23.01.2022 This is so tragic. Yet so unnecessary. We close our eyes to things we don’t think we can change, yet the reality is we can make things easier. We can acknowledge wrong doings and change the way we act moving forward. We have so much to do, to turn inequality into equity and injustice into freedom. https://www.abc.net.au//persecution-of-robert-mui/12553554

23.01.2022 I had to look up the "Rooney Rule" but there are some great tips and thoughts in this article on where D&I is now.

20.01.2022 This is heartbreaking. At the end of the day this comes down to a lack of equity. Have you tried looking for a job in a new sector and get paid your worth or finding a role that can support your life? It is very very hard. We need employers to be more open to life skills and potential and understanding that learning can be sucessful at any age.

18.01.2022 We love to see barriers being broken! This is awesome.

16.01.2022 "Hidden Figures" mathematician Katherine Johnson -- pictured here in front of NASA's Katherine Johnson Computational Research Facility -- was born on this day i...n 1918. One of the earliest women to join NASA, Johnson's skills in celestial navigation were renowned. Among other mathematical feats, she calculated -- by hand -- the launch window and trajectory for the 1961 space flight of Alan Shepard, the first American in space, and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon. For her contributions to the space programs and for blazing a trail for women and African Americans at NASA, Johnson was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian award, by President Barack Obama. Katherine Johnson died earlier this year at the age of 101. For two inspiring children's books about Katherine Johnson for ages 5 to 9, we highly recommend "A Computer Called Katherine" (https://www.amightygirl.com/a-computer-called-katherine) and "Counting on Katherine" (https://www.amightygirl.com/counting-on-katherine) There is also a chapter book about Katherine Johnson for ages 6 to 8 at https://www.amightygirl.com/katherine-johnson The book on which "Hidden Figures" is based is available at http://amzn.to/2j3PS8k -- and in a young readers' edition for ages 8 to 12 at https://www.amightygirl.com/hidden-figures-young-readers For more children's books about her life, visit our blog post, "10 Children's Books Celebrating "Hidden Figures" Mathematician Katherine Johnson," at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=20192 And, for two fun dolls for aspiring young astronauts and astronomers, we recommend the Astrophysicist Doll for ages 3 to 7 (https://www.amightygirl.com/astrophysicist-doll) and the Astronomer Lottie Doll for ages 3 to 8 (https://www.amightygirl.com/stargazer-lottie-doll)

12.01.2022 YES of course... just buy a house then you won’t be homeless Older women are the fastest-growing cohort of homeless people in Australia today. And for many, it's an unexpected life shock that tipped them into destitution. https://www.smh.com.au//having-to-ask-for-somewhere-to-liv

02.01.2022 "She recalls one particular time when there were roughly about 20 women aboard a ship, and all of the women were put together in the same sleeping quarters regardless of their rank. Ross laughs when thinking back to how the women had to share just two bathrooms, and juggle queues for the showers." - https://buff.ly/3oJ4uue

01.01.2022 This is a really important realisation, D&I is not an extension of HR, it is an important operational function that needs to be integrated into the whole business. " I believe we’re about 5 years away from DE&I emerging as its own function that sits in between HR and Operations." https://buff.ly/2LC4WNe #diversity #equity

01.01.2022 It is great to focus on STEM skills but when we are leaving some of our most disadvantaged groups behind in all subjects, how can we even look at diversity within STEM? We need to do better. https://buff.ly/3mCKedi #equity #diversity #support

01.01.2022 "When Mary Golda Ross, the first Native American aerospace engineer, began her career at the aerospace company Lockheed during World War II, women engineers were rare and most companies expected them to leave after the war was over to make room for returning men." https://buff.ly/2PSZmVv #diversity #space #engineer
