25.01.2022 In Chinese Medicine beets have a special connection to the Kidney, Spleen and Heart. They help build blood that the liver needs to store, and they help our muscles utilize oxygen. The idea of building blood is very important in Chinese Medicine. We all have enough blood to support life but relative blood deficiency is common and can be the cause behind lassitude or lethargy, often closely related to what Chinese Medicine calls Qi deficiency. In this context, Qi is about drive or energy, blood is about resources or reserves. Roasting is the cooking method that resonates with Kidney energetics that govern very deep health, fertility, genetics, bone and marrow wellness. Beets help digestion while being nourishing and wonderful to eat.

22.01.2022 With the onset of strong wind and blooming blossoms it's safe to say we have entered into the thick of Spring. A joyous time for anyone that doesn't suffer from dreaded hay fever symptoms. Spring is characteristically a windy season that carries airborne pathogens such as pollen, bacteria and viruses. The bodies defensive energy (or Wei Qi) is the first barrier to protect the body from those pathogens. Sufferers of allergies tend to have deficiency of Qi, or internal vital energy and is closely linked to the immune system. Click on the link below for the full article and a little about how Chinese Medicine may be able to help you tackle the sniffles this Spring.

20.01.2022 Carrots are a great snack raw, but they're energetically very cooling. Cooking them contributes to warmth and the beta carotene isn’t well absorbed if not cooked (only 3 percent of their beta carotene can be absorbed when eaten raw, but when cooked ten times that amount can be assimilated). The benefit carrots have for digestion spreads much further than just digestion of those carrots and their specific nutrients; carrots help restore stomach distension and clear food stagnation, improving digestion overall.

18.01.2022 It's been a roller-coaster of a week for allied health professionals. We have received lots of conflicting information about whether or not we can continue to practice. Fortunately we received confirmation this morning that Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners are still eligible to practice on patients that require urgent care or patients that are likely to deteriorate without treatment. Gabriele, Fiona and Lauren are still offering treatments to patients in need. We un...derstand the importance of maintaining good physical and mental health at this time. . . Unfortunately Remedial Massage therapists Emma and Lachlan will no longer be able to practice for the duration of the stage 4 restrictions. We will continue to keep you posted as things change. . . Please feel free to call or email us if you have any further questions or concerns. As always we will be screening patients and taking temperatures upon arrival. All patients must wear masks throughout the duration of the treatment. Stay safe everyone. See more

18.01.2022 Zinc is a powerhouse of a trace element that boosts the production of T-cells responsible for fighting off viral infections. Zinc can be found in the following foods : Lamb, Oysters, crab, mussels, shrimp, lentils, beans, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, chickpeas, mushrooms, spinach, avocado, cocoa powder, squash, sesame seeds, pine nuts, peanuts, cashews, almonds, kefir/yoghurt, milk, eggs. (There is also evidence to suggest that a healthy level of zinc speeds up the process of overcoming the virus infection)

17.01.2022 The Obstacle is the Way takes a look into the past of how famous leaders went through challenges and how they overcame them. This book is a guide into what it takes to be OK with the uncomfortable. It's certainly an ideal time to embrace obstacles and uncertainty. What books are you reading at the moment?

13.01.2022 There are a handful of herbs and spices that we use frequently in Chinese Medicine formulas for their preventative and immunity boosting qualities. Thankfully, they can also be found on your herb shelf at home ;) To boost your system, double your dosage of Ginger, Turmeric and Garlic in your cooking or brew your herbs and make a delicious ginger, lemon and turmeric tea. Another powerful herb is Licorice Root. This incredible herb has anti viral and bacterial properties and ca...n also help with early onset of sore throat. Our clinic is still open if you would like a more specialised treatment and herbal prescription (with a few more obscure herbs you may be unlikely to find in your pantry ;)) Stay safe and (virtually) connected to one another.
