25.01.2022 Deadly disease outbreak in Sydney - Leptospirosis The University of Sydney Teaching Hospital has informed us that there has been yet another confirmed Leptospirosis case from Crows Nest early this month. In Sydney, there were 8 cases diagnosed last year and 2 more this month. Leptospirosis is a potentially deadly infection that is spread through rats and mice. There have been no cases diagnosed around the Riverstone area so vaccination is not yet mandatory, however if your d...og lives on acreage or you are travelling near areas with rats or mice, vaccination against the infection could be recommended. Please call or message us if you want further information and to see if our vet recommends vaccination for your pet.

24.01.2022 Greyhounds And Their Corns Gracie came to us having very sore paws. Greyhounds are very prone to getting corns, which are circular hardened areas of paw pad. Essentially she is "walking with a stone in her shoe" and are very painful. The older techniques involved shelling them out however they have a high recurrence rate. For Gracie, we performed a new technique where we cut a tendon in the foot which works extremely well to get rid of the corn for good!!! In a few weeks, th...e corn falls out and the pain disappears. If you know anyone with a greyhound having pain from corns, please share this post as many owners are not aware of this newer "tenotomy" technique. We love seeing greyhounds and Gracie was no different!! Such gentle souls xxx

19.01.2022 This little pint-sized cutie, Poppet, came in to be desexed yesterday. The staff smothered her with cuddles (how can you not when something is so adorable!!!). She woke up "as snug as a bug in a rug" in the toasty warm humidicrib. Such a sweetheart!
18.01.2022 Missy came in to see us after her pawrents noticed her really uncomfortable in the back of her throat and nose. We sedated her to take a closer look and found the cause.....a bee stinger!!! It was lodged in the back of her throat. We removed it and gave some medicine to alleviate the pain. Missy obviously learnt the hard way that bees are not for eating!!! Poor little love!!!

15.01.2022 Wearing an Elizabethan collar is always a little humiliating for our furbabies. But Rosie's parents made hers a fashion statement!! What a ripper idea and so adorably cute!!
14.01.2022 Our favourite kind of thank you gift...TimTams!!! It was so good to see Bob recover remarkably quickly after having a massive lump removed near his tail. Thank you to his parents for the kind gift!!!
13.01.2022 We saw two little puppies this week, both had unfortunately cracked their baby tooth. Not only are cracked teeth painful, but they are at high risk of infection and further pain. Puppies can be really rough on their mouths and their baby teeth are super fragile!! Avoid bones or hard objects to chew on where possible. Luckily for these pups we removed the painful teeth before they became infected and their adult teeth will grow through in a few months.
09.01.2022 Bravery award goes to Truffles!!! Truffles came in after her mum noticed she was really lethargic all of a sudden and not herself. After Dr Erin examined her, and doing an ultrasound, it was apparent she had a large lump in her tummy that was bleeding. Truffles, weighing only 3kg, emergency surgery was performed immediately. Dr Erin had to stem the bleeding and remove the tumor. Her recovery was nothing but inspirational!!! The following day showing she was much brighter and... happier. For a pint sized little thing, she had a strong will to survive. So proud of you Truffles xxx
08.01.2022 Rivo came in for a visit for his yearly checkup. Our team were shocked how huge and tall he was, weighing in at 48kg. His mum certainly got her money's worth!!! 03.01.2022 JINX!!!! The LIFE SAVER!!! I would like to make a special mention of this lovely lady. In the last few weeks, we have had some patients needing blood transfusions. These patients would have died without a blood donation. Jinx put her paw up to help. We are so grateful for her and her mum offering to assist our sick patients in hospital. Its a generous gift to give and we think she is an absolute legend for doing so!!!!
