23.01.2022 Continuing on from our last post regarding cyber crime at tax time, remember to always log into myGov to check your messages. Log into your official myGov account by manually typing in the web address into your browser, do not click on links from emails as they could be a malicious link. The ATO does not include links in their emails so if you get an email from the ATO with a link, delete it immediately.

19.01.2022 ‘Treasury Laws Amendment (Self Managed Superannuation Funds) Bill 2020’ Amends the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 to increase the maximum number of allowable members from four to six in self managed superannuation funds and small APRA funds. 12.01.2022 According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), tax time is a hot time for cyber crime. Add that to the increase of cyber crime we have seen since the COVID-19 pandemic - now is the time to be extra vigilant with your cyber security. Many scammers will trick you into thinking you have a tax debt, quite often by sending an email that looks like the real deal. It’s important to note that the best way to see if you have a legitimate tax debt is to look for yourself using myGov, or speaking with your accountant.
