25.01.2022 If anyone needs help with any Injured or abandoned wildlife please call the numbers below!

23.01.2022 There’s a possum society that only they know, We may see them sometimes but that’s where they go; They all know each other and whose is what scent, They know w...ho has been or where someone went; They can sense their peer’s paws up and down trees They know when to run! and when to just freeze... The Possum society has procedures to follow Like whose is what food and whose is which hollow; Possums have to adhere to community ways, Governing where to go nights and where to spend days; There’s a whole possum air that fills skies at night, When they all gather under the possum moonlight. Mankind is not privy to most Possum pursuits, Even though they will visit for veggies and fruits! They still have a world of secrets unseen Unknown where they go just where they have been; Of course! they’ll pop up and we’ll see them around, But most possum society can never be found. ~Mara.

20.01.2022 While camping recently we encountered a very rare, and very tame black kookaburra. Anyone else ever seen a black kookaburra? UPDATE: This was at a campground at Donnybrook Qld.

19.01.2022 I received a call from Lauryn this morning about a Kangaroo on the side of the road in Humevale, with a pouch young. Babies had all been fed, so I said I would... head out and have a look. Mum was laying on a 100k zone road. Plain sight. I had a pouch warm, just in case. Opening the pouch, I saw that Bub was not a viable size. I laid Bub to rest with Mum, took them across the road, where I was able to leave them peacefully. Saw another deceased Kangaroo on my way home another 100k zone. He had been hit hard, I saw the debris from the car all over the road. His body down in the ditch. Pulled him from the ditch. Sadly there was nowhere where I could put his body, so I had to spray it and moved him right off the road. Given I had a little bit of time before the little one from last night was getting picked up, I decided to go the long way home. 5 mins into the drive, I came across a large male. Both legs broken. Right on the side of the road. He still had the grass that he had been eating in his mouth Pulled his body off the road and managed to put it near where the Roos cross through. They will now be able to say goodbye. Another 100k road. Another 5 mins down the road, a kangaroo hit and left in the lane of the road where he was hit. He was Still warm. I managed to again, pull his body off the road and put him in some bushes. Another 100k road. 30seconds down the road, another large male, Hit and left AGAIN in the lane he was hit! Still Warm again. He was the worst one by far, right at the roundabout. You would have HAD to have been slowing down. I don’t understand. Pulled his body off the road and into a paddock, under a tree line where his mates hang out. He was apart of a Batchelor mob. Same 100k zone. 6 Kangaroos unnecessarily lost their lives last night/this morning. It Was horrible. Only 1 as far as I know were called in for pouch checks. Why do people not care. Why are these poor animals, treated like shit every single god damn frikn day. Their lives frikn matter. I am sick and bloody tired of people not giving a shit and not giving these animals a second thought. Stop being so bloody heartless

18.01.2022 Rodents are one of the few animals whose numbers have actually increased due to humans, particularly in cities due to human food waste. Raptors, such as owls..., are very effective at keeping rodent numbers under control. Secondary poisoning from most baits can kill their natural predators. Where practical, use alternative methods. DON'T USE POISONS - BAN 1080

15.01.2022 Avoid feeding cows milk to orphaned wildlife! Wildlife rehabilitators carefully choose replacement formulas specific to the species presented. For example,... even voles, rats and mice have differing nutritional requirements. Sadly, well meaning finders may wish to feed orphaned wildlife as soon as possible; feeding inappropriate foods or using unsuitable methods that risk aspiration. Cows milk is a big culprit, unfortunately causing issues such as diarrhoea or bloat, often fatal in such young animals. If you do come across an orphaned animal, seek help from a wildlife rehabilitator or veterinary practice as soon as possible. Ensure the baby is truly orphaned before intervention. Keep the baby secure, warm, and if you have suitable equipment and feel confident to do so, you may offer a small amount of water. However, if you are unsure please avoid this until a rehabber can take the baby! Have you ever come across an orphaned rodent or other wild animal? I have many babies handed to me each year to raise and care for, but I have never found one in need myself! I always say the finders must be very observant to spot the poor tiny rodents!

12.01.2022 We had an extra prickly patient today! This poor little echidna was brought in by a client who had seen there was something wrong with its beak. Echidnas are sh...y and spiky critters, which meant it was impossible to examine and treat her without anaesthesia. We sedated her and were able to remove a thick rubber washer which had obviously got caught over her nose as she was snuffling around. The rubber ring had been there for a long time and had dug deeply into the flesh. Luckily, we were able to make good use of our dental X-ray facilities to show there was no bone damage. She was given long acting antibiotics, pain relief and subcutaneous fluids. Shortly after she woke from her anaesthetic she was snuffling around happily and eating ravenously. She has been handed to a wildlife carer and we expect her to make a full recovery. See more

04.01.2022 Meet Beatrice a very sick girl who was found sitting on the ground in Morayfield. Beatrice shares a very sad but important message: A koala sitting on the grou...nd is NOT okay and needs to be reported immediately. 0401 080 333 A koala should only be on the ground when travelling from tree to tree.. If a koala is sitting, hunching or sleeping on the ground they are in need of urgent medical attention.
