23.01.2022 Help protect the fairy terns currently nesting on the Rockingham coast. Fairy terns are one of Australia’s smallest and rarest coastal seabirds. They are beach-...nesting birds vulnerable to a range of threats. As a result their population has decreased significantly. A major threat is human disturbance of nest sites. You can help to protect fairy terns by taking a few simple steps when visiting the coast: Be mindful of fenced-off nest sites with fairy tern nesting signage and keep well away. These are in place temporarily to give the birds a chance to have some breeding success. Keep dogs leashed and away from known breeding areas. Dogs can unintentionally injure chicks that are unable to flee the nest. Prevent cats from roaming. See more

Thankfully, the team at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital... were able to successfully remove her twelve eggs, and place them in an incubator! Once these little beauties hatch, we’ll release them into the wild! See more
