25.01.2022 Earlier this week, Mayor Peter Hunt visited the Rivergum Christian College at Glossop to speak to the Year 3/4 and 5/6 classes about Local Government and the Be...rri Barmera Council. The students have been learning about the topic of Government and Democracy and covering discussion points like - How local government is chosen? What is the voting process? What are local government services in the Riverland? How the local government impacts/ helps our school? Thank you to the staff and students for welcoming Mayor Hunt to the school, for the fantastic questions and conversations about Local Government and the tour of your wonderful facilities. You never know, there might be a future Local Government Elected Member or Mayor among the group!

12.01.2022 A birds-eye view of our College at the end of winter 2020, including our entry, new bus carpark area, COLA and food tech building construction, playground and agriculture area. One of our talented Year 8 students, Liam Mason, brought his drone to school and captured this impressive footage before editing it all together with music. Simply awesome job, Liam!

11.01.2022 Rivergum Christian College community, Masks are now fully optional for staff and students on school grounds. Off site, where social distancing is not possible masks are strongly recommended.

10.01.2022 Dear Rivergum Families, Per the SA Health recommendations, masks are not compulsory for students under 12 as they can struggle to manage them appropriately. Where possible, we would like students to wear masks and if students are over 12 it will be strongly encouraged (for any exceptions please contact Andrew direct on [email protected]). All staff will be wearing a mask. This will be in effect until Tuesday - awaiting further direction from the Premier.

10.01.2022 Dear Rivergum Families, As you may have heard, the Premier is ending the lockdown early. We will be open from Monday. Buses will be operating and students will need to present at the front office for sanitisation and temperature checking. All bags and surfaces will be wiped down with antibacterial wipes etc. All staff will be wearing masks and we ask that students also wear masks for everyone's safety. If anyone will be away on Monday please let us know by email on [email protected] (and text the Bus Coordinator on 0458 584 128) so we are able to plan for the first few days back. Thanks! Andrew

03.01.2022 On June 29th, the Year 3/4 and 5/6 classes were lucky to have a visit from the Mayor, Peter Hunt, from the Berri Barmera Council. He came dressed in his robe and spoke to the children about the role of the council in our community. He explained the many services that the council support in the community and our school, such as waste management, road repairs and providing local sporting facilities. The children had an opportunity to ask questions. They were impressed with how ...happy, friendly and informative the mayor was. Our SRC Reps in Year 3/4, Noah and Jemilla presented the mayor with chocolates and a thank you card. These students also took the mayor on a tour of the school, especially showing him our new facilities. Mayor Peter Hunt helped to make our current Civics and Citizenship unit on local government come alive. The Year 3/4 class today also found out that they were successful in winning the Foundation to Year 4 Recycling Challenge entry with their creative Art pieces that are currently displayed at the rotunda building opposite Woolworths in Berri. The students will pass on the prize money provided by the council to the SRC. Ms Sue Prideaux
