24.01.2022 At the start of business on Friday March 27th 2020, the Government implemented Stage 3 Restrictions within the dental industry. These restrictions have been put in place to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19. Thankfully, our workplace, like many other dental and medical Practices, maintains a strict Infection Control Policy. This is complemented by our equally rigid cleaning and maintenance schedule throughout the Practice to ensure we operate in a hygienic environment.... Due to the enforcement of the Stage 3 Restrictions, we are only able to provide emergency treatment. Emergency treatment will include: Significant dental pain (usually affecting your sleep) Localised Infections and Swelling Broken teeth Any dental trauma Uncontrolled Bleeding Facial Swelling Necessary treatment for medically compromised people Or because you require surgery and something has to be corrected dentally before your operation. We are scheduling to return to normal practice from June onwards. Realistically Covid-19 may stretch out longer and if this is the case, we will call for a chat and to reschedule. I’m sure by then we’ll all be up for a chat! So, despite the closures which are bound to continue within the community, our Practice will remain open to help you through any emergencies, our phones will be working and you are welcome to call us to make or change appointments as you feel comfortable.

18.01.2022 Sugar and acidity of alcohol are major contributors to teeth erosion, as is the acid reflux which accompanies vomiting, an all too common consequence of a night of heavy drinking. Compounding the damage is the fact that many people stumble home and go straight to sleep after a big night out, only brushing their teeth the next morning, leaving their mouth unprotected from erosion and decay all night. Alcohol also dehydrates you, which affects how much saliva your mouth produces, and hence, how much protection your teeth are given. Drinking lots of water both when you’re out partying, and the next day when you’re recovering is one way to remedy the effects of excessive alcohol consumption, as is limiting the amount of soft drinks you consume.

10.01.2022 We have taken a number of steps to help protect our staff and patients during this outbreak, some of which include: We have implemented a daily health screening check point and log for all employees entering the workplace. Our staff pay special attention to their own symptoms and stay home if they present with symptoms of COVID-19. We request that the patient limit the number of visitors accompanying him or her to the dental appointment to only those people who are necess...ary. We advise patients that they, and anyone accompanying them to the appointment, will be requested to wear a cloth face covering or facemask when entering the facility and will undergo screening for fever and symptoms consistent with COVID-19. We telephone triage all patients in need of dental care. Assess the patient’s dental condition and determine whether the patient needs to be seen in the dental setting. We have provided supplies for respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, including alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) with at least 60% alcohol and tissues. We have removed toys, magazines, and other frequently touched objects from our waiting room that cannot be regularly cleaned and disinfected. There are clear signs at the front door to alert people who have either travelled overseas, had cold or flu symptoms or come in to contact with anyone that has had COVID-19 not to enter the building, and to call us for instructions. We adhere to strict environmental cleaning and disinfection procedures consistently and correctly after each patient. These are just a few of the many steps our practice has undertaken to ensure we are operating as safety as possible for staff and patients. Please call our clinic if you have any questions.

05.01.2022 If you need urgent dental care and think you may have COVID-19, it’s important to call your dentist and discuss your situation. If you have a dental emergency and have been diagnosed with COVID-19, dental treatment is available as an in-patient or within a hospital setting by appropriately trained and credentialed dental personnel.

01.01.2022 ADA Level 1 Restrictions COVID-19 UPDATE: All Dental Services Now Available As of May the 8th 2020 National Cabinet approved a move to Level 1 restrictions for dentistry. So what does this mean?... This means that if you are assessed to be a low risk patient (i.e. NO flu symptoms, recent travel history or contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case), we can provide you with our usual range of dental treatments! Where there are patients who DO meet epidemiological or clinical symptom criteria for COVID-19 risk, we are to defer non-urgent treatment. It is imperative that we continue to be vigilant in the application of Level 1 restrictions and ensure the safety of our patients, our dental team, and consequently, their families. I hope this helps you in understanding where we are at in the current COVID-19 environment. All our dentists are back on board and taking appointments. All enquiries are welcome If you have delayed dental treatment because of the Coronavirus and are symptom free please do not hesitate to call our clinic on (03) 9882 5566 For your peace of mind we will continue to follow ADA COVID-19 guidelines for dental treatments. On behalf of our entire team at Riversdale Dental, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish you and your family all the best. We’re all in this together please stay safe.
