23.01.2022 The continuing low transmission of Covid-19 in the Western Australian community has allowed for some medical services to resume, such as cataract surgery. We are operating again from Monday 11th of May! The hospitals are taking extra precautions to keep patients and staff safe. Here at Rockingham Eye Clinic we are taking no chances. We've always been careful about hygiene, but our surgeon is taking PPE precautions beyond the Government guidelines both in the operating theatre and in the clinic. We are also maintaining strict social distancing protocols in the waiting room, so forgive us if we ask your driver or attendant to stay in the car! We were the first to cut back services for safety, and we'll be the last to take any chances with your health.

19.01.2022 As masks are now becoming essential in Victoria, we have not changed our mask and distancing policies. You’ll see me in a mask, and we keep shields on all equipment and at Reception. Also, we welcome your use of a mask during consultations if you have one. It all helps, and better to err on the safe side! Let’s stay vigilant, give each other space and keep our border very tight!

14.01.2022 New COVID restrictions announced in Perth and the Southwest: The State Government has imposed restrictions on movement for a five day period following the detection of a Covid-19 case in a hotel quarantine worker. The restrictions will operate until and including Friday 5th of February. At this stage these have NOT affected our clinic and operating theatre bookings. Elective surgery, including cataract surgery , is suspended from TOMORROW, Tuesday 2nd February. On the assumpt...ion that the lockdown ends on Friday, operations for next week are expected to go ahead as planned. According to Health Department advice, medical services are permitted to go ahead so if you have an appointment tomorrow, Tuesday, please attend still. If you feel unwell, please contact us so we can make other arrangements. Our number is 9592 9255. The HDWA restrictions are linked below. For Rockingham Eye Clinic, we will only accept patients (not drivers or other attendants) in the waiting room unless needed for physical assistance. We will continue to screen with questions regarding symptoms as usual. As mask wearing is now mandatory, please bring any form of mask you have. Any staff at REC who are in close contact with patients will also be wearing masks. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we will be making judgements about Wednesday, Thursday and Friday's clinics as more information becomes available, but at this stage none of our services have been cancelled. Please see the link below for further information. https://www.wa.gov.au//perth-metro-peel-and-south-west-ent

10.01.2022 We are operating as usual tomorrow, Tuesday 27th April, however the following Government restrictions still affect us until the weekend: 1. 4 square metre rule (social distancing): Our waiting room will have limited capacity so we ask that friends and family wait outside unless needed for physical assistance of a patient. Parents, please be aware that we only have space for one parent per family, and please do not bring children who do not have an appointment that day. 2. Masks are still required outside the home. Cloth masks are just fine, as they are for the protection of the people around you. We will do our utmost to keep patients informed if there are any major delays in the clinic to avoid overcrowding. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

09.01.2022 Possible COVID restrictions Rockingham Eye Clinic at this stage is expected to be operating NORMALLY on Tuesday 27th April onwards, after the long weekend. Premier McGowan today left the door open to "some restrictions" persisting after the end of the official 3-day lockdown on Monday night. We will learn more about this possibility tomorrow after more testing results come in. ... Whatever the situation, we will at the very least have a receptionist in place to handle phone calls, referrals and enquiries, and as a medical practice we should be able to continue work as usual. Please watch this thread for further updates, or if in doubt call Reception on 9592 9255 from Tuesday onwards during normal business hours.

06.01.2022 Beating SARS-COV-2 means not passing it to others as well as not catching it. Since up to 50% of infected people have NO symptoms, you may put others at risk. The attached brief video shows how you can reduce the risk of both transmitting and receiving the infection even when "official" surgical masks are in short supply. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFmaSNP6_z4 . . .... #coronavirus #masks #covid19 #facemasks #PPE See more

03.01.2022 SARS-Cov-2 Changes: Rockingham Eye Clinic will continue to provide a consulting service for urgent referrals and care of ongoing conditions. These clinics are scaled back and we will not necessarily open every day, but our phone, fax and email remain active and manned five days per week by our Reception team. We have applied scientific disinfection principles based on international experience and are working hard to ensure we keep the risk of viral spread, either to the staff... or from another patient, to an absolute minimum. Safety is our TOP priority. Urgent office laser procedures are still available currently. All surgical procedures have been suspended during the pandemic due to scientific evidence indicating it is not safe for the surgical team to do elective eye operations. All eye doctors in Australia have been advised to stop all non-critical eye operations. For any enquiries, please contact us on 9592 9255, business hours. Stay safe!

02.01.2022 We are hiring! Rockingham Eye Clinic seeks an additional part time Receptionist to join the team. Prior reception experience and computer familiarity are a must, medical or allied health reception experience and familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Genie are a strong advantage. Please register your interest here on Messenger, or email our business manager Mr E. Atchison on [email protected]
