25.01.2022 Farm mascot/motivational speaker, Bogart, approves of our rye grass planting.
25.01.2022 Great start to the Brisbane winter carnival for River Junction. On the 10th we had 4 runners in group events with outstanding results. A cushy run by our 2yo Looks like The Cat resulted in a 2nd placing in the G2 Champagne. Expect bigger things from this big fella as we step up in distance in the sires and the JJ Atkins. Part owned spirit of boom and temple of boom were honest as always finishing 2nd and 4th respectively in the G1feature BTC Cup.... And finally Amexed showed his class stepping up from a Sunshine Coast maiden win to take out the G3 rough habit plate. He has since firmed up from $50s in the QLD derby to $7.50. Theres a fantastic syndicate of owners involved in this horse and we are thoroughly enjoying the ride with them. To top it all off our brave big filly Tornado Miss finished 3rd in the G2 the roses yesterday, stamping herself as a genuine oaks chance. She showed some serious tenacity and willingness to stay yesterday and has us excited about her future! (Almost as excited as we were to get the $13 to place yesterday!!) It is a great source of pride for all of us here on the farm to see our colours performing so well at this elite level.
25.01.2022 First one on the ground for the season. Lovely Sidestep colt.
24.01.2022 Green grass and Autumn sunshine here at River Junction today.
22.01.2022 Great win today from Pull Anchor at Doomben . A tough, talented filly bred here at a River Junction and retained to race with some great friends. Thanks to the team at Gollan Racing for turning her out so well!

22.01.2022 Great result for River Junction today topping day 1 of the Magic Millions March sale with our Sequalo x Admirals Affair colt. Sold through Kilto Park as agent to Gollan racing for $85,000.
21.01.2022 Happy first morning of spring. May the foals legs be straight and the pregnancies be on first cover.
21.01.2022 Double Digit Luck! Our tenth foal of the season was a lovely relaxed daytime foaling this morning, and seemed to kick off a much needed shower of rain. Here is... hoping the handsome Sooboog colt out of Bint Hameeda, owned by one of our great supporters in River Junction Stud, is the omen that helps bring some more much needed rain. See more

