25.01.2022 This weekend see our Rockhampton Junior Cricketers take to the fields in the CQ intercity T20 carnival . In Rockhampton , the U 14 - 6 teams and U 16- 4 teams carnivals will be played at Kalka Shades ( Saturday & Sunday ) , Victoria Park ( Saturday ) and RCG ( Sunday ) . Our 2 Under 12 sides are off to Emerald to play against teams from Gladstone, Callide, Central Highlands and Longreach... The U11 sides venture back to Biloela for a face off against Gladstone, Callide and Central Highlands. Wishing all of the players all the best for the games over the weekend and a big thanks to parents, coaches, scorers and supporters in making the effort to travel to the respective carnival centres.

These are required so that this season winners can be engraved on them and look at possible options of awarding them to the 2019-2020 Winners The Kalka Canteen will be open from 8.30 to 10.00 am on Saturday 21st March for collection of these trophies. A special mention to Katherine Keiler from the North Rockhampton Tigers Cricket Club who has been awarded the inaugural RCI Volunteer of the Year. Kat’s dedication to her role has seen the club grow considerably in the last two years, in particularly in junior cricket and female participation. The award was presented by Queensland Cricket Manager Kade Horan and Participation Officer Nathan Spencer.

14.01.2022 Unfortunately the Rain Gods have taken the Win again this weekend with all Junior Rep T20 Intercity U14 and U16 fixtures for Saturday and Sunday being cancelled . 11.01.2022 With preparations underway for the forthcoming Cricket Season, Rocky Cricket is looking for interested volunteers to assist in field and pitch preparations at Rocky Cricket Grounds and Kalka Shades. For anyone interested and wish to find out more please come down to the Rockhampton Cricket Grounds ( Facilities Shed area ) from 2pm to 4pm tomorrow ( Wednesday 30th September ) to discuss more in detail with RCI Grounds Director Mark OKeeffe. All RCI Clubs are asked to encourage their club members to consider offering some input as Many Hands Make Light Work.

10.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID ANNOUNCEMENT: As a result of today’s announcement by the Queensland Government of a mandatory 3 day lockdown for Greater Brisbane, the only direct implication this has on community cricket in the Central Queensland region is for people who have been in the Greater Brisbane area since January 2nd. To clear up any grey area, any player who has been in the hotspot region in the last week MUST NOT play in any fixtures tomorrow and should be self-isolating until M...onday night at 6pm. This is not a Queensland Cricket mandate, but the advice of the Queensland Government to ensure the safety of the community. If you have any questions whatsoever, get in contact on 0419725833 as soon as possible but please take the Government’s advice that is currently available and continue to follow current COVID-19 guidelines that are currently in place at your club or association. Kicking off at 8.30am, is the U13 Grand Final between Brothers Green and Brothers Blue on RCG 4 ( one closest to Doblos Fruit Market ) At 10.00am The 2nd Grand Final for A Grade between Gracemere and Frenchville takes place on FSCO ( Frenchville Sports Club Oval ) - Main Oval in front of Canteen and Grandstand ... 12 noon with see Reserve Grade Minor Premiers Dawson Valley Taipans take on Norths Tigers on RCG 3 The U16s A Grand Final between Gracemere and Cap Coast Gold will be taking place on RCG 1 ( Racecourse end ) whilst the U16 B's will be between a Battle of the Blues - Cap Coast and Brothers. Both U16 games start at 1pm sharp . So it is the day to head out to the Rocky Cricket Grounds and see the best players and teams compete for the 2020-2021 Premierships. The Canteen will be fully stocked with the usual lovely refreshments and is fully licenced for the grounds.

10.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the overnight rain and overcast conditions this morning ( plus on top the forecast of more rain today ) a decision has been made to call off the u14 and u16 games scheduled for Saturday . This decision has been based on the field conditions and with a focus on player safety particularly on the Astro turf wickets We have made this decision so as to allow those travelling enough notice as possible ... Field and pitch inspections will be made by 3.30-4.00 pm this afternoon in relation to the games that are scheduled for Sunday Updates will be forthcoming when available and also passed onto coaches and team contacts

This was subsequently endorsed by Queensland Cricket and associations under its control. Women’s SummerSlam Charity T20 Match The RCI in partnership with Queensland Cricket will host an annual charity match with some of Central Queensland’s best female T20 talent at Rockhampton Cricket Grounds on December 5th. The game will also have awesome raffle prizes, innings break entertainment and a free girls come and try session with Queensland Cricket staff before the game kicks off. ... Ovarian Cancer Australia will be the beneficiary of the charity match, with all proceeds supporting Ovarian Cancer research.

05.01.2022 Congratulations to Frenchville Falcons in winning the Frenchville Sports Club Premier Division T20 competition. The Glen won the toss and elected to field and held Frenchville to 3 for 156 off their 20 overs. Callum McMahon scored 43, Lachlan Hartley 38 and Brent Hartley 23 no. For The Glen, Sam Lowry 1-29 and Harry Rideout 1-27. At the change of innings it was Callum McMahon who got 3-20 and Logan Whitfield 3-19 with Blake Ryan scoring 20 for The Glen as they were bowled out for 106.

02.01.2022 Rest In Peace to one of our own, Graeme ‘Smithy’ Smith who passed away over the weekend after a long battle with illness. Smithy will be missed by the entire Rockhampton Cricket community and we’re shattered by his passing. Smithy was an integral member of the RCI committee and the CQCI committee for so many years and was the recipient of a cabinet full of volunteer awards like the pictured Queensland Cricket Service to Cricket Award he was presented at the CQCI AGM last year for his decades of volunteer service to cricket. Smithy was a decorated umpire for many years as well and sat on the roller longer than anyone week in week out to make sure that cricket happened every week at the Rockhampton cricket grounds. Rest In Peace Smithy, you’ll be sorely missed.

01.01.2022 As some of you would be aware Rockhampton Cricket hosted the u12 state junior cricket titles in 2017 and 2018 At the welcoming presentation ceremony in 2017 I made a special comment about the number of young ladies that were playing in that carnival and mentioned that I hoped their journey with cricket could follow a similar path to Rocky’s own Jess Jonassen . Well today The Qld u15 girls team took out the National Title against NSW Metro and 3 young ladies - Holly Smith, Amy... Hunter and Sianna Ginger were in the QLD team and they all played here in the 2017 state titles They have all played plenty of cricket since December 2017 but it is great to say that I personally got to see them play So Congrats to these 3 young ladies and also to Bonnie Berry from CQ on your success this past week and look forward to seeing more performances for the years to come
