25.01.2022 Our Development Programs are getting results With only a few rounds to go 8 of our 12 competition grade teams for boys/mixed are in the top 4 with a further 3 pushing for the top 4 ! Our top teams in Under 13,14,15s are all currently first and our 16s are second only on goal difference. ... Four of our 5 JPL teams are top 4 with the other 5th and the talent coming through in our Under 9,10,11s is a sign of big things to come Well done Robina City

25.01.2022 Under 18s In 2021 we will have 2 teams in Under 18s again - JPL and Division 1. Our 2019 Coach of the Year Frank Rodino will oversee the 18s program. His Under 16s were Grand Final Runner-Up this year. Training will commence on Monday 11 January at 630 and continue on Monday’s and Wednesday’s. The 18s are part of our pathway to Premier League where we finished top 4 in 2020. Our Under 18s and a Metro Division 1 team filled with Under 23 players in 2021 will build toward an... All our JPL teams have a paid coach and fees are $600, or for Under 12s either $440 or $640 with 3 training sessions per week with 1 session with the GCU Talent Centre. ... 24.01.2022 2021 GIRL'S TRAINING TIMETABLE Robina City prides itself on it’s female football program with 9 Girl’s teams and 5 Women’s teams in 2020. We expect to have a similar number of teams in 2021. Coaches are locked in for our Girl’s teams as below and we have back-up coaches ready in the event we have 2 teams per combined age group. All coaches are experienced with coaching girls. Any player registered and paid by 23 January or on an automated payment plan will be allocated a... place. After that spaces will depend on availability. We have a Come and Try clinic on 23 January 9-10am and our Girl’s Director will be available afterward for questions. FGC have advised that the girls competitions in 2021 will involve teams playing in combined age groups 8/9s, 10/11s, 12/13s, 14/15s, and 16/17s. We anticipate we will have 2 teams in most if not all age groups. 22.01.2022 Junior Technical Director(s) Robina City is seeking Junior Technical Directors to cover Under 6s to 18s across 4 afternoons per week (430-730pm), and every second match day (Friday night and Saturday morning). 3 options ... 1. One person fills this role 2. The role is shared between 2 coaches who work in together (6-11s; 12-18s) 3. The role is shared between 3 coaches who work in together (6-9s; 10-12s; 13-18s) The successful applicant(s) must have a MINIMUM of the following: 5 years coaching experience Youth C licence or working toward The relevant technical knowledge, and organisational and interpersonal skills to work with our team of coaches and club committee. The ability to deliver model coaching sessions. Previous experience in a TD role is ideal. The TD (s) will be the primary point of contact for and responsible for overseeing and facilitating coach education and development. The club has a Coaching Coordinator in place for coordinating and equipping coaches. The TD(s) will be remunerated consistent with a community club and be expected to have a commitment to community football, the Gold Coast and facilitating a love of the game. 22.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS Life Member #4 Phil Hallowes Life Membership is the highest honour a club can afford its long serving volunteers as an acknowledgement of their dedication, sacrifices, and role in forming and building a club. At the recent AGM several people were nominated and voted in as Life Members. Each of them will be featured over the next few weeks. ... Joining #1 Terry Swift, #2 Leonie Shrimpton, and #3 Paul Rushton is #4 Phil Hallowes. Phil was inducted last night at the 1992-94 Reunion. Phil attended the very first meeting held to discuss the formation of Robina City, and then became the Founding President. He was involved in choosing the club name, colours and location. Phil continued on as President from formation in 1992 through to 1996. He remained at the club afterward for a number of years where his son Mark continued to play. His other son Anthony also played for Robina in its early years before moving cities. Thank you Phil, and thank you to your wife Wendy and your children for your commitment to Robina City. Carl played Premier League at several Gold Coast clubs and had a brief stint coaching Premier League too. He also played in the UK from 2000 to 2008. Training commences next week ! 08.01.2022 Life Member #5 Wendy Rushton Welcome Wendy Rushton as a Robina City Life Member Life Membership is the highest honour a club can afford its long serving volunteers as an acknowledgement of their dedication, sacrifices, and role in forming and building a club. ... At the recent AGM several people were nominated and voted in as Life Members as part of Robina improving the recognition of our history. Each of them will be featured over the next few weeks. Joining #1 Terry Swift, #2 Leonie Shrimpton, #3 Paul Rushton, and #4 Phil Hallowes is #5 Wendy Rushton. Wendy is now in her 8th year as a committee member and is therefore one of our club’s 5 longest serving committee members in our 28 year history. Wendy has fulfilled many roles over the years including Registrar for 4 years, Womens Director, Womens Premier League Manager for 4 years, Under 6/7 Coordinator, Trainee Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator. She has been a Team Manager for 14 teams overall. She has regularly performed clubhouse duty for the last 6 years. She also played football for the first time in her 40s to help Robina field 3 women’s teams as per the Women’s Hub requirements for 2015 and 2016. An example of her giving is Wendy recently painted the referee room for the first time, over 4 nights assisted by Ross Wallace and trainee Angelica. Earlier this year when her family had no children playing at the club she was still at the club 4 days a week to volunteer. Her son Riley subsequently decided to play post-COVID. Wendy joins her husband Paul as a Life Member. Along with Wendy playing they have had 3 children play for the club: Issy, Josh and Riley. 07.01.2022 10 Year Coach Recognition: Matt Glew Robina City has a small but loyal group of coaches who have coached for 10 years or more. This year we acknowledge 2 coaches joining the 10 year club. The first is Matt Glew. Matt first started Assistant coaching at Robina in 2009. After his eldest daughter Amber moved to NPL, Matt returned after time out to coach his youngest daughter Vanessa. Matt coached girls teams for many years before moving into womens in 2019. He was our Womens D...irector in 2020 and coached both our Brisbane Premier League and Reserve’s womens teams in the second half of 2020. Over the 10 years, he was Assistant Coach when Amber’s Under 13 team won the 2011 Grand Final. He was Assistant Coach when Vanessa’s team made their first Grand Final, before taking over the team and coaching them to 2 Premierships and 4 consecutive Grand Finals with 3 wins. During one stint his team went undefeated for 38 games. Matt’s wife Kylie was the Manager for many of his teams over the years. Matt was also our Girl’s Director for a number of years during a significant growth period for our Girl’s program. In 2018 Matt also coached an Under 15 Gold Coast Girl’s team in the FQ Community Cup. Thank you Matt and to your family for your commitment to Robina City

