21.01.2022 Congratulations to Balarinji, Frasers Property Australia and Wurundjeri-willam artist, Mandy Nicholson on our win in the 2020 Good Design Awards for the stunning ceiling mural and outer facade artwork at Burwood Brickworks. We are absolutely honoured. This public art installation is a unique and powerful example of successfully embedding and celebrating Aboriginal culture within the urban context that is deeply connected to Place.

13.01.2022 Thank you Teresa Moore and ABC Kids Community for reading my book 'Ten Scared Fish' on Play School. I especially loved the Noongar translations for all the animals! 'Ten Scared Fish' is a colourful and fun counting story that celebrates the beauty of Indigenous art, designed by Balarinji.

12.01.2022 This was a very special project for us as it acknowledged the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum which led to Indigenous Australians being counted in the Census, and hence becoming citizens with the right to vote. Balarinji Chair, John Moriarty, was an original campaigner for this watershed referendum that scored a vote of over 90%, the highest vote for any Australian referendum ever recorded.

12.01.2022 The Indi Kindi children love their #IndiFooti sessions. Delivered by John Moriarty Football coaches, Indi Footi is a pre-school football program for 2 to 6 year olds which activates young brains through movement, and develops basic football and motor skills, balance and coordination in a fun, non-competitive environment.

11.01.2022 Thank you Inside Small Business for sharing my thoughts on resilience. How we manage our teams and support them through times of uncertainty can be the tipping point that ensures a business is able to stabilise and grow in the most challenging environment.

10.01.2022 Visiting schools in remote areas is an important part of the John Moriarty Football program. Recently, our JMF coaches from Tennant Creek ran a great session in the remote and beautiful Mungkarta Community.

09.01.2022 What an absolute highlight of a day! We got to spend the day chatting with over 800 kids from rural and remote Australia in celebration of John Moriarty Footbal...l Indigenous Football Week alongside National NAIDOC The goal of each session we presented was to spark curiosity - the feeing so integral to learning and progress, but so often overlooked. Each location (and each student within each location) experiences such a varying level of food availability and food security and cooking skills - with one location currently even without a supermarket after it burned down. With this in mind, we were so determined to bring a food discussion that removed the morality around food and the privilege so often within food education. Instead, we loved facilitating food exploration and excitement. We did a lot of questioning and listening before these sessions to aim for an empathetic and engagingly relevant session. But even with this, I already know we made some mistakes and have lots to improve on - but improvement and progress for inclusion takes some vulnerability , and for that, our small discomfort was totally worth it. We had kids pumped about sharing which foods they love and which ones they are learning to love; we had kids working through how to build super powerful small habits in their days; and we had the sweetest of interactive competitions to finish it off. Presenting virtually is tough, but it has also opened an opportunity to reach numbers and community that we may not have otherwise - and for that, we are heading to bed happy and grateful tonight to be living our values in what we have built within Compeat None of this would have been possible without the @footballjmf facilitators and school teachers - thank you!! #alwayswasalwayswillbe #naidoc2020 #naidoc #naidocweek2020 #indigenousfootball #indigenousfood #aboriginal #aboriginalaustralia #football #footballaustralia #professionalfootball #athlete #soccer #performancenutrition #sportsnutrition #sportsdietitian #dietitian #food #health

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Rae Dower on her new appointment as Football Federation Australia's Women's Technical Advisor. This role was an identified priority with the FFA Women's Football Council Women in Leadership portfolio and it was great to collaborate with FFA, James Johnson and Trevor Morgan and see a football trailblazer like Rae appointed to it. We are pleased there will be a strategic female lens applied to the Technical Department, an area of the women's game that needs more focus and support. We look forward to the leadership impact Rae will make in the technical space.

07.01.2022 Thank you The Koori Curriculum for sharing my children's book 'The Rainbow'. Illustrated by Balarinji, it's a read-aloud story that celebrates the kaleidoscopic colours of the Australian landscape.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to Frasers Property Australia on making the shortlist twice in The Urban Developer 2020 Awards for Burwood Brickworks which features the stunning ceiling mural by Wurundjeri-willam artist Mandy Nicholson and Balarinji. Burwood Brickworks is a finalist in the Excellence in Sustainability and Development of the Year Retail categories. https://bit.ly/35UXFAc

03.01.2022 Thank you to Flyn Tracy and Matt Leach for a great interview on Australian Design Radio where we discussed Balarinji and how much further we have to go to increase the visibility of Australia's Indigenous narrative. https://ausdesignradio.com/

03.01.2022 20 years ago today the Sydney 2000 Olympics officially opened where Cathy Freeman lit the Olympic Cauldron, just days before she would win her historic Gold medal in the 400m. The Balarinji team is proud to have been an early sponsor of Catherine, including providing her with our Indigenous-designed running suits. We're also proud to have designed the official poster for the opening of the Olympic Stadium. 20 years on, we salute a great Australian in Catherine Freeman, who carried a nation so magnificently on her shoulders.
