07.01.2022 WA’s first ever pedestrian priority precinct is nearing completion on Hay Street. Located at Kaal Yimniny in the east end, the new precinct is the first of its ...kind in Perth where pedestrians have right of way, and motorists’ speed limits will be reduced to 20km/h. Aiming to change the character of the street, the precinct is a collaboration between the City of Perth, Main Roads Western Australia and the Road Safety Commission. Designed to help people of all ages and abilities navigate through the east end, the area boasts extra wide footpaths, new street furniture, native trees and outdoor dining opportunities.
