17.01.2022 Sunrise over the Port Every morning I get to work I notice how calm and still the Port River is and I've thought "that might make a great sunrise photo". Well, over the last couple of mornings and the end of daylight savings rapidly approaching, I've finally done just that, mainly with my drone over the river as it really captures the Port as it's bathed in the first rays of the new day.... The beautiful old Hart's Mill Flour Shed buildings catching the morning's first light, mixed with modern developments and the last remain vestiges of what was a busy port. I think it's really quite beautiful and something I really don't think many South Australia's realise we have, not just 'on our back door' but almost right in the heart of our fabulous city. Luckily a lot has been saved, including the old Mill and the old loading ramp for the Kangaroo Island Ferry (I remember being seasick on the MV Troubridge on the crossing to KI!), but it only takes a glance across the river to realise a lot is disappearing also as the ongoing urban development and 'gentrification' of the Port continues, with the historic Birkenhead Naval Yard, home to the Reserve Cadets, being one of the last remaining links to an earlier time. #portadelaide #portriver #theport #dunnsmill #hartsflourmill #southaustralia #sagreat #southaussie #dji #sunrise #sunrisephotography #stilledlife (If you'd like to buy a copy of anything drop me a line or you just really really like these click here and shout me a coffee https://paypal.me/pools/c/8lgQ0jTVkB After all, we all need coffee when we are getting up at 0530 to catch the morning sun!)

16.01.2022 Irrespective of the reasons, the COVID lockdown of South Australia this November had a dramatic effect as seen by the traffic, or lack there, at one of Adelaide's busiest intersections. Next week a photo here would have bumper to bumper traffic. Today, almost nothing. #Adelaide #COVID19 #canonphotography #EOSRsystem #southaustralia

15.01.2022 I should check my camera sometimes.. These where taken maybe a day or so before the last of the 'purple haze' fell from the trees as summer approached. Loved by many (yet loathed by some residents as they drop!), the Jacaranda flower show is always gives the inner Adelaide streets a beautiful, if fleeting, flash of purple every spring. #Adelaide #jacaranda #southaustralia #canonphotography

14.01.2022 A Picture Tells a 1000 Words Oh the stories this old Beetle must be able to tell. A well known land mark to local photographers alike, this VW Beetle has sat in it's paddock keeping vigil over it's dry waterhole for as long as I can remember!... #dji #southaussie #southaustralia #ruralaustralia #volky #VWBeetles

12.01.2022 Another day, another sunset over Sellicks Beach. The #SkyCandy sunset prediction app said a very low chance of a decent sunset it was time to experiment with the drone and a high density filter (ND256). The results are HDR composites- not bad, but not great. The experiment continues for the perfect sunset shot!... #sellicksbeach #sunset #southaustralia #dji #nisifilters

12.01.2022 Sunset Sir... Time is 1933 local, compass checks correct. No contacts to report out to 10nm. Ship is darkened, lifebuoy sentry is posted and all running lights are on. Sigh ... I really need to get a life...! ... #sunset #adelaide #dji

09.01.2022 Classic Dinghies on Lake Bonney, South Australia Lake Bonney Yacht Club Inc. played host to the first of what we all hope can become an annual regatta for classic sailing boats. Despite last minute COVID restrictions attempting to completely spoil the party just over half the fleet came across from Victoria and the hope for future events are for boats to come from NSW and further afield as we all begin to feel more confident to travel interstate!... The lake as always was a fickle mistress, offering up a perfect Autumn sailing day for day one and doing it's best to confound the locals and BOM for day two, waiting until sailing was cancelled to provide a light but steady northly for the afternoon. Welcome to inland sailing!! The weather confounded Donald Campbell in his attempts to set the world water speed record there and despite all the advances weather forecasting technology it is still just a best guess! A huge thanks to the members and committee of Lake Bonney Yacht Club Inc. for hosting the event, Wayne Fry and Mike Fuller for getting this to happen, all the visiting sailors as well as the likes of Sassy Brews, the Barmera Club, Barmera Bakery for their amazing pies and pasties (as always!) and every other local business that fed and catered for the small band of intrepid visitors! Oh, any my crew for the weekend ... I hope I wasn't Captain Bligh (lets be hones, there is not much room in a Rainbow at the best of times, but two people both within a whisker of 6" tall and you need to bail water out all day .... well, she didn't make me walk the plank so that's a start!). Its certainly created an itch that might need to be scratched for me - looks like my old boat might get a well deserved restoration so we can perhaps return the favour and visit one of the classic sailing regattas interstate also. 07.01.2022 Reflections over the water There's always something about a sunset taken over water, where the water stretches to the horizon with nothing to impede the reflections of the sky. Taking that photo of the sun setting over the ocean whilst being on the water is something else again!... #uselessfact - When you see the sun kiss the horizon it is already below the horizon. What you are seeing is a reflection, an optical illusion, caused by light refracting through the upper atmosphere! Everyone needs a good useless fact! #SunsetTip - don't forget to look behind, because whilst the sunset in front of you might be all deep oranges and reds, what is behind you might well be light pinks and blue ... and there might be an amazing shot hiding in plain site! #oneandall Friends of the One And All Sailing Ship Inc #canonphotography #sunset #radelaide #southaustralia #abcmyphoto

07.01.2022 A few more aerial images from Port Adelaide. Not quite a silo for the Australian Silo Art Trail but some pretty impressive street art all the same, and a bit of a land mark in the Port. I don't know it's history but looking at the surrounding developments it may not have much longer left to be viewed, and it's quite heavily faded. #portadelaide #siloart #streetart #dji #sagreat

04.01.2022 Playing with colour curves. The pool table has more curves than a winding road so messing with the colours is kind of appropriate! #nineball #pooltable #thehustler #EOSR
