25.01.2022 New RopeLab member test report: Does rope choice affect the actual mechanical advantage of a hauling system?
25.01.2022 RopeLab Webinar: 7pm Thursday 25th June 2020 (UTC) Meet the designers: Fred Hall (DMM) Fred Hall, from DMM, is a good friend and I have always enjoyed sitting down with Fred and hearing his thoughts on well pretty much everything. He is certainly my go-to guy for questions about metal and forging.... This will be my first effort at a facilitated conversation and I hope to keep it relaxed and engaging. This is for RopeLab subscribing members only. When: UTC: 7pm Thursday 25th June 2020 https://www.ropelab.com.au/ropelab-webinar/
24.01.2022 7pm (UTC) 27th Aug 2020: Meet the designers: Ole Kils & Tyler Mayer (CMC Rescue) Most do not realise that CMC Rescue is an employee owned company with a healthy focus on community. Tyler and Ole are a key part of the design team and they have impressed me with their ideas and humility since the day I first met them. Obviously well talk about the new Clutch, but there are few other fascinating topics well cover in this session too. https://www.ropelab.com.au/ropelab-webinar/

22.01.2022 New RopeLab members report: Old slings (2) I last ran these tests in 2013 but I have since collected many more climbing slings that are more than 10 years old. This report presents the results of tests on 42 Nylon and Dyneema slings. Yet again, many of these broke well below the claimed new strength of 22kN. Some as low as 10kN. I am even more convinced now that a maximum of 10 years is a reasonable age for manufacturers to specify for such products. https://www.ropelab.com.au/members-old-slings-2/

05.01.2022 RopeLab members Webinar #2: Knots One of the most basic skills that Ill observe to get a sense of competence. For me it is all about function and simplicity. Why do I rarely consider strength in my choice - because I genuinely believe they are all good enough. Further, I just dont believe the published figures on knot strength apply to real use on-the-job.... 03.01.2022 Phew...I think were ready! Weve completed a major database upgrade to www.ropelab.com.au. Some minor tweaking to do, but its functional. If you are a current member to RopeLab Online, you should be in the system with your existing user details including the expiry date. You will have received a PayPal email notifying that weve cancelled the automatic renewal of your membership. Note that this doesnt mean that weve cancelled your membership! Go to the site and try... and log on. It should work fine. Please let us know by email if you have any trouble. If you are not a current member, you can now purchase a 1 year membership for $60AUD, a 3 year membership for $165AUD, or a 5 year membership for $250AUD. These memberships will not automatically renew, but you can purchase them by credit card on the website. If you are an expired member, log in and the system should recognise the user. You can then purchase a new membership assigned to you. We hope it will be a much simpler system. Please have a look around and let us know if you find something that doesnt work. Were expecting a few glitches! http://www.ropelab.com.au/
03.01.2022 RopeLab Online Memberships are temporarily unavailable while we upgrade the system. Our apologies for any inconvenience. We will let you know here when were ready to roll again.
