25.01.2022 Please, don't hesitate to call me if you are curious about a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal, as it's always better to get the advice before the purchase and not after. :)

23.01.2022 If you are considering the purchase of a Computer, Tablet, etc. don't forget this Friday is the Black Friday sales. For example, Dell has a great bargain on a high-end laptop (**UPDATE - This model is now SOLD OUT) - https://www.dell.com//spd/inspiron-15-5501-la/hni550106au If you want any help finding a great deal on something I can help with, just phone, text, or email. I am happy to help :)

23.01.2022 It has been a mainstay and a source of controversy for 25 years, but pretty soon not even its creator Microsoft is going to use Internet Explorer. The software giant has announced that by this time next year, you wont be able to use Internet Explorer (IE) to read your Outlook emails or edit Word documents in the Cloud as the company drops support for the browser in its Office 365 applications. - https://www.news.com.au///2195b111b522071267455f2c4089b8ec

23.01.2022 Just a heads up, I will be unavailable all day Wednesday as I have personal matters to attend to. Will be back on deck Thursday morning @ 8.00am :)

22.01.2022 Those that have ever received an email from me, or potentially will get one in the future. I have what is called a signature in my Gmail settings from when I first started my business (see image). This contains my current times and contact information. If I have taken a call, etc outside of these times and sent a follow-up email with any relevant information and you have noticed the signature. It is not intended as "having a go" at you for contacting me outside of those hours, and I didnt think it would be misconstrued that way. A client raised her concern with me today in a very stern email. So, please, each and every one of you, accept my apologies for this if you felt that way, as it was not my intention.

21.01.2022 Currently there is a myth/hoax being shared in Facebook feeds. The hoax goes - Dont forget tomorrow starts the new Facebook rule where they can use your photos. Dont forget Deadline today!!! It can be used in court cases in litigation against you. Everything youve ever posted becomes public from today Even messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed... This myth has been circulating since 2017 and is completely false. Sharing this post will just clutter news-feeds and continue the myth ;)

20.01.2022 To avoid getting the Agent Smith malware infection, please dont download apps from unknown sources, use Playstore. Currently over 25 million Android users worldwide have been infected. News story to follow :)

20.01.2022 Food for thought - a computer with no Internet History is peculiar but I have the tools to find it

20.01.2022 So all good things must come to an end. Enjoyed some time off but today I'm officially back to work for 2020. Although I did work Boxing Day and New Years Day

20.01.2022 More OS issues, this time it's Chrome Like it or not, Chromebooks do have something of an expiration date when you purchase them, namely that one day they'll stop receiving updates. Thankfully, that date is typically over five years after the Chromebook's original release. For some, however, Chrome OS has been wrongly indicating this week that their Chromebook has received its "final update" many years too early. Just like the Chrome browser on desktop and Android, Chrome OS ...has four different update "channels" -- Stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary. Each one of these after Stable trades a level of stability for more rapid updates, with Canary receiving highly unstable updates almost every day. People who are bold enough to put their Chromebook on Dev or Canary have been facing an interesting new issue for the past few days. Upon restarting their device, Chrome OS immediately displays a notification warning that "this is the last automatic software and security update for this Chromebook." Of course, if you're seeing this message this week, there's a decent chance that this is not actually the case. Instead, these final update warnings are caused by a bug in the most recent versions of Chrome OS. PSA: Chrome OS is incorrectly sending final update notifications to some Chromebooks - https://9to5google.com//psa-chrome-os-final-update-notifi/

19.01.2022 I have noticed a lot 1 & 2 Terabyte USBs being sold in on-line stores and some of the Facebook buy swap and sells. Only one maker (Kingston) currently makes 1 & 2 Terabyte USB drives and they are quite expensive. 1Tb being $967.50 (Amazon + Delivery) and 2Tb being $2354.00 (Amazon + Delivery) (see images). Please be careful when purchasing USB storage devices, as sometimes if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably isnt.

19.01.2022 Some people are taking it to extremes. This week, IT News reported (via Alex Walker at Kotaku) that one NBN customer managed to download 26,807GB of data in June this year. Thats 26.8 terabytes of data, which is absolutely phenomenal. To understand just how much data 26 TB actually is, you could download the entire collection of Spotify music within that allowance, or hundreds of games off a service like Steam. - Wow

18.01.2022 So all good things must come to an end. Enjoyed some time off but today Im officially back to work for 2020. Although I did work Boxing Day and New Years Day

18.01.2022 Just because it's Christmas, doesn't mean the scams stop, in fact, they just become more prevalent. Here is one of the latest celebrating Woolworth's 100th Birthday. Firstly, Woolworths was started in 1924 making it only 96 years old. Secondly, there is no Blue-tick, the verified badge that appears next to a Facebook Page or account's name in search and on the profile. It means Facebook has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure, celebrity, or global brand it represents. Please don't share or comment on these posts as they benefit no one but the poster. :)

16.01.2022 Congrats to a female client of mine, who has the new official data recovery time record. The previous record set was approx 13 days, however, it has been surpassed with the likelihood of it never being beaten lol. The new record is 526 days. That computer can do some other work now

15.01.2022 Always a good start to your Friday, when you find out your PayPal account got hacked Im hoping things dont happen in 3s

15.01.2022 If you are a Telstra customer you may be experiencing internet access difficulties. Thousands of Telstra internet customers in Sydney and Melbourne have been hit by a mass outage sparked by a cyber attack. The company confirmed home internet connections, both broadband and NBN, are down due to a Denial of Service attack, with no timeframe given on when a restoration is expected. The outage was reported about 11am on Sunday, its understood.... Telstra said Domain Name Servers were impacted by the attack. Weve identified the issue and are working on it, the telco said in a tweet. Some of our Domain Name Servers (DNS) used to route your traffic online are experiencing a cyber attack, known as a Denial of Service (DoS). Your info isnt at risk. Were doing all we can to get you back online.

