24.01.2022 A reminder for the Regulars out there! Casual Pilates is running through January and as a few can attest, we aren't taking it easy so far! Don't fall too far behind before the long term ahead!!! Classes coming up include; -Wednesday 15th Jan 6pm -Friday 17th Jan 9am... -Monday 20th Jan (maybe merged into Wednesday class... -Wednesday 22nd Jan 6pm -Friday 24th Jan 9am I won't tease you with the program for this week !

23.01.2022 With a very hectic couple of weeks and feeling somewhat run down and unwell this week, it was so lovely to receive a card from a patient on Wednesday. With a 2-3 week waiting list, I apologise for not being able to book patients in as quickly as you guys need it, but the cancellation list is always there and I will try my hardest to get you in as soon as I can. I love what I do and know that I make a difference to so many but it is always nice when someone provides such gorgeous feedback and sweet treats!!

20.01.2022 Hi all, The Australian Physio Association have been hard at work clarifiying what Physio's can/cant do in light of the New Cluster of Covid Cases and associated restrictions as at midnight last night. The long and the short of it is that there are no change to operations within the clinic. If I am working near a client's face/hand, I will choose to use a mask, but it is not mandatory. Physio's have had a lot of concern about Pilates/Exercises Classes but these are deemed to b...e okay (even Indoors). I am very open to the prospect of co-teaching through Zoom and in person, so if you would prefer to avoid any group work and join us from the comfort of your couch, I absolutely support that and potentially encourage it, as that allows us to space out further in the room anyway. Hand Sanitiser will be located at the doors (entrance and exits) and I request that no one opens the door except me. It is still required that you bring your own mat and props where possible. I will send an email/text messages around anyway, but please let me know if you have any concerns. It goes without saying, but if you have had any visits to the affected areas, or close contact with someone who has, please let me know and you can certainly enjoy the class from the comfort of your own home, and hold off on any appointments in the clinic for a couple of weeks.

19.01.2022 6 days of R&R at Rehab and Repair Physio! We are closed (like so many other businesses) in accordance with the SA Government "Circuit Breaker" Restrictions (aka Lockdown). Exercise/Pilates classes will still go ahead via Zoom from the safety of your home, so we can at least still keep in contact and keep those bodies moving! I will send out the appropriate links to your email addresses over the coming days!! Stay Safe everyone, and we'll get on top of this ASAP!

19.01.2022 With all the negativity around it’s nice to share some great news! Congratulations to Watervale Tennis club for their win in finals today!!

18.01.2022 Very pleased to be back in Auburn tonight after 3 days in Adelaide undergoing some great upskilling! I have had the privilege of attending the Watson Headache Institute Level 1 Foundation Headache Course titled The Role of C1-3 Cervical Afferents in Primary Headache as presented by Dean Watson of www.watsonheadacheinstitute.com. The course comprised 24 hours and was based on the Watson Headache Approach, a protocol for the skilled assessment and management of the upper ce...rvical (neck) spine in headache and migraine conditions. The Watson Headache Approach is recognised as a scientifically researched method of examination and treatment. The diagnostic accuracy of the Watson Headache Approach is unparalleled. It can confirm if disorders in the upper neck are responsible for headache or migraine and determine the exact nature of the disorder as well as which spinal joints are involved. It is very specific and does not involve any aggressive treatment, cracking or manipulation. For further information, go to: www.WatsonHeadacheApproach.com. For those of you experienced with my thumbs, you will be pleased to know (as I was!), that these techniques are far more gentle then local treatments I have used previously. Can’t wait to put them to use! If you would like to book in for Headache treatment, please advise reception staff, as an Initial Assessment time will be required in order to comprehensively address the new assessment and treatment methods . To achieve treatment momentum and maintenance of neck joint positioning in the early stages of the program twice weekly treatment for the first couple of weeks is recommended, so the reception staff may suggest booking these extra appointments ahead of time.

13.01.2022 When you’re 6 years old, you break your arm and your Mum’s a physio... new splint.... Years of hand therapy and splinting pay off! #physiotrumpsEmergencybackslab.

13.01.2022 So we survived the first Pilates class on the Courts! Thank you everyone for being so accommodating and helping me go with the flow! Love my classes, don’t want to give them up!!!

11.01.2022 We all need an escape at the moment, little bit of 'active' mindfulness, a little bit of sunshine, and some non-corona related banter! For that reason (and the boring infection control stuff), Pilates is continuing this week (at least) but the venue has changed! We will be outdoors (yet to completely confirm choice of venue) with as much space around you as you feel you need! Messages will be sent to all participants prior to the class to remind you, but, please bring outdoo...r equipment as appropriate (sunglasses, sunscreen, mozzie repellent). Full length towels to completely cover the mats are essential (and bring your own mat if you can). Every prop will be disinfected after each use, if you have your own bits, please feel free to bring them. New rule though, after the first 5min debrief, if anyone (including me!) brings up the Carona Virus, doom and gloom or the impending apocalypse, 5 push or banded squats will be required from that individual at the end of the class. This will be a cumulative total, so could get nasty! We need to keep our mental states healthy while keeping our bodies stretching, moving and strong. Anxiety only aids to increasing our musculoskeletal tension, so while we can continue running classes, it is certainly my intention to do so!

11.01.2022 Loving our new storage shelves!! Finally can show everyone how much we have to offer! Tapes, creams, posture braces, ice packs, wheat bags, massage aids, exercise equipment, splints/braces, non slip socks, back support cushions and a friendly smile from Bonnie at the desk!!!

