25.01.2022 8 Minutes of Rotary - TAG SOMEONE AND SAY NOTHING! Just started on my video of Rotary REunion 2018 as a spectator, if you are a fan of Rotary's and haven't got to an event yet make sure you hit 2019. Shame about the weather on this one (the one I finally get to) but it did not dampen our spirits as we came together to celebrate the little guy of the engine world and that's what we do..we stand tall and LOUD in arrogance of the small yet mighty and drop clutches against any ...foes who doubt our ways While you wait for my video you can play this on repeat if you like, I would recommend playing it in the kids room to help them to sleep, no need for white noise machines when you can experience the buzz of 300+ Hiroshima Dorito Cookers Seriously though, the event is awesome and I am so glad I stuck around in the country to get to it, the scene has grown up a lot over the years and everyone is on a real positive level with everyone sharing a weekend of what we all have in common and love, cheers to the genius's who put this together they really do take it seriously and I am sure its only going to get even better in the future, cheers. 25.01.2022 After the our amazing time in Iceland the time had come for us to leave the beautiful country and fly into Heathrow Airport in London. With the beautiful midnight sun setting behind us we were descending through the grey clouds of England with a birds eye view of the classic apartment buildings below, it was another one of those surreal moments for us. Next morning we were up and out the door and onto the infamous London Metro, unlike the ultra confusing metro of NYC the Lond...on Metro took about 30 minutes for us to get a understanding of and we felt very confidant in the system, there is no wonder it is so famous and it truly works very well from an outsiders perspective. We arrive in Westminster Station and it was craziness, it took us a moment to adjust to all the people as we were still in isolated wilderness mode from the day before. We visited the usual sites and got to catch up with old friends which was awesome but you could tell that Jess and I were looking forward to getting out to the quiet country side and into some smaller towns. A few days of seeing London we were on the road again traveling to Stonehenge, Bath, Manchester, Liverpool and on our way to Scotland! Stonehenge was cool but sadly you are quite a distance from the stones but for good reason because it truly is a mysterious place and has some amazing history. Next stop was the town of Bath, it was so much bigger than I was expecting and it had some really cool buildings and history, If you decide to ever go we highly recommend the free walking tours there as you learn so much about the history and landscape. One thing I learned from there that I won't forget is the reasoning for the saying "that's daylight robbery!"The tour guide we had explained that back in the day there was a window tax put in place so you could only have so many windows and the had to be a certain distance apart. A lot of the buildings had different coloured bricks from where home owners had moved their windows closer together to avoid the window tax, random aye. We visited the famous Roman Baths and learned about all the historic people who visited and some of the strange remedies like drinking the water of the baths that hundreds of people from the 17th century would lay in :| So with the photo I wanted to capture something unmistakably London and not the usual Big Ben or London Bridge. The photo was lacking in my opinion so i did spend some time editing it more so than normal, I was trying to give it a classic yet surreal look. Back on board and more to come, thanks for hanging around! Peace #jessXlochie See more

20.01.2022 While in New York we quickly realised that it is not a very budget friendly place so we decided to take a overnight bus trip to Toronto Canada for a week or so where we explored the city, chilled out in our Airbnb and made our way over to Niagara Falls where we stayed till dark for the light show and fire works, It was pretty cool that we got a chance to get into Canada and get a small taste of friendly place that we hope to visit again one day. Once we returned to New York w...e hit some more of the hot spots which our visit would not be complete without a visit to Central Park a few times, Times Square, Grand Central Station and the Rockefeller Building which we manage to get up before we left. Once up there you can get an epic 360 view of New York and my favorite part with The Empire State Building right in front of you, the One World Trade Center, The Statue of Liberty and the Chrysler Building to your left, so many icons in just one field of view. It was a pretty cool way to say good bye to New York as sadly we had to continue on our Journey but not to sad as one of my favorite places was just a few hours via plane away...More soon! Peace #JessXLochie #Newyork #NYC #Rockefellerbuilding #Empirestatebuilding

20.01.2022 An unseen angle of the amazing waterfall #Seljalandsfoss in #Iceland From memory it was about 11.30pm and I convinced Jess to get wet to witness the amazing view, Pictures do not do words for the beauty and just the size of it over you. #takemeback Peace! #JessXLochie

19.01.2022 While in New York we had to take a good week to recover from our Machu Picchu Inca Trail, first we stayed in the Lower East Side where we slept and ordered room service for a few days eventually wandering out to Time Square, Central Park and a few of the iconic buildings like this one, The Flatiron Building. Pretty unreal to stand at the bottom of this famous building that we actually visited it twice, there were hundreds of people getting their IG photos in front of the building so we crossed the road to try and get something different, think this shot turned out cool More pix soon! Peace #jessXlochie

