25.01.2022 Today the Rogues are back in The Rocks for the first of two HUGE open audition days. It's wonderful to be seeing the artists who responded to our call out all those weeks ago, and IN-PERSON. So exciting. So grateful.

24.01.2022 ROGUE CALL OUT We know you’re itching to get creative again as restrictions ease, and we’re itching to do what we do best: find the rogue voices in Australia, those exciting creatives who’ve been invisible, who haven’t had the opportunities they deserve, and throw ourselves into helping you keep being EXCELLENT - excellent in front of an audience. Last year we developed four new works, this year we continued development on three works, and next year we want to welcome new vo...ices to our band of rogues. We're looking for: - Actors, directors, designers, dramaturges, production managers, and writers who have not had a film, TV, mainstage, significant independent theatre, or significant independent film opportunity in the last three years.* AND - Established or emerging actors, directors, designers, dramaturges, production managers, and writers who are keen to work with and support those who’ve not had the opportunities they’ve been blessed with. *And YES, you read that right. We don’t care how many Twitter followers you have. In fact, if you’ve got more than us, you probably don’t need what we’re offering. We don’t need ‘bums on seats’ names - audiences can see them on any number of stages throughout the country, and next year that’s probably ALL they’ll see as production houses opt for a safe-bet as they work to recover post-COVID. We’d rather do what we do well and take a risk on someone new and exciting. Does this sound like you? Want to know more? Drop us a line! Simply fill in the form via the link below and we’ll be in touch with next steps. www.docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSfKc6aVNvuvGTEjvVRHj/viewform Please note, Rogue Projects is a small independent production company. We believe that artists should be paid fairly and equitably, and we seize every opportunity we can find to source funding and remunerate artists for their efforts, but remuneration does vary from project to project depending on funding opportunities available. However you can rest assured that if we can’t get the funds to pay YOU, we don’t pay ourselves, or we find another way. Our goal is to find ways for art to be sustainable for all of us via opportunities, production, and networks. We’re in this together.

20.01.2022 Remember that little (big) queer short film we're making? Well, we decided that if we're going to make a film about censorship, we're going to make it the best damn film we can. So, we took a look at the $ and decided to make the budget bigger, bolder and braver - and if we pull it off we create paid work for artists, technicians, and administrators AND we get to create some great pathway opportunities for film students too. Why are we rabbiting on about it? The Rogues have ...decided to continue our Australian Cultural Fund campaign for just a few more days in the hope we can inspire a more people to join our crazy idea, and throw a tax-deductible coin our way. We'll be getting Robbi, Chris and Bradford to explain the inspiration this week, but in the meantime if you can... https://australianculturalfund.org.au//refuse-classificat/

20.01.2022 What do Rogue writers do in development? Construct props from office supplies, of course! Watch out for Rogues Writer in Residence Bradford Elmore. He is armed and dangerous.

19.01.2022 Our Rogue Call Out continues this week as we reach out to communities everywhere to find those invisible artists and untold stories the Rogues can support. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has completed the EOI form, sent us emails, and made sure we know about you and your project. We've had a great response, and it will take a little time for us to get back to you all. Please be patient as we take the time to learn all about you. ... And if you haven't yet sent us an EOI please click on over to the form below and get one in! https://forms.gle/bQAVACHhPM8ePxiG8

19.01.2022 Shout out to Jump Start Youth Theatre for featuring Rogues Producer Robbi James in their series on the impact of youth drama education. It's nice to get to know him a little bit more (and now we're curious as to which 80's cartoons he got to play with). Check out Jump Start's programs if you have young humans in your world that want to explore performance. It's run by a great young team of professional performers with some fresh ideas for drama engagement! #WasItHeMan? #dramaworkshop #arts #youththeatre #inspiration #LifeChanging

15.01.2022 Director Chris Elena talks about how our new film project is his dream project, and the impact he hopes it will make on the people and communities the story is about. Refused Classification is our first short film, born out of a lifetime of frustration with censorship and queer representation on screen. It's funny, it's smart, and it's a story that deserves to be told and seen. If you are in a position to help us reach our new crowdfunding target please consider donating bef...ore the campaign ends tomorrow, on 7th September. Until then, every donation is tax-deductible! 15.01.2022 Robbi and Erica looking suitably befuddled (and secretly excited) about what the future holds. We’re about half way through discovering the work and people from our Rogues Call Out, and we can’t wait to see what comes of the results so far. If you haven’t yet heard from us don’t stress, we’re taking the time to get back to each and every one of you as we learn about your work and ambitions! Phew, It’s been a BIG morning! Happy Friday everyone!

14.01.2022 Toast #4 The director! More love for our fakespeare @joshuashediak on his birthday. We you Josh! #happybirthdayjosh #wilandgrace

13.01.2022 To everyone who has sent us an EOI for the Rogues Where Are You? call-out... thank you. It's been very exciting to see the huge array of talent and potential out there. We have started getting back to artists, so please keep an eye out in your email (and spam folders) over the coming weeks. We are responding to every single one of you (all 80+), so it may take a little longer than first expected. x

12.01.2022 So... a couple of months ago we started a crowdfunding campaign to help us raise the $ we needed to make our first movie - and we hit our goal in just 3 weeks. It inspired us to almost double the budget so we can go and make the best damn short film we can, and pay everyone who is involved. Simple really. Watch Robbi, Chris and Bradford chat about why we're going large with our little big film. If you are in a position to help us reach our new target please consider donating ...before the campaign ends on 7th September. Until then, every donation is tax-deductible! 12.01.2022 Writer Bradford Elmore talks about why our film project, Refused Classification, is important to him, his family, and his community. Refused Classification is our first short film, born out of a lifetime of frustration with the MPAA and queer representation on screen. It's funny, it's smart, and it's a story that deserves to be told and seen. 09.01.2022 Aaaand it’s our second big day of open auditions, and this time we’re reaching out beyond state borders to meet artists wherever they may be. This zoom business has certainly changed things, hasn’t it? #roguesontherocks #independenttheatre

06.01.2022 ARTIST OPPORTUNITY & SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT The Rogues are thrilled to announce that 'Blacklisted' a new cabaret written by Almitra Mavalvala, and directed by Bernadette Fam, is now in pre-production for an exciting debut season in Spring 2021. A genre-blending new cabaret about borders and belonging. Almitra just wanted to travel, study, and maybe survive in Sydney. But the world is a very different place when you hold a Pakistani passport. Comedy, truth, and original live music...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Somehow, with so much love from all corners of the globe, we’re at 100% of our crowdfunding target for Refused Classification. We’re so grateful, so amazed, and feel so ready to bring this story to life. Every $ beyond our target means people get paid, the story gets told, and we can share it with as many folks as possible. Please consider chipping in a coin. Even the cost of a cup of coffee makes a HUGE and very real difference and we have until midnight to make it tax-dedu...ctible. Visit https://australianculturalfund.org.au//refuse-classificat/ to make a difference. Also, we LOVE YOU. Thank you!