10.01.2022 Just thought I’d ask if any of my clients wants to pick up a free unpowered (no cords) exercise bike? It is a very low resistance, the seat is missing some padding and the screen doesn’t work so well. So all in all it’s not great but still let’s you pedal quietly while watching TV! Will list it on the free sites but just thought I’d pop it here first!

09.01.2022 First trial zoom Pilates class tonight!! Well done guys for being the guinea pig! A few kinks to iron out but think we can figure something out for Term 2!

09.01.2022 Zooming into the future in Term 2 with Video-conference Pilates sessions! Forget the gift of chocolate this Easter, give yourself the gift of fitness! Emails went out to current and 'recent' past Pilates participants about signing up for Term 2. I am so thrilled with the response I have had to date and the test runs we have done over the last couple of weeks have demonstrated a surprisingly good internet connection in some notorious dead spots and have given me the opportuni...ty to iron out the tech kinks and buy up on the gadgets (web cam, blue tooth head set, and projector screen all on order - 3 months ago who would have thought I would say all of those words in the one sentence!). I am not sure whether I take on beginners into a video-conference world, but if you are keen, let me know. Price structure will be different, and class numbers would be a maximum of 4, but am happy to take expressions of interest anyway. However, compared to the beginners out there, for those of you with some Pilates/Core strengthening experience/base fitness, if you are interested in giving Pilates a go, or returning after hiatus, now is the perfect chance! I have reduced class price by 50% given the financial hardship much of us are experiencing at the moment, so classes are only $10/session. Classes resume at the start of school term and run for 10 weeks. I have altered the pricing to $10/class and the booking schedule to two 5 week blocks just in case people are unsure of how they will go with connectivity and scheduling. Any new participants are still required to undergo a face-face consultation to enable an understanding of their physical capacity, fitness level, body awareness, pelvic floor history and core stability engagement. If you are a previous participant and would like to return or expressing interest as a new client, please let me know through PM, email ([email protected]) or phone 0474 706 068. Current class schedules include; -Monday 5:30pm-6:30pm (Advanced) -Monday 6:30pm-7:30pm (Intermediate) -Wednesday 9am-10am (Intermediate) -Wednesday 5:30pm-6:30pm (ong beginners) -Wednesday 6:30pm-7:30pm (Advanced) -Friday 9am-10am (Intermediate) Term 2a 5 weeks (27th April 2020 - 29th May 2020) Term 2b (no new participants) 5 weeks (1st June 2020 -30th July 2020)

08.01.2022 To all of our loyal clients and the wider Clare Valley community, we just wanted to touch base with you regarding the COVID-19 developments. While SA Health, our federal government and the medical community assure us we are in a low risk zone we will obviously make sure we are doing everything possible to continue to make sure you and your families are safe and healthy. We want to assure you that even though we normally pride ourselves on hygiene and cleanliness within the cl...inic, we are going that extra mile to provide an extra layer of protection for our clients. Frequency of whole clinic cleans have increased, we have increased the availability of hand sanitiser within reception, and external to the clinic entrance. As a Physiotherapy clinic, health precautions and concern regarding any potential cross contamination is nothing new. The clinic bed has always been routinely cleaned after each use, but as those who have visited in the last 2 weeks will have noticed the additional step of the newly released disposable Purifas face shields which provide 100% coverage of the face hole and the breathing collar of the table. In addition, frequency of hard surface cleaning (including chair arm rests, eftpos machine, door knobs, desks etc) have been increased and we are utilising an antimicrobial product rather then the standard detergent. As a clinic & community we endeavour to put our patients first. We have a number of immuno-suppressed, pregnant & elderly patients that attend our clinic, as such we kindly ask you to reschedule your appointment if you're feeling unwell or have any of the following symptoms; - Sore throat - Cough - Shortness of breath - Fever Rehab and Repair Physio will remain open (unless otherwise advised) and will be there to provide the support you need in the safe environment you deserve.

04.01.2022 So Wednesday 28th is the clinic's 6th Birthday!!! I can't believe 6 years ago I was setting up the clinic with an 11 month old (Number 2 not yet in the planning stage...), thinking that maybe I would get a few part time days a week of work, and preparing to travel here there and everywhere to add in some Occupational Physio work to make up the difference. The Auburn Institute meeting room was my beloved space which looking back seems like a Pop-Up shop but gave me the abilit...y to gamble on starting a business when I wasn't sure it would work... 6 years on and so much has changed. -I have 2 beautiful girls (the second of which starts her first day at our amazing Auburn Primary School next week, - I have moved locations to 42 Main North Rd to a space I still have to pinch myself that it is where I come to every day - After 3 years of going solo, I have had the greatest fortune to add some wonderful reception staff to my daily life (thanks to Kelly (who guided me through a very crazy year) and subsequently, Bonnie and Wendy who now keep me sane on a daily basis. -I have 6 Core strengthening classes with 45-50 participants per week -And I am so fortunate to have the support of 1485 clients who have trusted their injuries and bodies to me, referred friends and family and then returned again if they have had the misfortune of becoming injured again. I am so grateful for the community I live in, my clients and my family. I wouldn't be anywhere else! Thank you all for supporting me, being patient as the waiting list grows and thank you especially to those clients who lend me an ear and give me the motivation to keep going for strength to strength. Mel.

02.01.2022 Well once again, I made the decision at 10am this morning (8 hours in front of the government) that Pilates classes need to change. Tomorrow's classes (and the rest of the week) will be held online through Zoom! I have already sent emails and text messages to tomorrow's clients and was planning on sending those messages to Wednesday and Friday clients tomorrow (very tired of sitting at the computer!!). But rest assured, I have preemptively organised the solution (and practised it)- we go digital this week guys!! Unfortunately that is going to make my usual Easter pilates classes, much less fun... :(