19.01.2022 With 22 hours of daylight there is plenty of time to road trip around, most of the missions we went on were from early morning to late at night, this shot was taken on our way back from visiting the town of Vik, from memory it was about 9pm and we just missed the sun on the falls, this one is Skogafoss and it is massive you can see it pretty clearly from the main highway and it is very accessible. We didnt stop for long as it was late and the glacier water spray with the howling wind was freeeeezing. I wanted to get this shot with people in it so you could see the massive scale. More to come... Peace #jessXlochie #iceland #skogafoss

19.01.2022 Hello....is anybody out there... What a year (or so). Finishing our travels with a third wheel in tow (the cute Theo Menzies), moving and settling in another city; time has certainly flown by. With not working full time and not travelling a full time phone addiction arises and the decision to remove myself from Facebook as much as possible. ... While I have been FB MIA, I have been second shooting for some local Videographers but nothing for myself as I have been keeping my weekends free to spend with my family but as Summer approaches the time has come to get on the horse again. I thought I would start with some previously unreleased photos and a wedding video that is approaching its 1 year anniversary. So if you are out there please say hello :) Photo is taken in #Amsterdam, roaming the streets of Amsterdam was one of our biggest highlights, so much that we decided to stay longer than planned and if it wasn't for Iceland it would be my number one location we visited. Peace #jessXlochie

17.01.2022 Mirror Finish. All good things must come to an end, but before we leave we made the epic drive to Höfn so we could stay the night and see the Jökulsárlón Iceberg Lagoon. We werent to early to leave even though we had a 5 hour drive ahead of us, not including all the stops along the way. This was our second stint through the town of Vik and it was as beautiful as the first time but things got really epic from there on after.... Most tourists would go no further as at this point things get a lot more vast and further from civilisation but the drive was the most beautiful I have ever taken, the majority of the time you are driving through vast flatlands and long bridges over glacier rivers as they carve their way through the black sand and long tussock grasses to the ocean. We arrived at the Lagoon at about 9.30pm and it was rather overcast and very very cold, we quickly stopped to have our first look at the floating Icebergs, Jess and I couldn't really believe it. We had to be at our accommodation by 10.30pm so we jumped in the car and raced to check in, by the way we had not eaten and when we arrived the kitchen had closed and all they could offer us was some soup, it turned out to be the best chicken soup I have ever eaten. After drinking down the soup and tossing the bags in the room we raced back as we knew the sun would soon set, at this stage it was about 11.30pm but never the less got this awesome shot, alot of driving for a few hours with some Icebergs but completely worth it. The next morning we went back to the Lagoon and went to the outlet where the Icebergs meet the ocean, crashing against the waves and washing up against the black sand beaches it was a really cool experience and an awesome way to end our journey. Before we left we went to the famous Blue Lagoon and soaked in the hot thermal water and relaxed after a pretty hectic few days of driving but again, I could not recommend this place more! I would love to keep sharing Iceland pictures for days but the journey must go on and I have plenty more Iceland photos to share down the line but for now it's goodbye to the most amazing place I have ever seen. Peace #jessXlochie #Iceland #Hofn #JokularlonLagoon

16.01.2022 #Iceland Flying into Iceland we didn't know what to expect really, we did know we were in for 22 hour daylight and cold temperatures but nothing could prepare us for the next few days.... Visually Once landed near Reykjavik the airport process was a breeze, we jumped on a bus and were dropped off in a somewhat industrial area in Reykjavik. After some head scratching we got access to our hostel and we settled in for the night. Next morning we had breakfast at a hipster cafe do...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Wrecked. Towards the end of our time in Iceland we decided to head further east to to see the Iceberg Lagoon, quite a drive but thankfully we had the long days on our side, along the way we decided to go see this plane that crashed in the 1970s on Sólheimasandur Beach. The DC-3 had to make an emergency landing on the soft sand and stone but lucky for them everyone was ok. Its a pretty isolated place so Im sure back then it would of been quite the wait and being it was No...vember, not very warm. Turns out the pilot did not switch to the right fuel tank and thought the worst I guess. It is a very long walk from the car park to the site by being out there was an amazing experience with massive mountains in the distance, a huge volcano and glacier in one direction and the ocean just over the black sand hill. Like my Budir Profile photo I captured this shot in the plans to have an ultra wide print to give you the sense of isolation and epicness, this too will be available soon in a limited edition wide print, details coming very soon, again I have shared in a more mobile friendly format, trust me when seeing this in its full resolution and not on a phone its beautiful The adventure continues and gets even more out of this world very soon... Peace #jessXlochie