16.01.2022 River Junction has three starters today. The Storeman in race 3 at Doomben, Spurred Up in race 5 at Doomben and big Spirit Of Boom in the Newmarket! All three are flying and should be very competitive! Happy Punting.
16.01.2022 Exciting times ahead with 2yo River Junction Filly, Traveston Girl. She has shown us that she had ability all along, we just needed to see her show it on the track before we started getting too excited. 3 runs in and we have seen what she can do. An impressive 5.5 length victory. A short freshen up and we will head south for the spring!
15.01.2022 Well today is what racing is all about. We leave our little farm and head to town with 4 runners, all in Group 1 races. To say that these horses make us proud would be todays biggest understatement. The two boom boys, temple and spirit, part owned by River Junction step out in the time honoured Stradbroke, and as they always are, they will be right in the finish. Part owned Amexed carries our colours around in the QLD Derby. Its a long way from the Sunshine Coast maiden a ...month ago, but he showed his ability in winning the G3 Rough habit in the middle. Ridden quieter today I think we will see his best. The farm favourite Looks Like The Cat also carries our colours around in the G1 JJ Atkins for 2yos. As breeders this big fella is very important to us, his little sister and mum will be cheering him on from the farm. Ridden quietly, over a mile this time and with the Eagle Farm straight to wind up on, Im very confident he will make people sit up and take notice today! Happy racing everyone!
15.01.2022 Impressive full page article today in the Courier Mail on River Junction owned 2yo, Looks Like The Cat. The big fella steps out in group company at only his second start this weekend. The closer he gets to a mile the better we will see from him, but fingers crossed that his class can shine through in the 1200 this weekend.
14.01.2022 Hes a Head Turner! Flashy River Junction owned and Tony Gollan trained "Looks Like The Cat" lived up to the hype when scoring an impressive win on debut. The 2YO Husson gelding let down very impressively over the final 200, showing an incredible length of stride and impressive action. We expect him to only improve with age. His dam Fiery Dee currently has a Murtajill foal at foot and is back in foal to Husson.
13.01.2022 Big weekend of racing coming up for River Junction. We have 4 runners on Saturday at Doomben. -Spirit of Boom in G1 BTC Cup -Temple of Boom in G1 BTC Cup -Looks Like The Cat in the G2 Champagne... -Amexed in the G3 Rough Habit A very exciting day for all the team, its a great effort to get 4 runners in group races from such a relatively small racing team. A proud moment for everyone home at the farm. A big thankyou has to go to Gollan Racing who apply the polish to all 4 runners. Tony and his team do a great job and we cant recommend them enough to anyone wanting to race a horse in QLD.
13.01.2022 Thanks to the Johnston Family for an update on the hay drive : With over 5000km travelled, we have completed our first hay trip. We met up with families from J...ulia Creek, McKinlay, Stonehenge, Jundah, Prairie, Pentland, Blackall, Barcaldine, Winton, Ilfracombe, Longreach & Tambo. These areas are doing it very tough being in drought for the last 2 years. Many are having to seek work off farm to keep things going financially. Unfortunately it just was not possible to drop hay to each property so drop off points were coordinated. It was so pleasing for us to see this hay appreciated with some families travelling over 200km to collect hay. We have delivered over 700 bales as well as feed to families over the last couple of days. The trip has been completed with 2 Craiglea vehicles and a cattle truck from River Junction. With the help of the Droughtmaster Society, the Queensland Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Queensland Country Life, Channel 9 News and Racing Queensland we have been able to help families just in time for Christmas. We still aim to send hay to the Charleville and Quilpie areas once we have received more donations. All monetary donations would be appreciated to get this second hay drive up and running; donations to assist the drive can be deposited at any ANZ branch - BSB 014 669 ACC 286804759 Our Hay Drive story can be heard this morning at 10.30am on Radio 4 TAB (Brisbane frequency is 1008 AM or listen through this link http://tunein.com/radio/Radio-TAB-1008-s106294/ when Rob Luck interviews Paul Murphy from WIN Television. Paul Murphy, WIN News, joined us on the trip. Also dont forget to watch WIN News tomorrow (Wednesday) night for a story on our trip.
12.01.2022 Pride Of Dubai X Fiery Dee filly headed to the March QTIS Sale enjoying her morning turn out. Lovely strong filly, and a half to our old champion Looks Like The Cat.
12.01.2022 Two runners for River Junction in Brisbane today. Murtle Miss in race 2 and Satirical Lass in race 7. The wide barrier will make the task difficult for Murtle but the 3yo half sister to our debut 2yo winner,Looks Like The Cat, is flying at the moment so can hopefully overcome. Satirical Lass is drawn beautifully and should jump into a nice forward position. If she runs up to the form of her sensational trial last week I think she will be hard to beat.
10.01.2022 No filters needed for Autumn sunset pictures. Chroma loving her afternoon feed.
09.01.2022 River Junctions first trip to the Magic Millions Sale has paid off! Tyreel Stud have done an outstanding job preparing and presenting our draft and we really cant thank the team enough. Our little big brown filly held her own at 18k in Session 5 and our lovely Bel esprit Filly made 100k and is headed to the Kevin Moses stable. Most excitingly our first homebred through the ring and the first RJ branded yearling to be sold, the Choisir x Mountain Colt made $140k! A great return on service fee, and a great result having him go to the Tony McEvoy stable.
09.01.2022 Whiskey Allround has his first start back this preparation, stepping out in race 5 at eagle farm today. Fingers crossed he shows the potential we all know he has today.
08.01.2022 Lights are on, alarms are on, not far away from the first foal for 2020!
07.01.2022 Great result for our first one through the ring at the Classic sale. $150k for this beautiful All Too Hard colt from Chroma. Bred and raised at River Junction and prepped beautifully for sale by our friends at Kenmore Lodge. Going a a great home with Matt Dunn.
07.01.2022 River Junction will be selling two quality yearlings at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale. Lot 157 is a strong Sequalo colt from the Admiralty, Admirals Affair. He is a half brother to our star 2yo Whiskey Allround who was a brave second in the 2013 silver slipper. For any questions please call Joe Heather on 0413712465

03.01.2022 We are off on the open road! River Junction is proud to support this fantastic cause! I will be jumping in the truck on Thursday afternoon, loading up at Gatton at 4am friday to start chasing white lines! So far we have 3 trucks in the convoy with myself and the Craiglea team. We will be heading to Blackall, then Winton, then Julia Creek with plenty of stops and drop offs in between! It really is a great cause. When things are tough the first animals to suffer are the non i...ncome producing ones, usually kids ponies. No child should have to spend Xmas watching their beloved pony starve. The goal is to provide each child that has asked for assistance with 10 bales of hay which should maintain a pony for two months, by which time we hope the wet has arrived. We have also had a donation of a pallet of Mitavite Xtra cool, a pallet of Steam Flaked Barley and a bucket of workers from the Team at QLD Quality Hay and Produce. This was initiated by the always charitable Stan Johnson at Craiglea and is supported by the Queensland Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Droughtmaster Society. We have received many generous donations from the public and members of both groups. The calls for help are still coming in strong so please feel free to contact Craiglea Stud if you are able to help with any donations. Wish me luck and feel free to give me a call over the next few days to keep me awake while Im driving the truck!
02.01.2022 The last time I took a photo of this family foaling in this yard was the bottom pic when Cariad had a beautiful Snitzel colt that went on to be Cardiff, a horse of great potential that couldnt quite put it together on the track despite being stakes placed. Heres hoping the Better Than Ready Filly out of Cariads half sister Another Encore can live up to the family tradition (and a bit more )
01.01.2022 Today we have Satirical Lass and Myrtle Miss going head to head in Brisbane. Im thinking Satirical has her measure today.
01.01.2022 Newest addition to the River Junction Broodmare band. Un-raced maiden off the track Milla Magia is a half sister to champion racehorse and three time group 1 winner, Moment Of Change.