He is nearing the end of his 6th year on the club committee. Prior to his time at Robina he coached at Merrimac FC. Mario has made a profound impact on the viability and success of Robina. He has been the Canteen and Bar Manager for those 6 years ensuring the canteen provides the highest quality food and turns a healthy profit that keeps our fees low in comparison to other clubs. He has also developed our Tiny Tots into a very successful program and in addition to those roles has coached numerous teams over the years with or without his son Anthony who played for the club for a number of years before becoming a high level referee. He has twice won Volunteer of the Year. Every Saturday you will see him in the canteen from early to finish (often for 13 hours) as well as Friday nights. He is ‘famous in Japan’ and loves to serenade our members on a regular basis. His wife Rita has often helped in the canteen too. Mario’s brother Sam is our regular canteen chef across the week. His love, passion, and commitment to Robina City is the hallmark of a Life Member. Thank you Mario and wife Rita for your commitment to Robina City. Registration and payment assistance will be available at the club on Saturday 23 January between 9 and 12. To ensure a place in a team you must be fully registered and paid or on an automated payment plan by 23 January (details will be provided in January). ... Further information about gradings and training times will be provided in due course.

03.01.2022 43 new players to club football joined our Come and Try experience today including 17 girls Registration will commence online early January. Registration assistance at the club on Saturday 23 January. We will have a second Come and Try experience that day at 830am. Under 6s and 7s are $299 including 2 jerseys to keep, 2 training sessions per week, and games on Saturdays mornings. ... Under 6s will train Mondays and Wednesdays at 430. Under 7s Tuesdays and Thursdays at 430. There may be some variations to those times for some teams where a coach needs to start later or needs a different day. ** Please note a player turning 6 in the calendar year 2021 is considered an Under 6 (a player turning 7 is Under 7 and so forth) Training times for all other age groups will be posted in due course. All fees are the same as 2020 and will be posted soon.

Under 13 Under 14 Under 15 Under 16 Under 17 2 of these squads will be Advanced Development Squads for girls age 13-17. Girls can play in boys/mixed teams until under 15s if they choose. We have many girls playing in mixed teams from age 5 and participating in Tiny Tots from age 3. The above teams are in addition to our 5 women’s teams making us the largest female football program on the Gold Coast with over 200 players. All coaches have completed coaching courses and are experienced with coaching females. We have a second Come and Try clinic for girls on Saturday 23 January 9-10am at our club This is free and you don’t have to pre-book. Registration will commence on-line from January 4. Registration and payment assistance will be available at the club on Saturday 23 January between 9 and 12.
