. This week helps increase awareness of communication disabilities and the challenges faced each and every day by people in our community. 18.01.2022 Thoughtful Thursday 2020 was such a great reminder to practice gratitude... to take time to stop and smell the roses. So often, we are in autopilot, but routinely stopping to reflect and channel a positive thought or mantra for the day can be incredibly powerful. Each Thursday, I'll be posting one of my favourite quotes to remind us all to take a moment and inspire some positive thinking!

15.01.2022 It's finally 2021 and I am so excited to see what this year brings! Have you planned some goals for the year ahead? If you have, I'd love to hear them! This year, I am most looking forward to:... Continuing to support my beautiful clients to learn, grow and achieve their goals. Spending more quality time with my puppy, Odie, at local dog parks and down at the beach. Connecting more with clients and families through social media platforms, in order to continue promoting Rising Stars and sharing resources and strategies. There are also more exciting plans for Rising Stars so stay tuned throughout the year!

14.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: Following yesterday’s government decision, I will now be moving all therapy sessions to Telehealth until further notice. This proved to be a successful and engaging way to offer sessions throughout initial restrictions earlier in the year. I am currently taking some annual leave, and Zoom sessions will commence as of Tuesday the 24th of November. Clients will be contacted shortly to schedule their Zoom sessions moving forward. Home therapy programs and resou...rces will also be available upon request. If you have any questions or queries about Telehealth sessions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0466 661 953 or via email at [email protected]. In the mean time, stay safe and stay healthy!

06.01.2022 It has been so wonderful to see the achievements of all my clients throughout this crazy year. One of my rising stars recently received a 'Perseverance Award' for Taekwondo. For a young man who began sessions with me to work on his social skills and confidence, he has shown that hard work really pays off. This award is a huge milestone, and reflects his work ethic and determination throughout the year. Way to go Z!!

04.01.2022 Here is one of my little legends using her Proloquo2Go communication device! Miss L started with Rising Stars in March 2020 with only 15 single words and limited social skills. But boy, how things have changed! Miss L is now using Proloquo2Go independently to express her wants, needs and thoughts, as well verbalising close to 100 words and some 2-3 word phrases. She is always singing around the house and loves to interact and play with others. She came leaps and bounds in sessions last year and I can't wait to see her continue to learn and grow in 2021! There is something so special about helping someone find their voice, and that is why I love my job!

02.01.2022 Today I was joined by a very friendly, very hungry dinosaur! He enjoyed eating our picture cards after we practised each /g/ sound. Thanks Z for sharing your new toy with me today!