15.01.2022 If you are a Telstra customer and utilise their webmail portal, then you may have experienced problems of late displaying your messages and inbox. If you fall into this group and use Google Chrome, then try using Microsoft Edge temporarily. Although both web browsers are built using the Chromium engine, Edge seems to be unaffected. :)

14.01.2022 Is there any benefit to defragging a Solid State Drive? No - Conventional logic dictates that you should never defrag an SSD, because the SSD controller writes data in a scattershot-fashion to multiple NAND chips and locations, using algorithms that only the controller understands. The operating system sees it as a hard drive with sectors, but the data is spread all over the drive by the controller. Defragging these sectors is like trying to assemble a jigsaw puzzle blindfolded: You can feel parts of the pattern, but you can’t see the whole picture. In addition, NAND is good for only a few thousand write cycles, so defragging can reduce the SSD’s lifespan by unnecessarily writing data to it. :)

14.01.2022 Just found what I think is a nice deal on a Dell laptop - https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/6j8x i7 up to 4.7Ghz, 8Gb RAM, 256 M2 SSD, 15.6" screen. Ticks a lot of the boxes :)

13.01.2022 WINDOWS 10 Update issues Microsoft's latest Cumulative Update KB4512941 for Windows 10 May 2019 Update(1903) may be Microsoft's buggiest yet, with the update already known for being plagued with high CPU usage bugs* and crippled search. Now reports of a new bug are filtering in, with users reporting that their screenshots all have an orange tint, no matter which method or app they use to take them.... The issue appears to be related to older video drivers, as updating drivers (or uninstalling KB4512941) appears to fix this problem. * Microsoft has told Forbes that the spike in CPU usage "only occurs on devices that have disabled searching the web using Windows Desktop Search" -- and that they're planning to release a fix for this update-related bug in mid-September. Here are the links for further reading: Microsoft acknowledges high CPU usage Windows 10 bug - https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-acknowledges-high-proces/ Microsofts latest Cumulative Update(KB4512941) for Windows 10 1903 makes the Windows search unusuable - https://mspoweruser.com/microsofts-latest-cumulative-updat/ My screen turns red when I capture a screenshot - https://answers.microsoft.com//f752193c-92fd-4fb2-ba91-36e

12.01.2022 Each month we get WINDOWS updates. This month it is imperative that you do those updates as soon as possible. A major flaw has been identified, specifically an attacker could exploit the vulnerability by using a spoofed code-signing certificate to sign a malicious executable, making it appear the file was from a trusted, legitimate source. ** The user would have no way of knowing the file was malicious, because the digital signature would appear to be from a trusted provi...der. ** A successful exploit could also allow the attacker to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks and decrypt confidential information on user connections to the affected software. The security update addresses the vulnerability by ensuring that Windows CryptoAPI completely validates ECC certificates. Please do your updates today

11.01.2022 If you are one of the many people who utilise VLC player, please ensure that you have version 3.0.3 or later (current Version 3.0.7.1) to ensure that an identified security vulnerability is patched. :)

11.01.2022 Telstra, Nicole from NBN, Microsoft, Optus, etc will not make unsolicited calls to you concerning your laptop/ desktop computer and whether it is infected with a virus, been infiltrated by a hacker, etc. Also, your ISP (internet service provider) will suspend your account should it show suspicious activity. I say this because of the attached image, this happened to a client in the last 3 weeks. They were duped into believing the scammer was legit, and unfortunately in this case the client lost $2,000. If you have any doubt, hang up the phone and please call me, as I am happy to help with any advice/info to ensure your funds and computer stays safe from scammers.

11.01.2022 Thank you for this lovely gift, Mr. Max Foot OAM and Goombungee RSL Sub Branch Inc.

11.01.2022 Just got a bit of an overwhelming issue to contend with over the next few weeks so availability might be very limited. Just email me on [email protected], messenger, or text. My apologies for any and all inconveniences caused :)

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, still working but of course doing as much remote assistance as I can, rather than in-person. If the issue is internet access or a hardware failure, I would still have to have some face to face time with clients. Taking every precaution I can and staying in isolation otherwise. I hope everyone is staying safe and adhering to social distancing and all of the requirements that we have to follow during this COVID-19 crisis. Well get through this

08.01.2022 It happens every week, and although I hate to take the wind from people's sails and disappoint them, best they know the truth. There are a number of click bait pages in effect at the moment. The 2 I have noticed this week (as there are many every week) are the following regarding WOOLWORTHS and QANTAS. Neither of these competitions are real, and here's how to spot the real from the fake. Image 1, COLES is a real Facebook page. It has the blue tick to show it's authentic, it ...also has a website and phone number for contact and finally the page was created July 5, 2011. Image 2 QANTAS Air, does not have the blue tick, it has no contact details i.e. phone number or website and was created November 13, 2019. Image 3 WOOLWORTHS, again, no blue tick, no contact details i.e phone number or website and was created December 5, 2019. Most fake pages are created in the preceding 30 days. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is not an authentic page. Good luck when you do find a genuine competition :) See more

07.01.2022 Interesting fact, Google was originally called Backrub when it was first created. In 1997, Page and Brin decided to rename BackRub to something else. Google was born. Not sure we would be saying "Backrub it"

06.01.2022 Been tinkering with a website (my own) and wondering if I will ever finish it lol. Built using pure HTML and Javascript. Will keep your all posted on my progress :)