13.01.2022 Castle Menzies, Aberfeldy ...WOW! Pretty crazy place and a strange thought of possibly returning on a 200 year circle. The place was pretty cool and well kept after with lots of history and interesting facts that would probably only interest the Menzies family but it was well worth a trip and was actually the best condition of any of the castles we seen while in Scotland but we didn't really go searching for them. We ended up revisiting the Castle a couple of times as I reall...y enjoyed looking into the family history and it was pretty crazy seeing all the large portrait paintings of people with the same nose as me, I swear! While there we noticed a large smooth round boulder and I asked the staff what it was for and they explained if a passing traveler was waiting to join the clan they had to be able to lift the stone and throw it in order to be worthy of the clan...Well I had to give this a try so I bent over and with all my strength I couldn't even move it let alone lift it, its just crazy to think of the size and strength of the old scot's. Another moody cinema feel photo, which I think fits well with the historic building. Peace #jessXlochie

12.01.2022 One of the most memorable moments of our time in NYC was hiring bikes and riding from 97th Street down the west side water front to the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges, a few stops along the way then riding up part of the east side and back through Manhattan, overall we rode about 35kms The memorable part was biking through rush hour traffic near Times Square while the sun was going down, the street lights were coming on and the streets were crazy with people on their way... home. I had a moment of bliss biking behind Jess with the sunset shinning behind us we weaved through traffic like we were locals thinking this is crazy, were in New York! Another morning we were up early and went for a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge where you can see the crazy skyline that fills the island of Manhattan, when we reached the other side I had to go find the little street in Dumbo Brooklyn that perfectly lined up with the Williamsburg Bridge, if you look carefully through the legs of the bridge they frame the epic Empire State Building that is miles away in the distance. This photo is a true representation of New Yorks gritty, brick and steel landscape that although very unnatural has a soul of its own that you cant not love. Peace #jessXlochie

12.01.2022 Last weekend I had the privilege to shoot a wedding film in the Coromandel for a great friend of mine, many things in my life including meeting my wife Jessica Menzies are thanks to this amazing person. Had to put the photographer hat on late in the evening and snapped a few of the first dance for her. Congrats Lisa Lamb and Jeff Lamb, now on to the film editing. Next week we return to the regular scheduled travel journey, stay tuned. Peace #JessXLochie #weddingphotographerNZ #videographerNZ

10.01.2022 Inca Trail - Day Four #MachuPicchu The morning had arrived, on our trip there has been a few surreal moments and this morning was to be one of them. We started our walk well before sun rise and were on the approach of the famous Sun Gate, its almost like the Inca's wanted you to pass one last test as the stairs leading to the Sun Gate although not very long they were incredibly steep with most people crawling up the stone staircase on all fours, Our guide James Palma called t...he stairs The Gringo Killer. One thing many people fear with the Inca Trail Hike is that the weather can change by the minute and visibility of the awesome views are not guaranteed, well when we reached the top of the Sun Gate and looked down into the valley were Machu Picchu stands we could see nothing but cloud, everyone was pretty down that we had come all that way and could not see the prize but all the groups stopped and had a snack as we had pretty much completed the hike with only an hour or so to go. While we ate, slowly bit by bit the clouds started to part and the crowd cheered as Machu Picchu revealed itself, that moment I will forever remember and probably more so than any other on the trek. We were finally here. Peace #jessXlochie #Incatrail to #MachuPicchu #Gadventures #Peru #Southamerica

10.01.2022 From one jungle to another we had landed in the craziness that is New York City, everything I previously thought about NYC was to be confirmed within a few days, big, grimy, noisy and packed full of people and we loved it! @jess_menzies and I arent huge fans of citys but this place is like no other, its a world of its own. We walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Dumbo where I snapped this shot of the famous bridge, its just as cool in real life. Peace #jessXlochie #newyork #brooklynbridge

10.01.2022 Busy,Busy 2018 Bring it. Had a few projects on the go lately and sadly the travel pix have come to a halt but they will be back very very soon. Had a surprise wedding in the weekend that we were blessed to be a part of an amazing day so with saying that a short wedding film is just around the corner. I snapped a few pix on the day but thankfully there was a pro onsite taking care of photos as i'm trying to focus on strictly video as the turn around takes more of my time and id like to get a lot more videos out the door as with each one i'm learning so much more and gaining traction to the quality i'm chasing. Thanks Rod Rutherford and Karen Goldsworthy for a great weekend :D

