24.01.2022 Roadmasters House - One Year On "It is now a year since the Trust was granted a 10-year lease over the heritage listed house at 1 McMinn Street, Darwin. The lease provides for the building to be used as a museum on the condition that it is open to the public for a minimum of 15 hours each week. This operation is made possible by a panel of volunteers attending on five mornings each week." Full Article available in September issue of eNews

15.01.2022 *Darwin Bombing Survivor Visits Roadmasters House* EXCERPT: Roadmasters House had a distinguished visitor recently when WWII veteran Basil Stahl visited the Museum. Basil was visiting Darwin from Yandina in Queensland to attend the Bombing of Darwin commemoration in February. He is now one of the few living veterans to have experienced the bombing on 19th February 1942.... 15.01.2022 Have you noticed that Roadmaster's House has a new fence and signs? We’d like to thank the Northern Territory Government for selecting us for a Community Benefit Fund grant which allowed us to make these improvements.



09.01.2022 Goyder’s Day 2018 Despite the inclement weather about 25 enthusiasts made it to Roadmaster's House Museum on Monday 5th February to commemorate the 149th anniversary of the foundation of Darwin. National Trust NT President Trevor Horman commenced proceedings by welcoming visitors and outlining the significance of the occasion.... Museum Curator Trevor Menzies followed up by recounting the achievements of the Northern Territory Survey Expedition in surveying land that has evolved in to the City of Darwin and beyond. Her Honour, the Honourable Vicki O'Halloran AM, Administrator of the Northern Territory will be giving the oration ho...nouring the memory of historian Barbara James as part of the Darwin Heritage Festival."Her Honour will speak on the history of the women of Government House - their fascinating stories and the impact they have had from early days until the present". This event will be held in the beautiful grounds of Burnett House this evening at 5.30pm for a 6pm start and will conclude by 7pm.
