25.01.2022 Here's a little tip if you are building a guitar or assembling a kit guitar. Before you do anything, run a ground wire from the bridge or tailpiece insert into the control cavity. This will save a lot of heartache because if you forget, it's a royal PITA to do it after its all together. With a strat type setup its easier but for a Tune-o-matic bridge such as a Les Paul, make sure you do this first! This has been a community service announcement PS: For a coated insert like this one, file a little bit of the coating off for a better contact.

22.01.2022 Another day - another bridge repair Have a great weekend everyone

21.01.2022 A timely reminder that if you're not playing much guitar right now, take the batteries out! A bad five dollar battery can destroy your preamp and result in a very expensive repair....

21.01.2022 This week..L to R Epi SG, Epi Les Paul, Fender Jazz, Maton 225C .. My happy place

18.01.2022 Two Les Paul's in one week with the same problem - bad ground connection to the tailpiece causing an earth hum Unusual for a quality guitar.

17.01.2022 There's something very satisfying about restoring old neglected instruments and giving them a new lease of life. Here's another one I finished today. Cheers

17.01.2022 Its nice when I get to work on quality instruments like this Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul. Fitted a new Seymour Duncan 'Hot Tamale' bridge pickup designed by owner Luke Hansen. Cheers

15.01.2022 A big job this week- I will be resetting the neck on this 40yo Maton. First step is to gently separate the neck from the body. Slow and steady is the way to go so you get a nice clean surface to reglue... I will post more photos as it progresses

13.01.2022 On the bench today - another Fender amp (Hot Rod Deville) with those crappy IC caps leaking and wasp nests inside the input jacks!

12.01.2022 So its not just guitars, basses, amps, speakers, PA systems....(well you get the picture) that I work on - this week I'm having a bit of fun restoring an old banjo and banjo/mandolin. A nice break from the norm.... Stay safe and have a great week everyone. Cheers

12.01.2022 Haven't posted anything for a while but that doesn't mean that I haven't been busy.....a few recent jobs here. Have a great weekend everyone!

10.01.2022 Finished the 40yo Maton neck reset today - this old girl plays and sounds great! Cheers

10.01.2022 Yet another bridge repair.... Must be the change in temperature

09.01.2022 Four generations of Maton acoustics to work on this week...

07.01.2022 Finished restoring this nice old Yamaha amp today. Very interesting setup - the head is actually just a preamp, and the power amp is mounted in the bottom of the speaker cab. For its age (circa 1973) everything was still in remarkably good condition, just needed new caps, some wiring fixes, and 30+ years of dust and dirt removed! Cheers.

07.01.2022 Last jobs for the week The boys from Phineas Q are getting ready to hit the stage again in July New pedalboard for Matt and new Grover tuners, bone nut and a setup for Banksy. Can't wait to rock out with you lads real soon! Cheers....

06.01.2022 So it's not just old instruments that I restore.. Here's a beautiful old Fender Super 60 that I just finished. New caps, tubes, a few pots & new speaker grill cloth. Really happy with how it turned out - and it will last for years! Cheers

04.01.2022 Just when you think that you've seen everything in DIY repairs... I have no words.