08.01.2022 While in Bath we really enjoyed the city and its history but the time to leave was here and after a very disturbing couple of nights in a 12 person dorm hostel we where very keen to leave it in our rear view mirror. Next stop was Manchester where we went and seen the band Sublime play live for the first time in five years, the show was really good and quite a laugh as the bass player was so blind drunk the backstage crew had to get him a stool so he wouldn't fall over . We ...visited the city and ate curry and chips for the first time and then went to the near by city Liverpool which we preferred and really enjoyed the town. Jess was tested as there is alot of good shopping in Liverpool but we refrained to just window shopping and visited the underground Live venue The Cavern Club, it is really worth while checking out and seeing all the bands that have played in this tiny underground bar over the years, I can imagine the 70's in that place would be mental. Next stop was Glasgow, as soon as we entered Scotland we noticed everyone was in a lot less of a hurry, were super friendly and kind, the first thing that spun me out was how quickly the accents changed and how much harder the scots were to understand . We had a mission to complete while in Scotland and it was to visit my family castle, while travelling up to it we were going through the tiny towns with their low stone walls and tiny stone houses and every tiny town had a tiny town pub, it was probably our favourite thing to do in Scotland travelling throughout the country roads, it reminded us alot of home just with some added history. This photo was taken out the back of a country Backpackers Boreland Loch Tay we stayed in which was an old farm converted to accommodation and a wedding venue, which there just so happened to be a Menzies wedding on that weekend and I met another Lachlan Menzies who was just about to move to New Zealand, was pretty random. The photo again I went surreal movie tone with it, very moody, I call it Scott's Shed, no idea who's it really is though. Peace #jessXlochie See more

04.01.2022 The Little Black Church. We traveled to Snæfellsnes Peninsula a couple times, it wasn't a short drive either, from memory it was about a 3 hour drive one way but the scenery was so worth it and obviously the destinations were awesome, I could happily stay out there and explore...for life. Sadly I did not get to many scenic shots to show the landscape but you will never hear me recommended a place more than Iceland. I simply call this one Budir Profile, I have taken this shot ...to suite a really wide aspect ratio to give you the sense of the isolation and almost gives it a cinema feel. I have shared this in a more mobile friendly scale but a super-wide edition print will be available soon Peace #JessXLochie #Reykjavik #Iceland #Snæfellsnes #Peninsula #Búðir #Budirblackchurch

01.01.2022 The Incredible Seljalandsfoss. For quite some time I have seen photos of this amazing waterfall but no words or photos could ever do justice for the size and beauty of this place. We were on our way home and I knew that the timing would be perfect as the sun was low and it was about 10.30pm, first we walked up to the falls and stood back but I knew the real view was from inside and behind the falls. Walking through the path you are literally blasted by the water and wind gene...rated and chances of being dry on the other side is nil, once inside I could not believe I was standing where I had seen so many others before me and I really took it in, I grabbed a view snaps and said to myself "I really need Jess to see this!" I walked through the spray again and convinced Jess to do it even though she wasn't in any rain proof gear and I even talked some randoms into also, thankfully Jess was grateful also to get soaked by the falls. By the time we got through the sun was even lower and the golden light shinning through the water was amazing. So to get this shot I didn't simply click away, I had my widest lens (16-35mm 2.8) and it still wasn't wide enough to fit this monster 60m waterfall in, It took 23 different photos and angles to compose this shot, a bit of work but absolutely worth it. If in Iceland this has to be visited more than once! Peace #jessXlochie #Iceland #seljalandsfoss See more

01.01.2022 Before we say goodbye to 2017 I just want to thank everyone who has made this year special and probably the most memorable year of my life, from leaving a comfortable steady life to travel the world with my beautiful wife Jessica Menzies and saying no to security and the norm, starting a journey of daily creativity that I aim to push further and harder into 2018, finding out we are having our first child which is pretty mind blowing and life changing and i'm sure will make 20...17 seem pretty tiny in comparison. 2017 like all years was full of highs and lows, with new lives found and sadly some lives lost, I don't feel we should wish away the past and discard it as some people would give anything to have the days and opportunity the majority of us are lucky to have so please don't celebrate the ending of a year but rather cherish the memory's and celebrate that we have tomorrow to look forward to. So here's to challenging the status quo and choosing to live how you want to live and helping others along the way so we can all progress in 2018, Happy New Year and Cheers!

01.01.2022 Midnight Sun. Wow. Kirkjufell, it is probably the first location I had ever seen of Iceland and is probably 90% of my reasoning when deciding wether or not to go. This was our second time to the beautiful spot and we decided to stay up in the Snæfellsnes peninsula in the small town of Grundarfjörður which is less than 5 minutes away. The town is a small seaside village with fishing boats, shops and is backed by a massive mountain range. Even though we where in the middle of ...summer there was still snow on the peaks. We stayed in a small motel and went out at 11pm to get some snaps, the sun was almost set but had plenty of light remaining and did so for another hour or two. I really really hope you get to Iceland in your life time, if I wasnt from the beautiful New Zealand I think I could EASILY call it my favourite place. Peace #jessXlochie #Iceland #kirkjufell
