24.01.2022 Honey harvesting early today.

22.01.2022 Caught a medium sized swarm which came visiting my home apiary.

18.01.2022 Harvested ten frames of honey last Wednesday. Honey was extremely thick and difficult to extract from the frames. Eventually had to place the heater in close proximity of the extractor to ensure the honey flowed. Won't be doing that again any time soon.

16.01.2022 Rather disappointed with the quality of timber in hives bought 3 years ago. Two supers have already rotted even though both had three coats of quality paint. Should last at least ten years!!!!!

15.01.2022 Caught the first swarm of the Season. Thank you Matt and Louise. Again the swarm came from the Baptist Church area.

13.01.2022 First swarm of the season. 18/08/19. Unfortunately too high to catch. Came in from hives at the Baptist Church. My bees not happy!!!! They went ballistic when the intruders arrived.

12.01.2022 Februarys is over. Received 5mms short of 500mms rain for February. Absolutely wonderful. Trees are beginning to bud but sadly there are not a lot of trees flowering. The trees that were burnt in the fires are turning green. A joy to see that they were not destroyed.... Sadly the bees are struggling for pollen and nectar. Hopefully trees will begin flowering soon. 10.01.2022 Love the way the Girls go marching into their new home. Safely rehomed.

09.01.2022 Next batch of Butyric Acid. Great stuff to move the bees on when harvesting honey or catching swarms.

06.01.2022 Tried my hand at making Creamed Honey this afternoon. You really need a commercial electric beater to cream the honey. No wonder it is so expensive - had to beat the honey for over an hour to get it to cream and become a white colour. Tough on the domestic Kenwood mixer. Eeek!!

04.01.2022 Video of swarm capture taken by the Director of Household Affairs. And everything else :-)

02.01.2022 Winter bees - strong hives at home. :-)
