25.01.2022 Rooftop Cinema is back. But not on a roof. We’ve partnered with @mpavilion and @mini to run a FREE screening series on the top floor of the Parkade carpark on Little Collins Street. Deck chairs provided, the only thing you’ll be parking is your butt. Head to rooftopcinema.com.au or the link in our bio to learn about the screenings and to reserve a spot while you still can.

25.01.2022 Unfortunately tonight's screening of "The Breakfast Club" has been cancelled due to the weather. Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.

24.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came down to last night’s free screening of PlayTime in the Parkade carpark. All other sessions in our @mpavilion season are sold out except for Rams on Thursday 25 March. Head to rooftopcinema.com.au to snatch up some seats. Subscribe to our newsletter while you’re there if you want to be one of the first to learn what’s showing at our currently unannounced Thursday 18 March screening.

23.01.2022 You can see New Order at Rooftop Cinema before their gig at the Music Bowl or the Forum (New Order will be portrayed by actors in 24 Hour Party People, Michael Winterbottom’s excellent movie about Factory Records and the Manchester music scene from 1976 to 1992). Screens Thursday 14 March.

19.01.2022 Reserve your spot to our free screening of PlayTime at the Parkade carpark on Little Collins Street thanks to @mpavilion and @mini. Sitting on a deck chair on the top floor of an empty carpark suits the mood of Jaque Tati’s comedic masterpiece if we don’t say so ourselves. Screens Thursday 4 February. Get to rooftopcinema.com.au or the link in our bio to reserve a spot while they last.

17.01.2022 We have cancelled our screening of Babyteeth on Thursday 18 February because we may not be able to leave our houses that night. Even then, the immediate wake of a lockdown is perhaps not the most auspicious time to watch a movie in public. It will be reprogrammed at a more chill date. We’ll announce when and make some new screening announcements in our next newsletter. Subscribe now at rooftopcinema.com.au

10.01.2022 Screenings are still on this week with a number of precautionary measures in place including capping screenings at 50% of their usual size so people can keep a safe comfortable distance from one another during the season. More details at the link.

08.01.2022 With a great deal of sadness we are announcing that the deckchairs will not be pulled out for a regular Rooftop Cinema season this summer. We’ve made the decision to break our 15-year streak with massive reluctance, but after monitoring public health advice over the course of the Coronavirus outbreak we reached the conclusion that it is not in the best interests of our patrons or the cinema’s long-term sustainability to run a full season in 2020/21. While we’re taking our hia...tus, the Rooftop Bar Melbourne and the Burger Shack will keep the artificial grass warm, continuing to trade while following all government regulations and safety guidelines. This is disappointing news, but we are in the planning stages of a series of special events that will make sure summer isn’t without at least a little Rooftop Cinema. So please keep an eye out here or sign up to our newsletter at rooftopcinema.com.au to get the latest as it happens. Team Rooftop

06.01.2022 Unfortunately tonight's screening of "Sleepless in Seattle" has been cancelled due to the weather. Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.

04.01.2022 We did not expect to end the season with five more screenings in the tank. Though we’re glum that we didn’t get to see it out to the end, we’re grateful we got to do it at all and the reason we got to do it at all is you. We’re going into hibernation but we’ll fire up the Facebook, dust off the deck chairs and get the popcorn ready in December. We’ll all need a good movie and a stiff drink by then

03.01.2022 You might need your mood lifted right now. If you do, come to our screening of Singin’ in the Rain on Sunday. It’s 103 minutes of pure joy. Ironically, we can’t screen it if it’s raining but the skies look like they’re gonna be clear
